  • We are honored to kick off our 2013 Speakeasy video series with Elena Brower, who has packed the house every year since our Speakeasy series began.
Last year (2012) in Vermont for her Wanderlust Speakeasy on Spiritual Parenting, Elena suggested that we make peace with our own parents by practicing acceptance; accepting that our specific lessons were precisely what our soul needed to learn in order to do what we've come to do in this world. "Acceptance," she offered, "helps us be more respectful of our parents, which helps us be more respectful of ourselves." (View her 2012 Speakeasy on Spiritual Parenting here: • "Spiritual Parenting: ... )
In this Speakeasy from Wanderlust Stratton 2013, she invites us to deepen that self-respect by examining it in our relationships. "How can we develop a truly reverent attitude towards love within our closest intimate relationships?"
Witness the full breadth of this exploration of "Spiritual Partnership" in this video, and go deeper in the discussion of how to apply this to your life in her exclusive blog post for the Wanderlust Journal, here:

Thanks so much for your talk! I'm only half way through and I see why my relationship is so good at the moment with my partner because that is exactly what we have done, given space to listen to each other, have respect for there feelings and . Mostly are interested in what makes them happy and try to do so. Even without such training we are stumping sometimes but whenever we feel " out of balance ' or we are not that happy with each other we say: what's up, whats going on ? how can we resolve whatever it is, and how can we make this better and make each other happy.. and most of the time we don't even agree with each other!! but we have listened to each other and at least we know how they feel so now we can take actions that can help the other persons happiness.. I'm luck in that we are both sensitive so this set's us off faster and so gets this resolved quicker. I do how ever Love talks like this because I keep learning and keep being reminded on how I can further develop as a person. So thanks so much ! for your quote: " this is my person " it really resonates with me. Thanks again love your work !

It would be nice if my partner would admit any wrongdoing whatsoever. This is what drives me crazy about him. He will never admit when he has done anything. His natural response is to deny. I think she really hits home with this. At the very least acknowledging the other persons feelings is a good start.

This is a great article and one that should be taught to our daughters and high school students:
    upliftconnect.com/12-rights-women-have/
it's entitled: "12 rights women have in Intimate Relationships" By Ginny Brown on Monday August 22nd, 2016 and is a great reference for the 12 year old girl in the audience I refer to in my comment below.

so much suffer cause judgements, which we don't need just watch what makes life more wonderful before you do anything. the truth is not in our heads , but in the front of our eyes. Drama will ends when you wake up and start to act on observation not on the judgemental dream in your head.

+Janes Smith Hugs to you sister I really feel you, your reasons are imaginary real, but suffer is observable real. Imaginary things are unlimited optional which means you are totally fix able. Claim your right to choose consciously about what serves life. wake up get in charge of your life right now, time does not exist, but life constantly moving and changing Life forms emerge, mature and die. Get awareness about your needs and move your body in most beneficial way possible.

Melanie Jane WELL GEEZ really really bad things are happening all the time, right now. "heteronormative"? "rigid gender binary?" these aren't things...these are a fabrication and a luxury preoccupation, designed to waste your time while most of this planet lives in misery and poverty. When there is no child in sexual slavery, when people don't roam garbage dumps to survive, when corporations are held legally accountable for destroying the planet THEN we can sit around navel gazing about these imaginary issues YIKES INDEED Yes it makes me angry. It should make you angry. We should all be far angrier and less complacent.

Elena, I really respect you as a yoga teacher, I love your classes on yoga-glo, but this speakeasy was disappointing in two areas. One, you cannot tell a 12 year old girl to 'have sex every day', that's criminal, even though you didn't realise her age, you didn't do much to set her straight once you did find out and you also said that a women's job is to 'service her man'. Where was there mention of mutual RESPECT and when a women doesn't feel like sex, if the man insists, that's rape, the women should NOT feel obligated to 'service' her man daily. What you are saying is damaging, especially for a 12 year old. Listening and holding space for each other is good advice but I think if you're going to make a public talk and then have it published on CZcams you need to have a certain amount of responsible obligation to society and women in general. Maybe you should spend some time in women's shelters, or spend some time with children who have been trafficked and who were obliged to 'service men daily'...your words in this respect are shocking and ill-thought out.

    • @chantalducharme626
      @chantalducharme626 Před 2 lety

I get what you're saying about mutual respect, but i think in discernement its all about the effort and "
serving" is taboo now but why should it always bad. Of course it would have been nice if she made clear that man are to serve women too but she started with the Cherokee proverb that set that straight.

I find it strange, that she can't even control her language... and that fifteen minute thing....he'd be better with another piece of toast instead...

There are some great insights here, but the woman is clearly a wacko that thinks she is cool. The quote at the beginning and at the end were the best part.

  • @lisamarcopastranbinger5438

She is not a person I would want to sit and listen to fir hour ,,I would have to much anxiety ,, need classes on how to keep class attention , to blah
