More people need to adhere to this style, don't buy what's fashionable today, it won't be tomorrow, buy what you like, if it's today's in style, great, if it's not in style, great, be you. I daily wear a Hamilton Khaki Field, working in the yard or going to a wedding, it's me.

    • @Roughdraft214
      @Roughdraft214 Před rokem +1

I think you can wear your watches however you please, no one should tell you otherwise. But I think there’s a set of standards that a lot of us tend to agree with, and with men’s fashion it’s not something that’s opening talked about all the time. I would never wear sneakers with a suit but a lot of younger people love sneakers and they will. I tend to go along the lines of the classic fashion styles, for example I would never wear a sports watch with a button shirt, and a lot of people find that acceptable so at the end of the day, do you what you’d like obviously. This video is more for us, people who follow more classic style guides. Thus, this is more for our personal likings, and for those with that old fashioned gentlemanly taste from a lost time when fashion was more scrutinized. These days no one cares anyway so everything goes!

The one thing I'll say about having a loose bracelet is that since it's not always on the same place, and isn't too tight against your skin, it gets significantly less hot. Sometimes with a tight watch I have to take it off after a while because I start getting sweaty, but with a loose watch just a gentle shaking of the wrist will move it to a different spot, allowing the skin to breathe. It may not look the best, but it's way more comfortable.

The matching leathers rule rarely includes the important detail that it doesn't mean brown strap brown belt, brown shoes. You can do different shades of brown, from light to dark between the three. Don't buy tens of straps to match your shoes exactly. Also, a three set of the same brown is not trying too hard, as long as the rest of the outfit is not monochromatic.

Great video. Also nice to get a face to the voice. One rule I never break is wearing a wrist watch with a tail-coat. For those occasions you wear a pocket watch. Preferably in your pocket and not on your vest. Not showing a watch is a way of saying this is a great party and I don’t care what time it is. Showing a watch is saying that this will probably be a dull evening …

I've broken some of these rules. I have a titanium watch that feels nice wearing a little loose. Not so loose that it's flopping around, but it slides up and down over the wrist knuckle. I've also worn a watch on the outside of my sleeve, but I had 4 layers of clothes on in -30 F weather at night, and this was way easier than pulling sleeves up. And I wear 2 watches, but it's a fun watch o one wrist and a smartwatch on the other. But don't worry, when the smartwatch battery fades too much, I'm ditching it for a fitness tracking ring. That's all I need, I am so tired of wrist notifications. Sometimes I just leave my watch in theater mode all day so it doesn't alert for anything.

Now fussily sporting matching brogues shoes, belt and strap, with buckle, case and cufflinks - warm tones or cool tones - brown with gold OR blue with silver. And, going even strickter - scarf and hat sets with all of the above. Also an all black straps and watch for black shoes, and my fabric straps matching the colours of different espadrilles -grey, navy and brown. I know, getting a bit OCD, but the key to all this is keeping choices affordable.

Nice one guys as usual. As for wearing two watches? Well I guess I'm guilty of that, one tells me the time and the smart one works out what time I have left given all the bio stats that it seems to know about me. It's really useful most of the time but can get it wrong occasionally and that can be expensive. Just the other month it said I'll be dead in 90 minutes (no mention in my daily horoscope of this), So I got in the car and got myself a new watch at the AD, it was only after checking the time at the AD after the usual chat, bracelet adjustment and payment that I checked the time on time telling watch that I realised that 90 minutes had expired over an hour ago. So the moral of this story is that if your smart watch says you only have 90 minutes left do not drive silly fast to the watch AD as you could end up killing yourself (and others). Read the paper instead. Anyone want to buy my smart watch?

Yes. Do whatever you want. Own it. The reason McQueen was cool is that he didn't give a rat's ass. I learned about the RAF guys wearing Seikos over tennis wristbands in this comment section, and I am intrigued. I don't like a tight watch, but I also can't stand tight clothing. I dont wear it on the hand either, but if you like then, then f-ing do it. I love Andrew and Tom - brilliant stuff. Great to see fellow nerds have a voice! Now I am really wondering, seriously, what other possibilities are there: wear it through a pocket; on a hat...

So, in the summer, you should indeed wear a pair of leather shoes one day, then let them rest for at least two days. Same would probably apply to leather straps, otherwise they start to smell and stink and disintegrate fast….

I do tend to coordinate my straps with my belt and shoes, but I tend to buy all of those in cognac/whiskey colour, so that makes it easier for me. Aside from that I’m mostly a bracelet guy when it comes to my watches.

On my left wrist: diver with nato that contrasts nicely with the dial- and gets rotated often just for fun. Right wrist: Apple Watch while I’m working. I’m not sure if I’m breaking rules or making rules. 🤔

The only one that was ok to wear the watch OVER the shirt sleeve, was Gianni Agnelli, Fiat owner and launcher of many trends back then. A true style icon, check him out :)

Regarding the cheap suit /expensive watch, rule,, I've been walking round the block, a few times each day, trying to exercise my "dodgy" leg, (yep, it's gradually getting better 😊)
I look like a limping tramp,, in clothes unfit for a charity bag, and a well past it, pair of trainers,, but I've got a five and a half grand Omega, on my wrist, so I'm happy,, 🤣🤣 (apart from the painfull ankle,, 😢,,) great /funny video btw,, 👍

Well, I bought a Casio G-LIDE watch in December 2022 online at near hal;f-price, teal-colour, and discovered to my delight that it totally colour matched a whole bunch of polo-shirts that I have. Fortuitous or what? And I wear the combo to see if anyone notices. They bloody well don't to my chagrin. Living in a tropical clime means I don't have to worry about sweaters or jackets (except when I'm on my motor-bike, and I can't read the time properly on electronic speedo binnacle). So I wear a watch on the outside of my jacket, stealing a glance at the time when it's safe to do so (or even if it's not).

I can't wear a watch if it is not flat on my wrist, I can't understand people wearing loose watches. I do agree with wear a different watch every other day.

As regards wearing a watch and a smartwatch I think Sony's Wena 3 would be a great compromise. It's like a Fitbit that also functions as a watch bracelet/strap clasp/buckle.

I’ll also say that smart rings may work, depending on the functionality you’re after. Notification tracking obviously doesn’t work, but health and fitness stuff does.

Ad "loose watch" - If a watch sits tight on my wrist, it feels nice, until it starts to strangle my hand, which takes a minute. That's why I wear it loose-ish, with the option to slide it to a different position and back, for relief. If I'm walking and it slides below my wrist, no big deal.

Big hands small wrist, and my current watches are either slightly too tight or slightly too lose, so I go with too loose as if I wear them too tight I’ll sweat under the watch and have in the past developed a rash and had to go watch less while it healed.
