  • Part 4 in the series ''Southeast Turkey'' with Mick and Trudie, in this episode we visit the city of Gaziantep, the Zeugma museum and Halfeti a town partly submerged due to the formation of a lake backfill of the Bilecik dam, part of the hydro electric power project.
This part of Turkey has interesting history going back to the migration of mankind and the development of early religions and the first known agriculture. Some of the first built christian churches and mosques are all in this fascinating region.
Please watch and enjoy our five part series to the amazing, Southeast Turkey region.

In Fez, marrakech, Morocco are the same, tea sellers just walk around with mint tea on a tray. Why stand in line for Starbucks when coffee/ tea sellers wonder around. Gaziantep carpet factories are always worth to make trade with Commonwealth and Schengen countries. Southeastern Anatolian products are always being proruced with cheaper electricity and labor prices. Antep and Malatya workers earn for example net 2850 tl monthly wage while in Istanbul, Tekirdag or Izmit , workers earn 5000 -7000 tl per month, in Ankara worker earns 4000 tl wage per month in 2021. Many Turkey's 4 star, 5 star hotels change their all carpets with new carpets from Antep carpet factories each year or every 2 years time.

Mick, just a quick correction of a mistake made by many.
The "Rum" in the word Rumkale does not mean Greek.
It means Roma which is shortened/twisted over time as Rum by the Turks.
Remember, Turk conquered these lands from the Romans, not Greeks.
Turks called the incumbent inhabitants of these lands as Rum, meaning Romans.

actually never thought you would visit my home town lol , yep gaziantep is the food capital of turkey, you wont find restaurants of other cultures, since this city really loves its own cuisine and any other place probably wouldn't survive considering not many go there for tourism since it doesn't have a coast to a sea, but foreigners usually struggle with the spicy food ( even turks from western cities ), southeastern turkey eats really spicy food which we think is not even spicy until we see the perspective of people who aren't local :). Why don't they serve alcohol in the restaurants? Is it the law or for religious/cultural reasons?
