    Outdoor solar lights for security. At least 1 on each side of the house and 1 at each outbuilding. They will be there even if power goes out. For your safety as well as security.

    Having a shop like this would be awesome as if there were an SHTF situation you could just go to your shop and everything is there

    For hygiene - to save toilet paper I have a few portable bidets. A wash is better than a wipe in this case, I use only a bit of TP to dry.

    They are making car jump starters now with USB PLUG INS now. This can be used to help charge phones or anything else USB. Radios, fans, small heaters. It can help get you by for a few days. Just use it wisely.

    Bubble wrap also helps keep the cold out in windows as well. I have also hung blankets over the windows as well. Or vinyl tablecloths. They are flannel backed cloths.

    I love my kelly kettle for water and cooking- its so economical on fuel.
    Its amazing hiw many people donate candles on local free groups and charity shops- I've picked up loads for free . I also have wick floats you can use on a layer of cooking oil. How about solar lights?
    Vaseline is useful for wounds as well as starting fires on cotton wool. As a retired nurse ice always keot it in the hoyse but don't use on burns! Chlorhexadine body wipes ( i like fresh wipes) are much more effective than baby wipes to keep you fresh and prevent skin disorders when water is short.
    Books for first aid and DIY.

    Great video Leigh, got most of the items mentioned, but still given me a couple of ideas for stuff that'll fill the odd gap in my preps.
    So your the reason no-one could get any toilet paper 🧻 then ....🤣 only kidding mate, we had our own stock pile too ( praise the Lord for Cosco's )
    Only thing I can think of and this is for proper shtf never going to be the same again scenario would be a comprehensive sewing kit ( not talking hswf type that every squaddie would carry ) I'm talking patches, buttons, needles ( also good for bartering? ) cottons, zips etc etc. Going to need the old ww2 " make do and mend " spirit that our grand parents and parents had. Maybe also wool and knitting needles ? I'm lucky that my youngest daughter knits but might be a good skill for kids or anyone to learn ?
    You might already have them in your tool kit with the fixings and gaffa tape but just incase...different sized cable ties ( zip ) always handy even in an outdoor survival situation.
    Only luxury item I'd want personally and I know it'll only last for so long but it'd have to be my ipod ( other forms of music device are available) just to keep me sane when the world goes to S**T , I'm thinking " Book of Eli " kind of end of the world gig.
    Apart from that, hoofing video mate. 👍
    Right now off to prepare " punji stake traps " around my property just incase 😉 ( it's a joke CZcams police ! )
    Anyway ATB mate, stay safe
    Rob 👍

    You should add finger and toenail clippers to your sanitary kit and if you have to go get water a garden wagon will come in handy plus you can use it for other purposes like gathering fire wood

    It's also important to keep your home supplies together not spread out. One place easy to access and every family member knows where they are and how to use them. I also keep a few extra blow up air mattresses if other family needs to come to my home as well and I can provide a bed for them. A little more comfort in a bad situation. When you can get a night's sleep. You can make better decisions and everyone is less stressed.

    Two idea's that could come in handy when stock of things in an emergency are running out: Terry towel cut into toilet tissue size pieces to use as reusable toilet wipes or wet wipes (obviously wash properly after use. I've read about having a fabric laudry bag in a bin to put the used wipes into with scened oils to cover the smell and use the bag to wash the wipes in a manual washing machine or by hand washing), and keeping vaseline/petroleum jelly and cotton pads/balls in for fire lighters.

      @deanoktoday9155 Před rokem

      Watch the video again. I bet you have many items.
      Maybe start with a few packs of water. It's still available and cheap. Then add extra tins upon every grocery shop spending what you can justify. If you have a car look to see if there's a first aid kit. Maybe old camping gear hidden in the loft. Beg borrow and steal or join up with a mate and do some swaps.
      Small steps and you'll get there without the anxiety

  • @installtekzdotcom9777

    How about a car accessory category. A lead acid battery jump starter pack with USB sockets for LED strip lights and other low powered devices. Also a 12 volt kettle with the cigarette lighter connector. If you have a car then you have a generator to recharge the battery. Plus in SHTF there will be an awful lot of cars just sitting around with perfectly good batteries in them

    • @TheBugOutShop
      @TheBugOutShop  Před rokem

      Yes some good points, this was a video of what you can keep at home, but i agree the car can charge and run a number of different 12v devices as long as you have fuel. Thanks for watching

  • @jeffreymann639

    All these preps won't work if you're nuked so it's important to be underground as much of the time as you can and also insulation wasn't covered enough for long term survival like rock wool or polystyrene.
