Tiene un alma salsera.

how boring the American continent would be if African brothers and sisters hadn´t influenced us. Can´t imagine life without salsa, jazz, mambo, rumba, blues and so on. Greetings from Mexico. We proudly have the native Indian, European and African roots.
It wouldnt be boring, have some respect. All cultures are beautiful even does with none or little african influence
@@krystelalexandratejeda4415 I didn´t mean offending anyone but paying homage to my foots. Sorry if you felt offended.
Jesiel Medina millenials offended evrywhere 🤦🏻♂️
have more respect with our culture, you are mexican so you should know that in america are lots of native cultures, pueblos originarios precolombinos, like aymaras, mapuches, rapa nui, and a lot more. You cant say that america would be boring without the african influence.
@@pamelaibanez4608 you kids are a generation of cry for everythingers la neta!
This is by far one of the most historical moments in music. The drums that traveled from Africa to América with the slaves returned as Salsa, with new instruments in the hands of free and powerful people and in the voice of this Goddess. The great Celia Cruz and the Fania Orchestra.
😭 what a beautiful comment. 🥰
Salsa was invented in the 70s in New York, by latinos, of course.
This is a "Guaguanco" and not salsa...It's has an african dance that goes with it and it has nothing to do with the "Casino" danced in the 70s...You can't call Bell Peppers, a whole "Salsa" without the onions and tomato sauce...The term salsa was coined, because the other hispanics in New York could not tell the different rhythms of Cuban music apart... A Rumba, a Mambo, a ChaChaCha, a Guaracha, a Son Montuno were all thrown together into one word, to please those without the talent to tell them apart...Sorry if the truth hurts, but it doesn't change it one bit...

Dang Gina you told him and set him on the straight and narrow. What part of Africa are you from?
@@jamescharros1299 Yo soy Mora y tu?...What part of Africa are you from?...
My late husband Maestro Salvador "Sal" Cuevas recorded 18 albums with Celia Cruz and was part of Fania All Stars. Also platinum album with Billy Idol Eyes without a face. BTW he adored Celia like a mother.
Wow! Thanks for posting!
Salvador Cuevas - la leyenda - "Maestra Vida", "Plastico", etc
My God! The good old times of Celia, and the fania. The beauty of great Salsa!❤❤❤❤❤
Sal Cuevas was the bets bass player ever !!!!!
It's good that you point out the genre she would mostly sing. It wasn't salsa. Salsa was invented in the Usa early or mid 70s by this same group of people but what she used to sing the most was "guaguancó", " rumba", and other traditional caribbean rythms.
You must have to react to Celia Cruz's song: Dile que por mi no tema. Please. It's just amazing.
She is Cuban, in the revolution she came to Mexico with the Sonora Matancera group and here she became a star 🌟 , then emigrated to NY where the Salsa was invented by her and others singers , she is a Leyend , the best ❤️
She was a star in Cuba and sang with Benny More before he went to Mexico...They were winners of the talent radio show of Radio Progreso in the 40s...Olga Guillot was also a winner of that show...Thank you Mexico for loving our Cuba too...Blessings...
And was Star first in vENEZUELA
thank you for appreciating cuba 🇨🇺 & Celia :)
Awe, I love the comment, I feel the same way....
No usaré calificativos contra ti .te has pasado.
You are amazing!!
This was filmed in Zaire, Africa. Her “backup singers” were phenomenal salsa singers themselves preforming that night too. She was the only female salsa singer tutoring with most male salsa singers.
Jose Feliciano, was not a singer or participated with the the Fania!!!!!! This is amazing 👏
Es Cheo
Correct
This a luxury day for your channel Andy
Celia Cruz is a true legend. She is Cuban but we the Mexicans love her very very much! Azucar!!!

Celia lives and gain popularity in Mexico when she left Cuba. She did live her last days from Miami.

The bandleader is the legendary Johnny Pacheco! from The Fania All Stars
Johnny Pacheco died on February 15th, 2021. Rest in peace great Pacheco.
And Celia Cruz
Johnny Pacheco is even more importantly FOUNDER of Fania :)
Follow on Instagram @fansjohnnypacheco
i dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
The Queen of Salsa!!💯💯💜💜 R.I.P Celia Cruz🙏 Thank you beautiful soul.🥰👍
C'mon you have to 💃🕺🕺💃🕺💃💃💃💃🕺🕺🕺 "Azucar!"
Celia was such a Goddess, Azucar became her "war cry", when she said that you knew it was party time :) she brought so much joy to people while she was alive, and obviously beyond, the absolute Queen of Salsa, love her forever
And Willi.Colon in the trombone all stars!!!
I want to dance like the Director. I am so envious of his moves. Celia is amazing. In Mexico we love her very much.
I love Celia Cruz! This is why she was called The Queen of Salsa! We Cubans love her!
😭😭😭So... I'm here, I'm crying like a baby because you are not with us, she was a fantastic singer💃😭😭😭
My grandparents were from Mexico and my grandmother LOVED Celia Cruz. It was her house cleaning music. The last album I bought her was live in Broadway circa 2000 and it was fire. Had to buy her a CD player too.
Woooooo CUBA! WOOOOO! lol. It's been ages since I listened to Celia Cruz. Grew up listening to her songs like a dang anthem. I think she is the first singer that comes to mind when you think about famous Cuban singers.
Cheo Feliciano, Ismael Miranda, Herctor Lavoe ...
Juan lazo Cerda 🇵🇷🇩🇴🇨🇺
They took the best latin musicians & percussionist to that concert in Africa
OMG I'm so happy you reacted to Celia I'm from Cuba, I can not tell you how much love I have for her doesn't your body wants to start moving as soon as you hear the rumba 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Bongó is a musical instrument
The band leader is Jhonny Pacheco one of salsa creator, the maestro Jhonny Pacheco that band you hear had all the best singers of salsa also the best instrument players, the trompet there is being played by the bad boy of salsa, the entire band came to be the most famous stars of salsa. It was a mix of afro caribean stars Johnny Pacheco is dominicano. This rythm was created in NYC by the way. Klk su pana de Santo Domingo!
Salsa like its name says is a mixture of many ingridients, by the way the piano player is actually jewish, they called him the wonderful Larry Harllow, the Fania was managed by an italian name joey masuchi, salsa got Influence from every coner of this earth. Even Jorge Santana the brother of the eléctric guitar player was part of Fania, el ratón is one of his sólo performance. Salsa was very much Influenced by the NYC music scene of the time. Salsa is a testimony of how great things could be when we put it together
Correction but those rhythms where NOT created in NYC. They where created in Cuba. The orchestra is called "The Fania All Stars. "
@@7sonero7 no Fania was a NY based band and Salsa a gender was created by them, casino and guaracha are similar but not the same. Puerto Rico has influence sala more than cuba
@@TheReyesj The rhythms incorporated into the genre we know as "Salsa" . Are Afro Cuban rhythms . Those facts have been well documented.
@@TheReyesj No sir that is not correct. Fania all stars did not create the Salsa gender. They just renamed son montuno that Cuban band leaders like Arsenio Rodriguez and others where playing in NYC at that time.
A Great legend ....❤️🙏🏼 this reminds me of when my parents used to play her on the stereo when I was a little girl so many wonderful memories. I love you Celia Cruz ❤️
Seeing your excitement as you watch these performances make the music more enjoyable. I grew up listening to a lot of the Latin music that you react to but I guess that since I was so used to it I never really stopped to enjoy it the way you do. Makes me appreciate it more now, as an adult
I love your reactions!
She was awesome!!!!!
In México love her so much
Andy, love you 😊

That’s is The Queen at Her Best!!! The Orchestra is The Fania All Start , They’re the Best of The Best. The Band Líder was the father “Pacheco” who founded The Fania All Start! I’m Glad that you’re doing this ! Azucarrrrr
This is the greatest moment in the history of Salsa music. I got goosebumps to see so many greats like Johnny Pacheco, Ray Barretto, Hector LaVoe, etc.
What impresses me (aside from the amazing energy,) is her ability to make the performance sound flawless. Anyone who has jogged or just danced - especially to Latin music - knows just how exhausting it is. And for her to not to miss a beat. Amazing breath control.
Beautiful! Gorgeous! The one and only... The eternal Queen!
Fun to dance to too! The song is long because people loved to dance and dance. I remember the house parties my parents had and seeing all the adults going all out with their moves. The repetition of the lyrics and length of the song is to enjoy a long and lively dance. 🇵🇷
Yes Andy he is the band leader his name is Johnny Pacheco a great composer & musician
Profesor. She Is the best. ❤️
She was, and still is cause People like her never die, just magic. It have been an honor to watch her performing live
for me... best female “salsa” singer ever 🙌😎 that is like a Dream Team concert.. best artist from a label called Fania... their together were called Fania All Star.. best of that genre by the time
Reacciona a Héctor Lavoe, PLISSSS. Me harías muy feliz.🌺
The Fania ALL STARS! All are legends.
The backup singers, all of them are Super Stars singers too, that is why they sound great! And also, the musicians were superstars; most of them had their own orchestra.
What a fun performance. Made my heart smile. AND as always, loved Andy's enthusiasm. Too cute!
Thank you for your appreciation of one of our many treasures
As my father used to say: “take any word or phrase, repeate it, put some good rhythm on it, and you’ll have a great Cuban song”
Lol. Yeah it's very trance like and very bright, it gets you in a zone.
The one and only. The Queen of Salsa music CELIA CRUZ. Thank you Andy. This made me happy.
The diversity of your selected singers and actual attention to lyrics is so heartwarming. And how you got excited about this true Queen was awesome!

is funny how his head moves at the rithm of the music PROFESOR ANDY I am already addicted to your videos you have shown us a new way to aprecciate our own latin music from your professional perspective and point of view. and every detail you explain about singing techniques that most of the time we are not aware......as well as the translation of the lyrics from spanish to english which happens to be very didatic for those of us whose native language is spanish......as you just said is difficult sometimes to find the moment.where to pause to make the comment ja ja .thank you so very much

Yes sir..the guy in the white shirt is Johnny Pacheco the band leader and co-founder of Fania Records..he and Celia Cruz recorded many albums together.. Great music..!!
She gave performances like this full of life and she gave her life on the stage up until her 80s. We will never have another Celia Cruz and for that I am sad. Mexico loves her.
The band leader shown in this video is none other than Johnny Pacheco who is also a flautist. He has played for the band which was the Fania All-Star consisted of musicians and singers of the Salsa music from the late 1960s to the late 1970s.

Great reaction.
She had such a regal presence on that stage. Everything from that dress, right down to her smile exudes I AM A QUEEN.
In your reaction something really touched me... I have seen this video so many times and never thought about the message that she actually intended to spread all over the world which you actually were able to "see": "CELEBRATE LIFE". We must smile more and be happy no matter what, just like she did until the end of her days.
Andy you’re the best
Finally some Latin Caribbean music!!
Oh my gosh you're so adorable. Celia and Johnny are truly icons in latin culture! 😻

One of the best artist and performer of all time! She always called out her band members and she had her own style. Look up her shoes she had them made for her. I love her.
Celia was truly a treasure! An amazing performer and humble human being. Her farewell funeral processions in Miami and NYC were attended by hundreds of thousands and are a testament to how much she was loved. Cuban born and citizen of the world. Every country she performed at called her their own. She was a beautiful soul.
