    This was my first time at this specific faire, as well! I've been to other Ren Faires before, but none this impressive! I was also here on Viking and Barbarian weekend and actually spotted my partner and I in the background of the video a few times!

    The best time to hit the Peacock Tea Room is first thing in the morning. We usually head straight there after rope drop and sit down to have a nice brunch and watch the first show at the King's Hall. Later in the day, you just can't get in.

    It's good to see one of these Renaissance shows with trees, on the scale of ours in Arizona, held from mid-winter to early-spring, our grounds and shows and exhibits are as expansive as a Disney park, just short on shade though the trees they have are placed well.
    When our daughter was 'yiddle', about age eight, fifteen years ago, we went to our Renaissance Faire crossing 60 miles of suburbs from our side of Phoenix, at the White Tank Mountains to just south of the suburb of Apache Junction, near the Superstition Mountains.
    The place was a hit with us, an all day event, and we repeated the trip the next year. My daughter dressed up but my wife and I did not--we were the camera crew, lol, though our daughter did give us some free time to grab an ale.
    It was surreal and escapist and they still put on the show there, and it was not until I saw the arid area near Toledo Spain that I realized even in Arizona, the climate and landscape is as it was when the Renaissance reached Spain.

    there wasn't a line to get into the Peacock TeaRoom
    there was a line to get on the waiting list to get into the Peacock TeaRoom
    went there 1st day to celebrate my nephew's B-day
    waited 20 minutes to be told there was a 3-hour wait to be seated
    it is rather pricey, but well worth the cost and wait
    I recommend the House Tea (but ask for light ice)
    a perfect spot for lunch, especially since it is right next to the King's Hall Stage
    so you get great food and a show

    I really enjoyed your video! I’m going this weekend with my family and I haven’t been since 1996. It’s amazing how much it’s changed. Back then I think it circled more around the renaissance era with some 11th and 12th century Norman and Viking stuff, but most of the actors spoke in an old English accent. I’m sure that the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean movies have brought about a big influence. I think I noticed more of a fantasy hippie Woodstock feel there than I remember from my childhood but I’m really looking forward to a turkey leg and a ginger beer!🍺

    there are no lines. What time is this filmed? There are hardly any people. Am I dreaming? The TN ran fair was hopelessly crowded. Lines and traffic galore. On may 21 we couldn't even get in. This looks so much better.

    • @toddventure
      @toddventure  Před rokem +1

      The gates open at 10:30 am. I started filming at around 10am for the pre-show. It's really an organized mass of people rather than a line. From what I could tell, most everyone pre bought their tickets and just whipped out their phones to scan the barcode. Moved efficiently and quickly. There was barely a ticket line at the booth.

    Very peculiar how similar this is to the Carolina one, even down to the layout of the entrance and the pre-show and building architecture. (also the performers having a balcony at the overlook entrance) The vendors, especially the food ones are eerily similar too, even down to how they're laid out and advertised throughout the fair grounds. I couldn't find any info online about whether they're ran by the same holding/parent company but I'm going to go on a limb here and say it's managed by the same conglomerate or something. Thanks for the interesting video. I enjoyed it!

    • @toddventure
      @toddventure  Před rokem +1

      Different company. I've been going to CRF for over 25 years now, and there are definitely major differences.
      To be honest, you really need to experience it yourself, and you will see the differences in person. I love CRF, but with 38 years of GARF, I'm sure they went through their growing pains as well.
      1986, GARF is owned by Jack Sias
      1994, CRF is owned by Jack Siegel, who also runs the Arizona Renaissance Festival through the Parent company Royal Faires.
      The entrance to most Renaissance Festival is very common. This is to help entertain and speak to the crowds as they wait to enter. 🙂
      Make sure to check it out. You'll have a great time for sure. 🙂

    • @toddventure
      @toddventure  Před 9 měsíci +1

      If you carry a real weapon...ie. sword, Daggers, etc. The peace tie shows that it has been checked and tied with a ribbon. This also indicates that it must remain holstered in its sheath or scabbard and never removed while on property.
