There's about 5-6 gas stations. You just weren't on the correct road. 🙂 We moved to Aberdeen about 3 years ago and love it. Nicest people I've ever met. Sure, there's problems but no different from anywhere else right now. Life's good wherever you are if you make it that way! Thanks for viewing our cities!
Thanks for the info! I love going to the Safeway there when we visit the coast :) Glad you are enjoying your new home, I like most people only see the town from the highway, someday I will get off the main road and check out the hills.
Just some personal time stamps for me because I really miss My hometown and Washington:
4:58 : On the hill on the right I see the hospital where I was born.
5:13 : The giant house on the right is where my grandparents used to live before they moved.
9:02: On the left I went to that park daily
9:08 : On the right I always went to the The Hum-Dinger and got bubble gum ice cream.
I had a bast there when I was little…
I am so glad the video brought back your childhood memories! So much is changing everywhere sometimes things are unrecognizable.
My husband and I are moving to Washington in April! We are from Georgia and we are so excited and nervous for this adventure. He’s getting job transferred there. The company is in Hoquiam. Looks like a cute town! Thank you for posting this so we can get an idea of what it looks like!
You are welcome :) Ocean Shores and Westport are fun to visit, always something going on near the ocen. If you like hiking Olympic National Park is one of the best!
If you fly over in a plane the way the streets are laid out it spells the word HELL
At 4:55 there's a building on the hill. That's where I was born. At 0.25 there's a tall building on the right. The first floor had an ice cream parlor when I was a kid. Also a grocery store downtown had an escalator up to the second floor where they had a cafeteria. We had lunch there alot. I see posts about downtown, which is sad. However, when I was a kid downtown was a busy place, full of people and stores. The docks were full of Japanese cargo ships also.
I can't image what it would have been like back then. The fall of the logging industry decimated the regions economy.
OMG. I studied in Aberdeen High School back in 1997. This city literally has not changed at all. Like Dead 💀 downtown as usual

I really like your style, its like the natural style that sounds easy but I can imagine it took a load of skill.
I like the Pacific North-west vibe both in Wa. and BC. Very cool.
It is not to hard, just a lot of planning on bringing what I need and where I am going for the day. Plus I try to do the driving videos by myself so my wife doesn't have to just listen, she won't talk with the camera on! It does take longer hiking sometimes because I like to stop and get video. The longest part is actually watching the videos and making any minor edits and then exporting them to a CZcams format. I usually upload at night and schedule them for sometime the next day.
Please name street(s) you're driving on and turning at; that would be helpful.
Just stuck to the highway this trip, I usually put the major street routes in the description. Now I tend to use navigation so it is very loud when Miss Google talks. She does a turn by turn with the road names :)

From my perspective hoquiam is a decent place but its still a bit sad
It is to bad the timber industry has suffered so much, must have been bustling back in the day.

next tim when your goig through aberdeen take a right on broadway. it goes to snake hill . and drive akk over up there. you will see so great historic homes

I live here now… it is one of the most depressing towns around. Nothing good comes out of Aberdeen and hoquiam
That is to bad, the downtown area has so much potential with all of the old buildings.
True, best thing to come from Hoquiam was Nirvana and abandoned buildings used for graffiti art and drug deals.

Yep, I drive by it on this loop tour. I want to actually go back and do a hike there soon and walk around the lake/lodge area. It is a beautiful area!
Beautiful there. I lived at a RV park about 5 minutes down the road from there. Believe it or not during the winter months people find big foot prints in the snow. It get quiet out during the winter months there. So if there is something out there this world be a spot to check it out.
