I even knit in church, which has sparked comments and questions about knitting and now I have a monthly "Fiber Friends" fellowship at my house and several from church bring their crochet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, any fiber they want to work on, and we spend the evening with our fiber of choice.

Hello from Canada 🇨🇦. I'm 61, maybe been knitting 50yrs....I love learning new techniques. I'm knitting a sweater right now and I'm using 3 new-to-me techniques on the ribbing that has elevated the look of the ribbing. I'm a sucker for a KAL....hope to join in on the Unspun Heroes after my Christmas knitting. I've ordered nutiden this month for the Nostalgic Sweater Coat, which I think I'll knit to mid-thigh length instead of full-length. As for the MKAL...I agree, it's about learning new things from a master designer, and the sense of community 😀

I love the idea of a bougy sweatshirt! I think Kate Oates has a cute sweatshirt pattern! I’m gonna go check! She’s a great designer too! Ok if you don’t have a rack (well even if you do) I show my students how to “build” a rack from wilted celery stalks and those carrots in the bin that have seen better times 😃 just cris cross them in the bottom of the pan and set your roast (Thanksgiving Turkey - beef, anything) on these veggies- they can be the older ones because they just rise the meat up and bring flavor but aren’t for eating (they are way over-cooked by the time it’s done) so you just toss them after cooking, but you also never have to wash that dang rack again! Yea!

I'm also knitting a Classic Ribbed Hat. I agree that learning new things help you to progress. I recently learned how to do an I-cord edging and how to add new yarn on the purl side. Some of these questions cracked me up! I really enjoyed the ride at the end.

Loved today. Thank you for the sit-knit-chat. I knitted on my half and half triangles wrap. I have my yarn to knit the MKAL22’ already caked and finishing up my SOHO top….. last row. I was worried about yarn so I did finish my armholes and neckline first as my body sat at 7 inches. Yeeessss, I am going to be good as I will finish with enough yarn. Btw…. The end ride on your property looks like we are on a “ quad-runner”…… loved that piece of equipment. My dad welded a fabulous weed sprayer attachment for this and it was a work horse of a machine. Take care!

It’s hotter than you know what here in Oklahoma too. Makes me a little nervous to put the work into a sweater and then can’t wear it … so I have never knit one. Maybe a KAL would get me motivated to try!

Hello from a fellow Arkansan! I enjoy your podcasts so much I'm always sad when they end.. I think you convinced me to join the Stephen West mkal just to learn some new techniques. I may try just making a "mini version" to practice the stitches and decide if I like the pattern before investing the time to knit a full size shawl. I'd also be up for a sweatshirt knit along. Have you considered the Brooklyn Raglan by Tori Yu? Loved your music choices, too!

A sweatshirt KAL sounds perfect! Depending on when it starts, Emily Curtis from gently chaotic podcast is working on releasing my dad's sweater ( currently in testing). That would totally fit the bill for a throw on, wardrobe staple knitwear. Plus it's knitted in worsted so it should be a relatively quick knit. Love your podcasts!! ❤️❤️

I've been wanting to join my first KAL so this is perfect! I have a plate of plutoloppi and it's the first rustic wool that I think actually smells like sheep 😍...I heard if you hold it with Einbend (Istex's laceweight alpaca I think), it makes a softer fabric...I might try it out.
