I played against well known Chess legend Yasser Seirawan. He was a former 4 time US National Champion. Games were played at the Charlotte Chess Center!
Wait a minute. She says she worked through all the puzzles in "his" book and then says the book was "How to Reassess your Chess" ( by IM Jeremy Silman)? Yasser is very gracious though and doesn't even call out her error.
I bought all four of his Winning Chess books back in the 90s. I still have two of them, and have no idea where the other two ran off to. I ought to reread them at some point.
It is always a pleasure to watch Yasser (such positive energy) and Alex is so driven that she is also fun to watch! I could see the "downward pressure" Yasser created along the diagonal (8:31 into the vid) when he played his first red token on the top row (winning move!!!) and because it stops Alex from playing (in this case) the losing move in the far right column (where she accidentally played), I counted spots left for them to play and "even if" she did not play the losing move on the far right they would have taken consecutive turns played everywhere else available and Alex in the end "would have been forced" to play there and lose!!! I suspect Yasser knows well the "downward diagonal" pressure tactic!!!! :) Did he tell her about his experience here? ... I think not!! :)
I was making notes for myself. Not sure if this is accurate but i think you missed Na6 at 4:32 to attack the bishop and win the pawn at c6. Then you also missed Nxb8 to win the pawn at c6 at 5:25
It’s funny. I used to play at tournaments where Yasser was playing all the time although he was in obviously a better group. But I played basketball with him a couple times and he was pretty good. But at that time I think maybe he had just win the World Junior title. In the late 70s he was almost like a rock star.
Knight takes E5 at 5:07 would be curious. Queen takes kinight, queen takes queen, pawn takes queen, rook takes rook, rook takes rook, rook takes rook would have won the exchange. If pawn takes knight then rook x rook, rook x rook and rook takes rook also wins the exchange. Looks like a good idea. Did I miss something? Oh, and the last two are checks so the bishop falls too. It would have been a won game for white. Did I miss something??
Bro needs to use that voice to narrate reddit posts.
Sam Kinison would be a better match for Reddit
I need to get AI involved to do that. His voice on Reddit vitriol sounds hilarious.
His voice just hits different...
This is the guy who did the commentary on the Hikaru Eric fight
"the guy" jesus christ almighty
He is so nice ❤
And very generous. All he's got to do is shove the C pawn.
I like Yasser he is so soft spoken and humble 😊
What a nice and genuine guy, it was a heartwarming meeting.
Such a cool guy. Never fails to bring smile on people's face 😊
Why does this guy sound so sophisticated. It's like rizz on cruise control.
English mother
Best description I’ve ever heard
Yasser is such a class act
What a wholesome person! ❤
lmaooo the ending. hilarious
It turns out Connect Four has a Botez Gambit as well.
It was acutally game over in four moves (each) anyway. Eventually she would have had to put the marker were she did anyway.
0.5/2 against Yasser, not bad. :)
Super video Alex. A pleasure to watch.
He has a fantastic ASMR voice, I'd love to see him commentate chess all the time.
Wait a minute. She says she worked through all the puzzles in "his" book and then says the book was "How to Reassess your Chess" ( by IM Jeremy Silman)?

he seems nice and kind
I absolutely love Yasser's voice,so calming.
Why is Yasser not commenting on the fide channel on the events. He's the best commentator I think with Kasparov.
He's commentating for the St. Louis chess club, you can check it out on yt or
twitch
The way he plays is like watching someone dancing waltz!
Legend
Anything Yasser related is so wholesome
The Kool aid guy made my day
2:47 like a seasoned youtube pro, he provided the thumbnail for this video.
I bought all four of his Winning Chess books back in the 90s. I still have two of them, and have no idea where the other two ran off to. I ought to reread them at some point.
"Who invited you to have a plan?" 😅I'm gonna use that. GGs!
What a great guy. I too read his books back in the day.
Think Ill play his personality again in Chess master PC game after seeing this.
WOW... DRAW WITH SEIRAWAN!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
Excellent content!
Wow he even entertained you with connect 4. Class act indeed.
What a lovely guy.

Love games where there is some chatter. So much more interesting that classical OTB
GM Seriawan is one of my >favorite chess teachers and people-a gracious man (without the empty ego of many who DON'T have his accomplishments).
This was so wholesome
Like Tony Bennett, Yasser can do no wrong. 😉
lol you can tell Alex is nervous. I would be too 😂
Such a gentleman

Sir, Yas Ser!
Yasser is the GOAT
What is the name of the melody in the background?
Great video. They should try to play shogi, that would be interesting.
this video just feels smooth

The constant verbalising of whatever is going through their minds is fascinating.
Smoooooth!
I own nearly the entire "winning chess" collection authored by yasser seirawan. I was merely learning the basics back then.
Such delightful wholesome trash talk.
What a nice geezer.
That was fun!
This guy is an absolute gentleman the franksenartra of chess
I especially like Gotham's impression of him.
6:25 this is very true though, I won from and drew opponents that are waaay higher rated (600-800 higher rated) by trading a lot of pieces.
Somebody should send Yasser that 90 page PhD thesis on the game of Connect Four.
Wholesome
Impossible to forget to R.C Sproul in his free time playing Chess!😂
Oh no, my pawn...
Sorry, I'm confused... You're thanking GM Seirawan for a book you studied growing up written by IM Silman?
If I'm not mistaken silman coauthored a book or two with seirawan.
@@howiedick6857 Yes, that's probably it. "Reassess Your Chess" and all of Seirawan's books/videos were also favorites here when starting out as well.
If they wouldnt have talked it wouldve gone better for both
He looks and sounds like Benicio Del Toro :o
5:55 I love how you say you shouldn't just move pieces back and forth. Then immediately do it again. lol.
Shout out to the Ned Flanders of the chess world!
“The theory of four in a row?” 🤣
Ng5 on that drawn game didn’t have any tactics?
"Stop" :D
0:30 : How cute ! 😍
there was Nxd5 after Qe6
Yasser seems busted
When she said I have a small surprise for you.. :)
Knight takes E5 at 5:07 would be curious. Queen takes kinight, queen takes queen, pawn takes queen, rook takes rook, rook takes rook, rook takes rook would have won the exchange. Actually, 6:07 is the time to take the pawn.
Call Magnus or Alireza for finding you a plan!
So at 5.51 why didnt he take the knight on b5 with his queen?
How to Reassess Your Chess was written by Jeremy Silman, and not Yaz. ?
Lovely!! 😂😂
Andrea is Gorgeous 😍😍😍
Alex missed Nxd5 idea 6:05
I was looking at Nxd5 and at first thought it was winning. But it loses to g4. because the queen can't move anywhere without dropping the knight.
@@kaseyperkins8ohh my bad g4 is nice idea i completely forget 😅😂
Meanwhile, Nazí Paikidze is being pestered by the Gremlin.
Hangisi daha tatlı karar veremedim
This was the worst middle game ever. They were just playing fencing with each other.
You could have way more view if this was posted on the main chanel.
I think their main channel is going to be about personalities (not sure if that's how you call it), and this one the chess.
I think he is secretly in love with Alex. But who is not.
he has rizz
Was a funny video👌🏼
At 6.06 in the video, it’s her turn and she can take the pawn at D5 with her knight. He can’t retake with his pawn.
Seems that way to me too
alex missed Nd5
goat
There is a God; he loves me!
4:27 I was saying move the knight! then it shuffled away from the fork :(
❤❤❤
lovely
Your friand waiting names of Karpov and Kasparov but this one becameUS citizen

Oooh suave. Girl seems uncomfortable though
