    The boat launch worried me, it came off the trailer too steeply. Transom almost dipped below the water.

      It was launched as though they were disposing of incriminating evidence!

    Just get in your boat, be sensible, and go and enjoy yourself. The reason people enjoy boating is because we want to escape the bullshit. We leave it all behind at work, or on the road, or every other part of life that binds us up in regulation. For god sake, don't destroy the last bastion of freedom we have.

    This is one of the most condescending instructors I’ve ever heard. Did the Powerboat level 2 course when I purchased my first boat and it was actually really useful to get the basics, but we had a great instructor.

    I've only got 17yrs experience. These courses should be for people who feel they need them, not compulsory.

    I have PB2 and certs for IC C..
    One worry is the number of families on little power boats with no one wearing life jacket or buoyancy aid
    Water is to cold in uk to swim in uk for any time
    I normally sail a Hunter Horizon 23 but found the PB2 VeryUseful I found the maneuvering the Hunter under outboard power much more gentle and slow works better...

    Boating just seems different in England. Tiny boats. Expensive fuel. Heavy regulations about everything. Crazy tidal ranges. People idling long boats up narrow canals in traffic jams at 1 mph............

      Not always, tiny boats or expensive fuel. You can on the UK take any boat to sea (well upto a certain size) with no skill, training or knowledge.

    these guys sound so patronising and pompous, it's wonder the skipper never chucked him overboard and practised his MOB on him. I have been through RYA training myself and hold a couple of certificates. Learning is supposed to be fun and informative.

    I've been boating since i was 9 years old driving a 30' lobster boat on some of the roughest waters in the UK to owning my own boats for years. if you seriously want people to do this you should pay them. what a load of hogwash.

    • @waynematthews2362
      @waynematthews2362 Před 4 lety +1

      It's great for people just getting into boating and gives them the basics. Obviously an entry level course isn't going to be helpful to someone with alot of knowledge and experience.

      Wayne Matthews I’m not sure it’s a legal requirement to have insurance. I know there are rules but they are flexible compared to driving a car say.

    • @waynematthews2362
      @waynematthews2362 Před 4 lety

      @@chrism1273 depends where you are boating as to weather you need insurance. Come harbours and inland waterways require it.
