@@joeymiddleton5821 The true test is next year when Spencer and Newton are gone. I think Klingan stays one more season before the NBA, but if he goes with Spencer and Newton that's a lot of production gone for next year.
The lack of consistency of our three point team shooting could betray us in this next game. Hope I’m wrong but it’s a weakness right now and right now is all that matters.
This team is a low-key juggernaut. Meaning yes, a few lottery picks, but no bonafide "superstars" a la UNLV. Yet they are a WRECKING MACHINE. And have only lost 1 non-conference game in TWO YEARS. 🤯 Stick a fork in the field. They're done.
Crazy stuff happens in the Tournament and no program knows that better than UConn. I’m telling you, Purdue is a better team right now. Their big guy cancels out Klingan and if the shooting is off, UConn loses against them. Period. I worry that UConn might get overconfident and get clipped.
UConn is better at every position except center, newton > smith, Spencer > loyer, castle > jones, karaban > Kaufman renn, diarra > all of Purdues bench
If they get by SDState, Illinois may be the stumbling block. They are fast and can score at will. UConn’s been weak with shooting threes. They need to start going through the net.
Perdue doesn't have a tastycake stretch either. I think Gonzaga will give Perdue a dogfight and NC State is a good team as well as Marquette and Houston. Also watch out for Creighton if they drain the threes. people also better not sleep on North Carolina.
The thing is, Clingan being outfactored hasn't worked in and of itself for any opponent this season. UConn has lost three times, and each time was when three things happened at once: 1. Clingan out injured or with foul trouble 2. ALL BUT ONE starter couldn't make their shots 3. Opponent played at home Other teams can play good D and get the first two done, but who is getting a home game at this point? UConn has a fourth, fifth, and sixth gear they switch on in the second half, and that's where you need the crowd completely behind you, otherwise the Huskies will maul.
