A friend from Jersey City used to talk about the Hurley family when we watched basketball. As a UCONN fan for over 30 years, the 5th was really special.
I understand all too well the shadow that an older brother can extend to a younger one. My brother was an All-American in track and received 25 football scholarships while playing at Saint Joe’s in Montville . It’s tough being that younger brother. But you can do great things once that shadow is lifted. You have to respect their father who went to Saint Peter‘s College in Jersey City and served as a parole officer for a time. Perhaps it’s not obvious but there’s a closeness that New Jersey instills in its inhabitants. Maybe it’s the density of the population. Maybe it’s the craziness of being so close to the city. But this piece captures that in spades. It’s a wonderfully piece despite missing some back stories that would’ve made it richer. Congratulations to the Hurley family. And congratulations to the mother and father. You raised two great guys.
I’m 18 months apart from my brother, who is a stranger/near enemy to me. It’s beautiful to see a story of close brothers. Their parents did a great job.
Went to St Benedict’s. Hurley was quite the character. One of my favorites. Earned an A in his history class 😅. So happy for him. Great guy.

as a UNC alum having met Bobby in Chapel Hill after a UNC loss at the Smith Center.. I’ve finally got some true respect for him and definitely for his Natty winning brother. This video could have been an hour long and I’ve watched the entire video. ❤

Sad to see this because I grew up watching both of them play Dan doesn't give himself enough credit for how good he was. I represent Yukon fan so I watched Danny play a lot against my team and always respected him. When you got signed with Uconn I could have been more happy. Thank you Dan.

I went to St Anthony's HS in Jersey City N.J in 1990 i met both Hurley in my highschool.
Some of Jersey’s finest! Congrats to Danny on winning the national championship and hopefully Bobby can as a coach one day to!

I use to run dwn on Bobby Hurley growing up in Jersey City n Lincoln Park his Dad wanted me to attend St.Anthonys but I couldn't keep my grades up there was alpt of talent in those. Pickup games
