- Desmond Bane is a strong, sharpshooting guard/wing with high defensive upside and versatility. He's also a great passer and excels out of the Pick & Roll. Bane also happens to have the rare, negative wingspan.
With his skillset, I'm confident Bane will be able to make an instant impact in the league. How big of an impact is another question but from what I've gathered he's a high-character guy who works hard. He definitely should've been in my initial big board.

His jumper isn't even bad mechanically, it's just a little more to the forehead then what you'd normally see, there's still fluidity but because it's too close to the center you don't have that natural "flick" of the wrist for the ball to go faster, hence a slower release.
(Cont). If he were a primary option against NBA defenses, I'd be concerned about his slightly slower shot and lack of explosiveness but as a NBA spot starter, he becomes immensely valuable. The question always is: How high to value these type of players? I'd give a 15th overall pick grade, meaning for my 76ers I'd try to move up to secure him if scouts aren't having a run on athletes at their position. If I get the feel that teams are drafting more athletically, I can calmly take Bane at 21. But I do want him.

I like his secondary playmaking potential but man, that wingspan scares me. Nearly every one in the league has pretty long arms, and if he can't make enough space to shoot he's gonna get blocked left and right.

His limitations are all out of his control but at worst he’ll be a good starter in the nba. You can tell he loves the game and has no holes in his game. He’s a hard worker and will do big things in the league, will be a steal for whoever gets him.
Top 20 pick. Maybe 15. Very good player.
If he's in Phoenix, it'd be a very good bench player behind Devin Booker instead, which is just as acceptable in this case.

Granted, I still would have gone for Brandon Clarke if I had the chance to redo last year's draft (maybe even Tyler Herro), but still! Cameron performed a lot better than I expected a rookie of his age to do for us, and I say Desmond Bane would fit in just as well as the other selections around this range the last few years here so far for Phoenix! That being said, still sucks that guys like Devin Vassell and Saddiq Bey are out for this particular year's combine. :/

Apparently Phoenix is very interested in Desmond Bane lately. I could see why there... though that wingspan does give me a bit of pause. Also, his shooting stroke is definitely off to see, but if he's *that confident in it* to make it work for him, I figure why not leave it be? It might be like Shawn Marion there: off, but workable.

The Bucks should get him as a long term solution for the SG/SF position. DiVicenzo is not yet ready to start at SG, and will be a great energy guy off the bench at best. With Matthews and Korver getting older, I think Bane will solve Milwaukee's problems at the SG position.
Well, good news is Desmond's agent thinks they're a team interested in selecting him the most. Bad news is Philly & Phoenix also are.

@@boochtron I think with 14, 26 and 30 some combination of future picks available for trade they can probably get any two players the Celtics want in back half of the draft. Aside from any big deals, something like use 26 and 30 to move up a couple of spots could get Desmond bane. If he goes 20 maybe the trade is like Celtics 14 for bane and a future top half protected first or something

This draft is so down spoken on it’s not funny, you can’t identify a BEST PLAYER because A LOT OF THESE GUYS are gonna be at minimum , good role players for 12 + years. Lamelo playmaking and size can take him a long way, Wiseman in the right system can be a Deandre Jordan prototype, Toppin is a 6’9 forward that has a ton of upside offensively and an NBA body already , Onyeka can run the floor well for a big and is efficient in the PNR, Deni is my pick for top 3 rookie convo next season, he’s a WELL ROUNDED PLAYER, Edwards in minny as a 3 option will be big for him, he has an NBA game from the offensive side, Oladipo ish if he translates to the right system. You got shooters like Nesmith, Maxey, Bane, Terry, even Isaiah Joe , Mannion is a good playmaker and decision maker, Tre Jones is solid defensively and can make plays , Cole, Tyrese, Killian translate only depending on the systems for them, same with terry and lewis, Okoro is good defensively, jalen smith is SLEPT ON A, RJ Hampton looks like Jordan Clarkson , mcdaniels, Saddiq, josh green, and Patrick williams look comfortable in iso (that’s huge) dude from Memphis reminds me of Gerald Wallace and Cassius Stanley has huge IQ, as well as riller, Woodard , and Tillman .

Die hard grizzlies fan here. See alot of similarties to Dillon Brooks pulling 3s. Memphis needs consistent shooting. I been a fan for 20 years now. They always have lacked shooting. Dillon at least has awesome defense. Remember when we drafted Baldwin and people said the next Westbrook. Kid looks good but let's see.
I like his shooting...But THT is a better prospect. Similar skillset but younger, longer and maybe stronger....only makes sense if they're trading THT.
