Love these guys performing together it’s awesome but I actually prefer when they sing this song separately, when Jimmy sings it with his band Cold Chisel and when John does it a solo performance. Thanks for the reactions bro keep them coming

G'day George. I agree, Jimmy was off colour in this performance - like he didn't want to be there.

It's really a thing that jimmy admitted year later that it was one of his worst performance ??

Yeh it doesn’t get much better than this. This is a classic cold chisel song - Farnsey has done a couple of beautiful renditions for sure.. just epic seeing the two of them together. Also at 4:19 when you said did you hear that- that was when Jimmy started singing out the back- you could hear him before he came on stage!

John Farnham was brief member of Australian band Little River Band ( LRB ) they covered When The War Is Over 1986 when the songs creator drummer Steve Prestwich joined LRB after Cold Chisel broke up 1984 . When The War Is Over originally Cold Chisel in 1982 song with Jimmy Barnes sharing the vocals with guitarist Ian Moss .
Steve Prestwich straight out one successful band into once was successful band but still heavily touring the USA , Steve Prestwich didn’t really had any new music to share with the band so LRB started jamming to When The War Is Over on their 1985 tour of USA to promote their Playing To Win album. All the band members loved the harmonies in the song LRB recorded it for their underrated album No Reins which ended up being John Farnham and Steve Prestwich last album with LRB in 1986 .
John Farnham re-launched he’s solo career that same year with massive successful Whispering Jack album that featured You’re The Voice . LRB recording label EMI Capital released When The War Is Over as single to capitalise on John’s solo success. When The War Is Over sadly failed to chart. But John loved the song so much he re-recorded it for B side to mega hit single Age Of Reason that version even made as a bonus track on the hit album Age Of Reason CD . To this day When The War Is Over with Playing To Win are only 2 songs John is willing to sing for his LRB days .

Hi. A bit of Australian music context. Barnsey & Farnsey had their own very successful solo careers & bands with huge hits. Jimmy Barnes is the lead singer of the famous band 'Cold Chisel' and John Farnham had his Farnham band also with record breaking albums. They are still great mates (friends) x L.
