If there is one thing I love about this band is they understand moderation. It's okay to be heavy, then it's okay to be this. This is what more bands need. It shouldn't be about being blisteringly heavy on every track. Sometimes you need to break it down, not just once but multiple times on a record to keep it from being boring.

Well, The Contortionist NOW. I know what you're saying tho...having a song like "Primordial Sound" on the album.
But they're a more extreme case because they flip a switch in the middle of a song...like "Integration" for example where the entire first half of the song is kind of chill and then balls out heavy in the second half.
They never get to the point where they sound as chill and mellow as this song tho.
i like the direction The Contortionist is going in, sure i miss the death metal elements and heavy songs but...theres plenty of other bands out there to listen to for that sound. Theres to much talent in The Contortionist to be wasted blast beating their brains out.

I don't follow this band closely, but this song is really touching. I'm a fan of Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Opeth etc and this really appeals to me!
You might like "White Month Black Butterfly" if that's the case. Same vocalist and style of music as this song, but with a different line up and additional female vocalist. Skyharbor is usually a lot heavier than this.

What an amazing song, the effects and the vocals, specially in the chorus, simply brilliant!
I'm not sure what this song is about. But my interpretation is someone with PTSD. And how they want to keep something pleasant in their mind, when they have nothing but disaster in their mind. I suffer from such a horrendous thing. And I find solace in this song. Finding someone who will be your solid object when everything is flying about. My mind is in disarray. I can't sleep without nightmares. I can't sleep without thinking that the person who abused me is the person I need in my life... the person I miss. I love this song. Because it makes me realize that everything is okay. It's okay. I'm not alone.

They were already pretty similar, I'd say Tesseract is a little heavier especially in their first album. They do have the same vocalist.
