    18:00 was such a relief for me cuz that’s exactly how I write dissonant-ish ambient stuff. “I have no idea what those chords are or if they work together harmonically in a progression but they sound cool to me so” 😂

    Bea's on top of the wickedly sick technique game IMO. He's got such a grasp on a wide range of genres from classic virtuoso licks from the late 80's early 90's straight through Tool's 10,000 days into modern Djentemen thump. Absolutely brilliant.

    I like how this entire masterclass could but summed up as "idk man, sometimes I do some stuff and it sounds pretty sick, so I just do that, and then sometimes, when I do stuff that isn't sick, I do something else"

    As a guitarist, I focus on what other guitar players do on the fretboard. Simply because it’s a great learning experience and it may inspire new ideas.
    That’s why this video is a delight to watch, when the camera is purely focused on the fretboard. Thank you.

    First time hearing "in the face of the nameless" and it was like your first time driving a long trip and on your way back it feels waaay shorter... the first listen was surreal and seemed like 5 minutes but going back and watching him play the song goes by so fast and it's frustrating since it's still surreal but I can't get lost in how long that first time felt 😂😂

    your honesty about limited theory knowledge just proves that...you don't need to know all the theory stuff to be an ace player...in fact it might be better not to know and just use your ear and creativeness .....! you come across as a great guy ....heres to you Rebea !

    nice guy and great player, im a little confused: in one part he says that he doesn't know what chord he is playing, or what progression it is, it only sounds good so he plays it, but later he says that for him the important thing is to know the different types of chords maj7, dim, augmented, 13, add9 etc, Anyone understand better than me this approach?

    • @nssu82
      @nssu82 Před 2 lety +7

      I think he doesn't know immediately if it's an A, a C or a F, but he can surely feel the intervals. Different intervals have "colors" and even if you don't know what it is, your ears recognize the color. I hope that it will give you a beginning of the answer :)

    • @lannyfce4786
      @lannyfce4786 Před 2 lety

      Yes knowing shapes is incredibly helpful, so you might not be thinking from a pure theory standpoint of which chord goes best after another, but rather know 2-3 shapes that will be dissonant and build tension, or 2-3 shapes that resolve tension, etc.
