- I’ve ranked a lot of things in the past, but stadiums weren’t on that spectrum…until now. So here’s my rankings of every Big 12 football stadium from worst to best, and as an added twist, this will included the four expansion teams as well. Enjoy!!!
Good list and you were honest about KU's .I'm a KSU fan and would put BSFS about where you did .Baylors I'd put a little higher just because it's so new and shiny and looks cool AF .
I visited BYU a few years ago. Absolutely amazing scenery and crowd. Top 3!!!
You are out of your mind if you think Lavell Edwards Stadium attendance is going to shrink after expansion.
Agreed, that comment made zero sense.
Stupid comment by the dude who made this video. Why would attendance decrease. Lol
That’s the come t that lost credibility. Have you seen the way BYU fans have been acting since being invited into the BIGXII?
For real
@@bucasas02 So they can’t be excited?
LES (BYU) should be Top 5. Mountain Scenery, crowd electricity, crowd capacity.
Attendance numbers will increase joining Big12
I love BYU’s Stadium definitely one of my favorite stadiums in the country as you said with the mountains and the electricity
I am a huge byu fan and we always get season tickets and it is so eletric, it is so loud and then when the opposing team is trying to get the play in we somehow get louder, definitly one of the under ratted stadiums
I love the environment if LES.. I just can’t stand when stadiums are broken up the am way it was designed. I like the continuous bowl design that is dug into the ground.. more like KSTATE.
As someone who’s been to games at both Cincinnati and BYU; BYU stadium is WAY better, more electric and amazing view mountain side
Cincinnati is for sure better middle of campus the wriggly field of college footbsll
Ehhhh better view? Absolutely. More electric? Debatable
@@goatburrow7798 You need to go watch the BYU v ASU game. When the home crowd racks up 7 false starts against the visiting O, it doesn't get better than that.
@@geneslater754 even so, it’s not “way better”as described. Go look up the Houston game last year.
I was at the BYU game at UC and that game would not be a good measure of “electric.”
Nippert sits smack dab in the middle of campus, a feature that can’t be beaten by any other stadium in the b12. Loads of character - a great place to watch football
Mountaineer Field in the Bottom 5 of the Conference is beyond laughable. As a fan I respectfully cannot agree with that not that it matters!
I am a Coog fan, but I don't know how you put Baylor so low. Capacity doesn't equal atmosphere. Baylor has a beautiful stadium with a great atmosphere.
their fans barely show up for games even tho they are a top 10 team.
Wow! I take my hat off to you for being fair and honest. I wasn't expecting that when I opened the program and saw that you are a Jayhawk. My recommendation is best to get an updated o review of Snyder Stadium with the latest south end addition. Thanks from a K-STATER!
BYU vs Baylor at BYU sold out this year with nearly 63.5k attendees. Ranked 1st in nation in most crowd energy/participation that week.
I think it will depend on how BYU does in the new conference, but there’s no doubt that BYU fans will keep showing up.
You can’t give BYU number 7 when a regular season game in 2022 beat Oklahoma states record by 3.5k.
Both BYU and Baylor stadiums should move up a few slots.
BYU gotta be higher for the surrounding scenery. That alone is worth 3-4 more spots.
BYU should be in top 5!
As much as I dislike BYU, Provo is a stunning location.
Great job, I like your description of each stadium.
Started the video not thinking I was gonna agree with you and you changed my mind, great video!!
Might have a WVU bias but Morgantown has one of the best and rowdy atmospheres in the country let alone conference. Especially when WVU is actually good
As an OU fan I've been to 2 OU-WVU games in Morgantown. What a blast!!!! My favorite atmosphere ever. Both were night games and the tailgating was awesone!!!!
@@theodoreruff2946 Who can forget that OU 50 WVU 49 game in Morgantown a few years ago?
UCF has increased average attendance by over 8,000 in the past 10 years. It sold out more games in the last 5 years than it did in the first 10 combined. “Declining attendance”
Right?? Once UCF is in the Big 12, there's little to no doubt in my mind that every home game in the bounce house will be sold out as well.
Wow you went from 100 people to 200
@@elvangulley3210 is this is a joke? Try a little harder. Lol.
He means declining capacity. That is due to more premium seating added in the Cabana and Stadium Club. I'm not sure why that would be seen as a negative.
@@119Agent no he Said “has seen its attendance decline” re watch it.
Hey man, nice list. I am from FL so really no clue about this. I would say that how much attendance fluctuates should maybe be on a list of best fanbases not best stadiums but maybe I am over thinking. Some of the new stadiums, like Baylor and Houston, should have been ranked higher IMO.
Ok pardner. I cannot accept your placement of LES (BYU). If you want football. Attend a BYU vs Utah game. This house is rocking hours before and after. And fans around the globe. You will see cougar blue at every stadium they visit. And Texas will never forget. Taysom still is running in their worst dreams. And Notre Dame that's why the game they owe BYU is finally being played but not in Provo. It's in Vegas. You don't have to be a genius to figure out why. That house that Lavelle built rocks.
Texas DKR end zone renovation is a must see and the environment is amazing this year.
I cannot argue the list. The only stadium of those that I have ever been to is Mountaineer Field. If I could change anything about that stadium (other than switching over to grass), I would paint every the sections "Old Gold" and blue instead of keeping that drab grey.
I can tell you haven't been to LES (BYU) stadium. It's starting to age a little but the scenery and atmosphere during games is crazy good. They are definitely top 5 even with UT and Okie. But it's your channel. When KU comes to LES soon let's hear an update. Look forward to hosting you guys.
Lol LES??? Did you copy that from RES (Rice Eccles Stadium) ha ha ha always count on a BYU fan to say some silly crap.
LES goes by LaVell Edward’s Stadium. LaVell Edward is one of most successful head coaches during his prime time. Another thing, this current stadium was expanded in 1981.
@@Huey2ie at least our stadium is named after a legendary coach. Ktwit will be the new nickname for your garbage stadium. Enjoy the MWC puke fan.

Great video man.
WVU has had outstanding attendance considering the underachievement in recent years !
Dude had Iowa St. ranked higher even though the stadiums are the exact same and Iowa St. has been relevant for 2 minutes and WVU has sold out Mountaineer Field since the 80’s. Lost me there.
@@andrewalden8364 That's because Iowa State has learned to live with losing. It is new to the Mountaineers, they are still figuring it out.
Great video WVU higher great atmosphere rowdy fans , I could be biased , good job .👍
When WVU hosted LSU a few years ago on College GameDay, the game was at night with a crowd of over 60,000 Les Miles said he felt he was playing an away game in an SEC-environment. The largest crowd at Mountaineer Field was 70,000 (10k over capacity) when WVU hosted (and beat) the Miami 'Canes 17-13 in 1993.
Was a solid video. As a wildcat fan I would have to honestly say jack trice and Baylor should be a bit higher. Also, you made this video in 2022. Were you not aware that Bill Snyder Family Stadium renovated their south end zone? It has a capacity of about 52,000 now with all the renovations.
I thought they renovated the place a few times. I just looked of the Wikipedia page. Thanks for that but of information.
Jack trice is a turd. It’s a high school football stadium.
Baylors is a dump
A very odd list. These rankings seem impacted by current attendance? Trying to figure out how Baylor's ranked so low.
Cause it looks like a toilet bowl
It would be even lower if they still were playing at Floyd Casey aka Floyd's crappy stadium.
Atmosphere is dead, capacity at kansas level, student section never full, can never fill the tiny stadium…
It’s a dump that’s why
@@nathanwilliams8974 what are you on? lmao
I’ve been to many kstate football games and I can say I’ve felt that stadium shake multiple times throughout the years. When auburn played kstate in like 2016 or something like that Gus Malzone said it was louder than any stadium he’s played at in the SEC
Gus says a lot of thing that are wrong
@@elvangulley3210 they had like 3 false starts on their first drive alone. It gets pretty loud in that stadium especially when they are good. It also depends on how the stadium is designed too

Texas tech should be going up now that the stadium got a new south end zone coming soon

As an OU fan, I actually liked KUs stadium. I went to a game there last year and thought the campus and stadium we’re actually really cool.
You were shitting your pants during that game weren't you?
Was it that the entire crowd was OU fans, what made it so great?
WVU attendance was down when joining big 12 as it lost a lot of big east fans and fan appoinents. BYU should see an increase you would think joining the big 12, not as much a geography change and a huge upgrade conference
Wow a jayhawk who wasnt biased against bill snyder family stadium. Good work man

That is a big part about the stadium tho
Nah if it was about atmosphere WVU would be top 2

Good list. Kansas Memorial is where it needs to be. Texas and Oklahoma are definitely top 2. I've been to multiple games at both and there are no bad seats at Gaylord Family Stadium in Norman.
You’re right about OU. I’ve sat in both upper decks, both sidelines, and both end zones. There’s not a bad seat in the house. I like OSU’s stadium too. The only other big 12 stadium I ever went to was Texas A&M, back when they were still in the league. Now THAT’S a great atmosphere!
Every fan loves their own stadium (maybe except KU?). That gives college football such an awesome atmosphere. I have limited experience in attending NFL games but almost all of those have the same "feel" to me. Each and every college game I've been to had a completely different feel. I can't wait to attend all the new big 12 schools when they host my cats. But of course, The Bill is the best stadium in college football, hands down 😉.
Really surprised you put BSFS as high as you did (I presume you’re a KU fan). Respect for the objectivity!
Even though I am a BYU fan boy, in all honesty LES is def higher. The environment is unmatched for a stadium of it's size in big games. Attendance has fluctuated in the past but has been pretty close to sellouts every game that past sesason. Plus, the mountains in the background give it that scenery too
Fluctuating attendance makes no sense in rankings.
I'd say that's an accurate list. I like how you didn't let the size of the stadium affect your opinion. As you mentioned that attendance numbers have been dropping, schools are focusing on adding premium seating and amenities rather than just adding a new section when it comes to stadium expansions. Cincinnati is a good example. They may have the smallest but it is an electrifying atmosphere along with their top notch facilities. The fact their stadium is literally in the middle of campus is also convenient.
Lol the entire list is amateur hour I would be embarrassed if my team had to call those dumps home well most sec teams would

Pukes rarely fill their seats since they upgraded their stadium and lowered capacity!!!
There's nothing else to do there 🤣
Amon G has been renovated. It's cool.
The Palace on the Prairie in Norman actually seats a little over 86,000 after some fairly recent renovations.
So, how do you rank the atmosphere for college football?
I know it's just used for one game but, the Cotton Bowl for the Red River game should be somewhere on this list as well.
I think you must be ranking game atmosphere in recent years of school and not the stadiums. You’re putting too much emphasis on capacity and attendance numbers, which really don’t have much to do with the quality of the stadium. And some of the “older” stadiums have been completely rebuilt, while others only expanded, so that shouldn’t be a factor either. Where would the Cotton Bowl rank as a stadium? Its huge and a dump. McLane is probably the best STADIUM in the conference. And I’m a Texas Tech alum. Really the only thing I can agree with you on is that KU is at the bottom, as a stadium and the atmosphere.
Confused as to why McLane Stadium ranks so low on your list. Is this based solely on atmosphere? Baylor had a 99.1% capacity attendance in 2021, which was actually only the 5th highest attendance since the stadium opened in 2014. On top of that, only Michigan, Utah, Penn State, A&M, Georgia, and Cinci had higher capacity attendance percentage among P5 programs.
If your ranking is based on both atmosphere and stadium structure/visual design, McLane Stadium should rank much higher. It's considered by many to be one of the most beautiful/scenic views for a football game in the Big 12, as well as the country. I've been to other stadiums for games and understand that it's not at the top, but it's pretty clearly a better venue and atmosphere than places like Houston. BYU is also way too low on this list IMO
Can't say it's the most beautiful/scenic views in the Big12, and that's coming from a die-hard middle Tennessee Bear who saw them lose nearly every game every year at Floyd Casey when I attended. However, there aren't many other stadiums I can't think of (in the country) where you can actually go "sailgating" in the river right next door; and it touts one of the best video boards and modern facilities of all collegiate stadiums nationwide (has this guy every seen pictures of the locker rooms and VIP suites, just to start). I totally agree that atmosphere and tradition plays an important role in defining a stadium, but it probably shouldn't be weighed as heavily in this kind of review. Regardless, with the Bears' overall success in the past ten years, McClane is often the house setting the traditions each fall.
As a OU fan I think Mclane should’ve been top 3, great venue, great atmosphere and it’s in nice location
BYU number 7! Top 3
I am going to Utah this weekend and will be doing videos of Utah's stadium, and then BYU's stadium, and then going to the BYU vs Wyoming game. Look for Cowboy Country, I want to give Big 12 conference fans an idea of what BYU's stadium will be like in person. It should be posted by next Sunday night.
OU Stadium = "Hey, let's build a brick wall right on the sidelines!"
It is extremely snug.
Nothing compared to OK State’s though! Out routes, corner routes… good luck not dying. Also, one of the only schools in the nation to boast an East-West stadium orientation. That way, one team always looks into the sun during any day game.
You might want to update this. Those are 2019 pics of DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, and do not incude the $300 million improvements, which included enclosing the South End Zone. Capacity is north of 102,000 now.
Kind or keeps highlighting that more money won't change things vs those later Big 12 years where they also had the most money in the sport.
@@caseyhayes4590 DKR-Memorial, now that it is closed in, is possibly the finest collegiate stadium in the country. The one thing that will improve it is natural grass, and that will happen inside of 5 years. Go back to Hicksville with the rest of the Big 12, racing to Group of 5 status.
@@davidhuffman145 I'm from Los Angeles so I'm not sure why you think I'm a hick. I'm sure everything about Texas facilities is the greatest in college sports history because they've already been making the most $. That was my point. Enjoy getting skull ****ed by Kansas and Iowa State for a third consecutive season.
ISU/WVU were nearly identical by same architects before their expansions. I'm pretty sure ISU is either #1 or #2 for attendance in new Big 12 so that alone probably boosts it quite a bit.
All the emphasis on "fluctuating attendance" makes this more of a ranking the fan base kind of deal than a ranking of the actual stadiums.
Question: how many of those stadiums have you actually visited?
Baylor McLane Stadium Should Be Higher On Your List Also Why Is Texas And Oklahoma On Your List Because They Are Fixing To Leave The Conference
Great list. I’ve been to most and the list is pretty close to my rankings. Texas is big but Oklahoma is nicer and less corporate feeling. Prior to Boone-Pickens money, Oklahoma State would be below last but it is a nice facility. I hate for Oklahoma and Texas to leave. The conference should’ve expanded and brought the Cali schools that are headed to the Big. Bowlsby had to be the worst and least visionary conference commissioner… ever.
You didn’t mention UCF’s stadium expansion/upgrades they announced recently.
A lot of the conference is renovating actually. Tech just got a 200 million dollar donation for stadium renovations
I rate Texas’s stadium a horns down
Trying to figure what were your points on comparison? Age? Size? Attendance? I guess since you opened saying this was "your" list then I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If it is Attendance then that is not a reflection on the stadium itself but on the success of the team?
Decent list but big miss on BYU. Top 5 at least, attendance is only going up. You obviously don’t understand the culture and environment at LES. I feel like Baylor has a really nice stadium too, that was a pretty low ranking
Bad miss on WVU stadium. If you had ever been there, you would have ranked it much higher.
Uh duh? Why wouldnt you include the new expansion teams?
I’d like to know the criteria used for ranking. The rankings are well out of order, especially in the middle.
Its based off his perspective
You WVA fans who haven't been to Nippert since the Big East days will be shocked. Nippert is a gem.
It would be nice to identify the opponents of those gate records. You give some, but not all.
I RARELY advocate for new stadiums because new and shiny does NOT necessarily mean better. But KU's stadium either needs MASSIVE renovations or it just needs to be replaced entirely. It looks like a glorified high school stadium.
Baylor's stadium is the most gorgeous hands down. By the river, modern, with a great scenic atmosphere.
And it holds, what, 40,000 to 50,000…?
I’m a hardcore rock chalk Jayhawk Kansas fan and I love my big 12 conference McLane Stadium only has 45,140 seats but who won the big 12 championship game in Dallas last year and who ruined OUs perfect season and stormed the field after the game?? Stadium size doesn’t matter if your team is legit and consistent the bears are 36-16 in that new stadium
@@apache9549 That’s a winning percentage of 0.692…in what, 7 seasons? 8? OU has a home winning percentage of 0.812. In 98 seasons. Heck, OU is 3-1 in McLame “stadium”.
@@soonerborn7603 Baylor is a private school that has a fraction of the alumni of the big public schools in the conference... It would be dumb for Baylor to have a big capacity stadium. Since this video posted...CU is the easily the worst P5 football team, AZU has fired H.E. their head coach, Utah has been a disappointment up to this point & Arizona just came off an 18 game losing streak last season. These teams don't add much value to Big 12.
This is one weird ass ranking. You even show photos of stadiums before renovations.
UCF stadium has always been and will always be known as the bounce house.
I love college football! But I do have a question to all of the BYU alumni and faithful. Why don’t they fill in the corners in Lavelle Edwards Stadium?!?!?
To be fair, the original stadium was built a solid 50+ years ago and then had an expansion about 30 years ago. They honestly just need to build a new stadium from the ground up but considering they just did big improvements, I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.
For one thing I’m not sure there would be the bodies to fill it up if they did. It’s already the 3rd biggest in the big 12 if I followed the math. We’ll see. People are crazy excited about the big 12, maybe that’ll justify another addition!
1:21 Kansas Jayhawk Memorial - NO ATMOSPHERE
2:06 TCU - 92 years old, not visited as much
2:48 UCF - 44,206 capacity
3:33 McClaine Stadium - mid
4:14 Houston Cougars - solid
4:57 West Virginia - nice
5:42 The Jack - cooler because they play well
6:27 BYU - Rocky enviornment
7:14 Cincinnati - swagger
7:54 Texas Tech
Very poor ranking.
I am not quite sure what the list was ranking? Size of stadium? Atmosphere? It did not seem to be ranking the actual stadiums. I would put Baylor's stadium way higher if you were to rank stadiums. I have never been to OU's stadium since we like to blow them out in Dallas. ;) I would put DKR first, but I am a Horn fan.
I liked the video. Only thing I would have considered, maybe you did, if including the expansion teams then exclude TX and OU from the list.
Just subtract 2 from your current ranking, and there you have it
@WHAT THE HELL lol it’s hard math for some 🤪
Have you been to everyone of these stadiums? Curious because I’ve heard Baylor’s stadium is amazing
Their stadium is bright and shiny since it's new, but it's small and nothing really stands out about it other than being next to the water
What does Rock chalk mean?
And what exactly is a jayhawk
Nothing. In the 1800's they used the yell Rah Rah Jayhawk. But in the state of Kansas there is a particular type of limestone that is called Chalk Rock. So they kind of just replaced rah rah chalk rock but it didn't rhyme so they flipped the words chalk rock to Rock Chalk. Even though it isn't just two interchangeable words it's the name of a type of Rock mined in the state. But who cares about miss identifying an actual thing, it doesn't rhyme. 🤣
As for a Jayhawk, well.... in the 1950's the country was in a very tumultuous state with the Republicans trying to end Slavery by creating more new states that were not slave states and would hopefully use the new states voting powers as a way to outnumber the slave states and pass legislation to make slavery illegal in the United States.
Between 1854 and 1861 there was a conflict called bleeding Kansas. The pro slavery Missouri and free state Republicans in the Nebraska territory and elsewhere led by abolitionist John Brown as well as the state of Kansas itself fought brutal gorrilla warfare over wether Kansas was going to be a free state or a slave state. Eventually The free staters won, but during the conflict both sides called each other names and threw stones and other debris at each other. One of the names that was used by the pro slavery Kansas citizens called the abolitionists and free state supporters names meant to insult them. One of the most common and well known names they called the free state supporters was Jayhawk.. That was what the pro slavery Kansas settlers would call the abolitionists as a way to describe a free stater. As a Jayhawk. How or why they decided to use that as their symbol is beyond me.
Jayhawks are a mythical bird or something...Might be an old story with em in it or something
Love the video! Two quick thought. Jack Trice is too low. I have been there. That place absolutely rocks for big games. I am glad you put Texas at 2. They have potential to be 1 but their Fairweather attendance hurts them.

The new UT expansion was $175 Million

Pretty fair
Your photos of Texas are missing an entire expansion
It’s obvious you haven’t been to many of these. The amenities at many of them are awful. McLane at 11 is a joke.
Houston should be lower I think. Not because it is actually worse than any teams below it in any physical way, but because it was so expensive and had the advantages of modern stadium design and construction and that is what they came up with.
It was built to be easily expandable. The old Robinson stadium couldn't be expanded
@@bryfunkenstein That's not an excuse at all. Other than a couple newer stadiums for a handful of teams that are built all at once, like NFL stadiums are, every stadium in college was built to be expanded. Some look like a Lego set built by a bunch of people who were unable to see what each other was doing. Which is unfortunate because they could. Quite easily. This stadium doesn't look badly designed because it was built to be expanded, it looks badly designed because it was badly designed.
