    I really like this chuck. The quality is amazing. I knurled it and chamfered the tommy bar holes. Some users have lapped theirs and achieved incredibly low runout.

    Very good video, Sherline products are of the highest quality.
    Can you make a few showing the rotary table in use?

      Thanks for the video suggestion. We have added the rotary table concept to our video production list.

    Hi, I would like to know if there is any pneumatic jaw for sherline lathe

  • @verhoevc
    @verhoevc Před 3 lety

    I picked up a late 70s lathe that sat for god knows how long. Even with removing the retainer clip the back won't pop off. Any advice?

    • @SherlineProducts
      @SherlineProducts  Před 3 lety

      First off, are you referring to a Sherline lathe and chuck? If so, did you try the tip at about the 12:15 mark of the video that says to lightly tap the chuck on a piece of wood to help release the bottom scroll from the top body?
      If that still doesn't work, contact marketing@sherline.com, and I will pass your question onto one of our technicians.

    Can I install a chuck that's larger than the 3.1 inch? I want to secure a piece of metal that's over 4 inches in diameter with the jaws in the reverse position.

    • @SherlineProducts
      @SherlineProducts  Před rokem +1

      The 3.1" diameter chuck is the largest chuck that will fit on our standard machine that will allow clearance over the crosslide. If you can find a larger chuck that has a 3/4-16 mounting thread, that may work as long as you add our headstock riser block and our tailstock riser block to increase the centerline height above the crosslide.
      The other option is to make a mounting plate for a larger 3-jaw chuck that has a 3/4-16 mounting thread. Then add the two riser blocks (headstock and tailstock) as well.

    In order to put JAWs into the reverse position the chuck needs to be removed from the spindle. How do you do this?

    • @SherlineProducts
      @SherlineProducts  Před 5 lety

      The chuck should just screw off the spindle. It is a right-handed thread. If your chuck is on too tight, try using your Tommy bars to loosen it. It that doesn't work your chuck may be rusted onto the spindle. If that is the case, you will need to send back to us so we can remove it for you.

      @@SherlineProducts I tried to use Tommy bars from the very beginning. I was not strong enough to to loosen the thread. I was afraid to break "something".. Today, 4/20.19 I tried one more time. This time It worked. The thread is (was) not rusted. I am back in business. Thanks for the prompt reply.

      @@1967DS21 I'm glad to hear that you were able to finally get your chuck off of the headstock and that it is not rusted. Good luck with your future projects.

      @benjaminbarrera214 it's the camera angles not the screen size. Quit acting dumb. For a new person this video was filmed like shit. I just watched another video when they actually filmed the parts they talked about where it could be seen instead of 5 feet away. Made perfect sense after that. If your watching this video then you are new to lathe chucks so why not a close up of the parts inside the chuck? Exactly. Shit video.
