  • Are you as indecisive as me? I hope not because I am depending on you to help me make this decision! Which dress should I make for my son's wedding? I go through the pros and cons of both dresses in this video and show pictures of me in both. Be sure to tell me what you think in the comments!

The dress from Simplicity by a country mile.

I vote for the simplicity dress too. I like the fuller sleeves and the better fit. Also, it makes sense to be able to get it off and on easily without a zipper.

Make the MOB dress with Simplicity pattern, incorporate the waist ties and pockets from the other pattern. You'll look beautiful on wedding day.

I like the Simplicity dress better on you (neckline, sleeves, fit of bodice, skirt) and feel that you gave the answer in your presentation (happier comments). Super positive to not put in a zipper. Easier and more comfortable to wear with the pullover design. More importantly, no risk of a wardrobe malfunction with a zipper that breaks! Is your pink linen fabric as light as your pink, flowery fabric? Linen can be so comfortable. Be careful when cutting out the pattern to be certain to not have the motifs at the side seams in the skirt so that you don't have to match the motif patterns. (Congratulations to Casey!)

The Simplicity dress hands down. You look awesome in that dress. The fit is just right.

I think the Simplicity dress is much more flattering on you.

The Simplicity dress is a better design and fit and looks lovely on you--you look very confident wearing it. The design and fit though, are just as important as the fabric choice. For the best possible outcome make sure your chosen linen is a recommended type for the pattern. Good luck with your sewing and congratulations on the upcoming marriage of your son.

Yes. I agree. So the Simplicity pattern is meant for my structured fabrics like cotton and linen, I just chose a more drapey fabric because I wanted a more romantic/boho look. But! I am not convinced I will like it in linen!

I like the 2nd practice dress. It fits better.

I prefer the simplicity dress but my only concern would be that the pink fabric might not drape enough. I don’t think you can really go wrong with either pattern.

Hello Diana! I love the Simplicity pattern too. I just hope the linen isn't too heavy to get the fluttering look you like.

My concern is the flutter sleeve.. it is my experience that the linen will not be as floaty as the fabric perhaps that you used for the flutter sleeve. I love both dresses on you. You could make a mock dress or rather a mock top using a similar weight linen that you can buy locally?make it in the flutter sleeve and see if that works?

Both dresses are beautiful but you sounded happier when you talked about the Simplicity dress. You’ve already taken care of the fit adjustments and don’t have closures to mess with. Personally I wouldn’t put stuff in my pockets on a day like a wedding but like you said, you can add them if you think you’ll need them.

Would it be possible to use the skirt from the Upton dress with the bodice of the Simplicity dress? Otherwise, the simplicity dress really looks like it should be in a floatier fabric.I think the fabric lends itself more to the Upton, particularly in the skirt..

They are both very nice, without borrowing from one pattern to modify another pattern....i guess i would go with the simplicity, but i could be swayed 😁.
But this would be a good time to start, grab the bull by the horns and make the decision... you'll be beautiful, everyone will be happy......you won't go wrong. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hi Diane. Why don't you wear the pink Simplicity dress that you already made? You could add pockets to it. The linen isn't going to drape like the pink fabric. Save it for something structured. The Upton doesn't fit as well as the Simplicity dress IMHO.

Simplicity…. You don’t want to put zipper in the embroidery… for your threads pull them to the back with needle and tie them if you can
