I saw Steeleye Span perform this song back in the 1970’s and they are still as brilliant now as they were then. Maddy’s voice is phenomenal!
Maddy is so utterly perfect for Steeleye. Vocally and her persona is just off the scale incredible
Amen re your comment about Maddy's persona. No one ever has as much fun on stage. Crystal clear soprano and a character and presence to match it.
I must say I'm most impressed by this performance.
The song was originally on the HAT album (1975) & I recall seeing them on that tour at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester.
Violinist Violetta plays well & looks enthusiastic - she reminds me of Maddy from way back when.
This whole new Steeleye Span is fantastic.
Top Band
😍 musicianship. That drummer is AMAZING!
The best line up ever - fantastic
Went to see them a couple of months before lockdown. It was an amazing performance and sound. Madly Prior still loving every minute of it.
.....und ich auch so.
Lichtblick

Jugend (BJ 49).
I will never tire of that song and that was one of the finest performances ever!
Thank you!
Steeleye are so wonderful, I can remember seeing them play this years ago and their talent has not diminished.
Phenomenal! I love the way that Steeleye Span have a dozen or more versions of each song, depending on when the performance took place. I'm forever grateful to my parents for introducing me to them.
Wonderful... wonderful... I’ll remember the fantastic concert at Tilburg / The Netherlands. Please come back soon !
This song Black Jack Davey was on the b side of their hit The day we went to Bangor. We all loved it much more. And almost fifty years later I still remember every single word of the lyrics
Day trip to Bangor wasn't Steeleye (despite popular belief apparently). That was Fiddler's Dram. This was the B-side to All Around My Hat.
One of my absolute favorite Steeleye songs!!!!!!!!!!
....und das schon seit vielen
Jahrzehnten....

Just so synchronistic! Thanks
Brilliant as ever
I think I just died and went to heaven.
Wow, every lineup keeps delivering the goods. Brilliant!
Superb, das ist große große Kunst, von einer allerersten Güte.
Absolutely fantastic this 👏
AMAZING!
I don’t think that this line-up has ever given a bad performance. Liam G is a dream drummer: he handles the often-odd time signatures with ease and skill. Both violinists, Jessie and Violeta (here) are darned good: for my money, Violeta is easier soloing, but they both have sweet and accurate voices.
Seriously good players all.
You go maddie.
I wish that I could go back in time and ask for a date with the Beautiful violin player.
I think it is she singing the high part in the chorus cos Maddie's voice is not up there anymore.
Doomed to the purest fanaticism is the mind that hears Steeleye Span
Maddy's voice is as pure as ever. Where did 50 years go?
Tempus fugit. I know, but don't worry, it's all relative, keep yourself gainfully occupied and live a jolly life if possible. Best regards from Inverkeithing. Onward and upward! Best regards. 🙃
Je oller, desto besser.
So wie wir auch.
Indeed it did. Thanks Inverkeithing, always gainfully employed. Five grandchildren make sure of that. Nearest I got to you was RAF Buchan 1980 - 1983. What a band. Keep
Amazing!
the mandolin player is from "Bellowhead"
very good...........................
Love this but where's the classic violin middle section...?
Who's the new fiddle player? Mesmerising songs, I love it. Keep up the good work Steeleye. Best regards. 🙃
Violeta Vicci
Who is on drums? Excellent drummer
Liam genocky... the drummer they've had for the majority of their career
