Yeah I don’t ever promise my kids anything without stipulation and time line. Like my son wants a harp and I plan to buy him a harp but our financial situation is iffy as I am not working and in school full time and now home schooling him, we had already talked and planned to live on our savings and whatever money comes in from the business (not much). So slapping down for a harp really isn’t in the cards right now. And he tells me after I surprised him with $80 worth of Chinese tea and a his first traditional tea set (something he’s wanted for years). 😢 if he told me about the harp sooner I could have gotten him the harp instead lol. But if I make a bet with my kids or promise, I make do with it. He’s going to Japan when he graduates college all expenses paid for a month. If I have to work 100 hours a week for 6 weeks that will occur no matter the cost. I have three years to make that happen though lol.

About 1970, I was elementary school and daisy afghans were the rage. You wound yarn on a 2 sided peg loom and sewed around the center to fasten everything in place. Then crocheted around each flower to fasten them together. Mom needed 240 of them. She made two and got tired of it. I got a quarter a week allowance. She offered me a dime each. And made one to teach me. This was Thursday. Monday after breakfast I presented her with 237 daisies. She underestimated incentive. She figured it would keep me busy for the whole summer. Mom announced she was going to pay me less, but this was right after the spider in a mayonnaise jar incident, and she had made Dad pay up, so her made Mom pay up. (I saved $20 for Christmas shopping so good). I can so relate to this 8 year giving it her all. And good for you, Dad, for paying up.

And hey, shows she followed through, and so did the parent on their promise. And learning about mods for Minecraft can actually become rather complex the more she decides to dive into it, giving her computer and tech literacy and skills that are very useful in this day and age. Love that she forgot the number to beat though, and just went straight to 4 minutes. That's brutal, but wow.

So, here's some Minecraft advice for OP. First up, make extra sure to get the Java version of Minecraft, as the Minecraft on PC is just a port of the Bedrock version your daughter's been so frustrated with. Once that's taken care of, your next issue to deal with is picking a modding platform to manage your kid's Minecraft install. The first of two popular options is Curse Forge, the older of the two options, and has a lot more mods to offer and is supposed to route the proceeds of home page ads, but that's a promise they've been kind of falling short on. The most popular alternative is Modlinth, which claims to treat mod authors more fairly, but the UI was harder to use and there weren't as many mod packs, and it was hard to tell if individual mods depend on things added by others.

My dad said if I ever got an 11 he'd buy me and my brother 9 pizzas. I got a 10 on one test ( logical thinking, 10 is max in my country). Everyone in my class got bad grades so he offered to give them an aditional 1 point for a few questions.
Well I really liked that class and I figured I might as well do it instead of doing nothing, so I took the extra questions.
I nailed those too, so my teacher wrote a "+1" on the grade, so it looked like "10+1", and when he called my grade (teachers usually called the grades out loud), he sai "my_name ... eleven!", handed my paper and moved on. Whole class turned around and I could hear some people ask "Did he just say eleven?"😂. Proudest moment of my life, I felt like a total badass.
Well, that day dad picks us from school and I joke around, asking what would he buy us if me or my brother got an eleven. He upped the stakes, said "20 pizzas". I showed him the paper, said "pay up". My brother and I laughed like maniacs.
He didn't get 20 pizzas but we did eat good that day 😊. Great memories.

My dad made a bet with my little brothers in late July that if shot a bear, he would buy them an X-Box. Fast forward a couple months and he shot a bear. The first thing my brother said was “so can we get our X-Box now?”

never underestimate how stubborn kids can be. the longest plank I ever did was part of a warm up at the dojo i went to at the time, and the instructors made it a little contest to see who could hold it the longest
now at the time, I was generally paired with this one girl. she was cool, she was exactly a year older than me and we started around the same time. we were also probably the two with the most insane pain tolerance too, since our unofficial rule was that we would put on any locks until someone tapped out or actual injury was a risk. she never did get me to tap out of a shoulder dislocation, but that's another story
so anyway, the whole class starts doing the plank, ages range from about 6 to 15, I'm 10 and the other girl is 11. slowly people start to drop or their forms are no longer planks. it must've been a solid 5 minutes before they called it a tie, because me and the other girl were still planking, just out of sheer determination to win and we needed to do stretches to finish the warm up. I was vibrating like a washing machine by the end but no way in hell was I going to give up before I was physically unable to hold it any longer

Listen you may think you f up but that baby girl is going to be soo happy and honest learning a very valuable life lesson to work hard and you will get what you want it’s not that she will feel happy she will also gain your trust when you go through with it so honestly I don’t think you f up your just going to have a amazing time with your daughter I would also recommend getting it not pre-build cus if you don’t you can spend time with her building it and honestly she will look back on that with happiness so honestly you did a good job

reminds me of when my dad told me he'd buy me a Nintendo Switch Lite with whatever game I wanted if I did 1,000 jumping jacks. He spent his entire day off watching his child do 1,248 jumping jacks, before collapsing on the couch. That is how I got my first pokemon game, SWSH.
