Sheridan is always a Wednesday legend. What a team. David Pleat curb crawler culled that team 2 years too soon.
As a Sheffield United fan I have to say that Wednesday had a brilliant team when Sheridan played. He made the game look so easy. He would be worth a fortune in todayâs game. Top fella, top notch content boys.
Both Sheffield teams had quality players then.
I was a mascot on boxing day 1990 and had a photo with Sheridan. Im 38 now & still have the photo!! Absolute Legend.
Absolutely incredible at Oldham. The guy was literally a cripple and outshone every player on the pitch. You had to see it to believe it. The manâs vision was incredible. Great Oldham manager too. Iâd have him back any day as soon as the lunatic running the club has gone.
Wish came true right there.
Remember Sheridan returning to Hillsborough whilst playing for Oldham Athletic, his legs had gone by this time. All he did was stand in the centre circle and pinged the ball to every part of the pitch with wonderful pinpoint accuracy. When he left the pitch after being substituted, the whole ground, rose as one and gave him a standing ovation after witnessing a master at work.
Thank you for the brilliant memories Shezza.
When I was a teenager remember watching him for Leeds and he was a very good player indeed.
I remember going to Elland Road on Boxing Day 1988 (I was in the away end with Blackburn. God only knows why as I'm a Preston fan) & Leeds won 2-0 & John got sent off. The reception he got from the Leeds fans was amazing. There were thousands chanting either "Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny Sheridan" or There's only one John Sheridan". What a player he was & what a great lad. Brilliant interview everybody đ đ
Imagine if David Hirst was around in todayâs game with all the sports science. He would be a scary scary player.
SHEFF WED HAD a super team in the early 1990s ! 3 cup finals 3rd place in the PL! WHAT a team swfc was! CLASS FANS SWFC HAVE! Sheridan LEGEND AT SWFC
I'm a stockport fan, however Oldham are my second team due to going to school there. I watched a bit of Latics during Sheridan's 6 seasons it was so clear he was streets ahead of the others. Used to love watching him at that time.
Wonderful player for The Wednesday
Genius player was Shez. Worth 50 million in today's money. đđ»
AWESOME , PROPER LAD AND LEEDS LEGEND , ADORED TO THIS DAY
Best player that the under the cosh lads have interviewed?
Great interview, reyt player and top man
DinkâŠ
Fantastic interview this well done lads
Always thought he was a great player but always thought he was one miserable bastard.. how wrong could I be! What an absolute top listen this was! Brilliant podcast and Sheridan has just took over at Oldham AGAIN⊠I hope he keeps them up as Iâve changed my mind about him ! Top bloke đđŒ
Remember seeing him play for Leeds, top class.
That Ron Atkinson story had me in stitches đ€Ł he sounds a decent man tbf and fuck me he's looking well for 57
Brilliant episode once again. Thanks again Undr the Cosh
What a great lad and remember him in my younger. Top player and loved him to have played for City.
Another Fantastic interview đđŒ
What a great player this guy was...touch and passing was world class
Big baller
Great podcast
Irish legend
Legend
Good pod that lads, John seems a good chap.
Great footballer.
Very good Podcast . Well done all . Nice to see the real Shez.
Shez doesn't mince his words
Welcome back to Latics Shez!
Love the guy
- Loved him and stil does around Elland Road đđ Should have been more footage to see his all-round game. Coz' Shez8 had the lot as a player. I know the pod-concept - but would liked to hear more about games played.
Stopped listening ages ago due to the endless "did you have any good nights out" Qs. Listened to this one for Sheridan and see its still the same zzzz
@@niallglennon83 : Enjoyed it! Would have been good to have another hour - with football How it was to play under Billy Bremner etc etc. LUTV should make a documentary with Sheridan. Fans from them years would love it. đđ
Sheridan was an excellent player , played with and against some of the best, he must have had some fantastic football stories, he actually played in a World Cup Quarter Final , shame the guys only ever seem interested in are piss ups and Xmas do's đ
That was the life of a footballer back then âŠ
I felt there was a lot more to explore in this interview.
TOP PLAYER
Shez = Leg that simple, awesome guys
Very good player and he liked a pint or two back in the day
Love hearing from guys like John. Great to hear stories from when football was football and the game had characters. Modern day football is garbage in comparison. Yeah it looks slicker (better stadiums, nicer pitches etc) but itâs just full of so much bollocks. Players and clubs would rather be brands and raise their bloody social media followers vs concentrating on the game on the pitch.
Sheridan love a Guinness at halftime at Wednesday ...
im a lifelong blade. i remember him as a reyt player, could score and defend, a bargain in my opinion.
I tell you what, Paul McGrath didn't disappear against Italy.
He put Baggio and Signori in his back pocket
Had Baresi and Maldini queuing up to swap shirts with him.
Paul was worshipped in Ireland, still is loved dearly.
Would be in most Wednesdayites best 11 of all time...always refere to Sheridan when talking about players of today with his style of play. But none have the talent he had. Passing ability was top class.
Jon looks like Desperate Dan, in the intro.
Played in 2 World Cups & a Euros and they barely mention it
Played in 2 cup finals with Chris Waddle and barely mentioned it. But you only have so much time.
@@thebassconnection7226 it was 2 hours long
@@niallglennon83 think they try and get some stories from him...not particular games...he talks quite a bit about ireland.
@Niall Glennon Agree - takes 2 hours for them to mention to his Ireland days, surely a treasure trove of material there. 1st hour not as entertaining as the 2nd either imo but seems a class fella overall.
Are you all self isolating as start of podcast your on zoom
Is Steve Bruce dead yeat?
Does ya mum still gobble .... horrific comment and I'm Newcastle
ah probs only won cause of that letter
Loved this, loved Sheridan as a player but Shearer was miles better than Hirst
Between 90 - 92 most pundits would have rated Hirst as the guy to take over from Lineker. Shearer exploded in 1992 and just kept scoring from there. Ferguson had moved for Hirst multiple times in the early 90's as well before Shearer knocked him back. A brilliant forward but didn't live properly whereas Shearer was 100% focused on his game.
Ive zero time for this man, total disrespect to the LOI when he took on a job here. A pure mĂš fĂšiner.
Nice one
Bore off
Paul went to Israel
Correct
carlton palmer had a wonderful first touch..... shame it was on the women in the clubs
Great podcast
