    Sheridan is always a Wednesday legend. What a team. David Pleat curb crawler culled that team 2 years too soon.

    As a Sheffield United fan I have to say that Wednesday had a brilliant team when Sheridan played. He made the game look so easy. He would be worth a fortune in today’s game. Top fella, top notch content boys.

    Absolutely incredible at Oldham. The guy was literally a cripple and outshone every player on the pitch. You had to see it to believe it. The man’s vision was incredible. Great Oldham manager too. I’d have him back any day as soon as the lunatic running the club has gone.

    Remember Sheridan returning to Hillsborough whilst playing for Oldham Athletic, his legs had gone by this time. All he did was stand in the centre circle and pinged the ball to every part of the pitch with wonderful pinpoint accuracy. When he left the pitch after being substituted, the whole ground,rose as one and gave him a standing ovation after witnessing a master at work.
    Thank you for the brilliant memories Shezza.

    I remember going to Elland Road on Boxing Day 1988 (I was in the away end with Blackburn. God only knows why as I'm a Preston fan) & Leeds won 2-0 & John got sent off. The reception he got from the Leeds fans was amazing. There were thousands chanting either "Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny Sheridan" or There's only one John Sheridan". What a player he was & what a great lad. Brilliant interview everybody 👏 👏

    I'm a stockport fan, however Oldham are my second team due to going to school there. I watched a bit of Latics during Sheridan's 6 seasons it was so clear he was streets ahead of the others. Used to love watching him at that time.

    Love hearing from guys like John. Great to hear stories from when football was football and the game had characters. Modern day football is garbage in comparison. Yeah it looks slicker (better stadiums, nicer pitches etc) but it’s just full of so much bollocks. Players and clubs would rather be brands and raise their bloody social media followers vs concentrating on the game on the pitch.

      @del7538 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Between 90 - 92 most pundits would have rated Hirst as the guy to take over from Lineker. Shearer exploded in 1992 and just kept scoring from there. Ferguson had moved for Hirst multiple times in the early 90's as well before Shearer knocked him back. A brilliant forward but didn't live properly whereas Shearer was 100% focused on his game.
