5:30 the best part of Girl Worth Fighting For is the end. The upbeat, romanticized tomfoolery that just abruptly stops dead, and then there’s no musical numbers for the rest of the movie.
Yeah. A Girl Worth Fighting For ends when they find the girl worth fighting for: the little girl who was missing her doll.
Not only that, but I came here to specifically say that the exact montage you're talking about, and the end of it, caps off the very middle of the movie. So the first half is broken up with music, and a song stops dead part way through to make way for the most somber tone of the rest of the film.
Everytime James and Maso have a sick comedy riff it makes me so excited for the annual best of podcast where they compile all the best bits.
This show is such a fever dream every time and I love it

@@laurenbastin8849 She literally only posted on her Chinese social media the same exact post every Chinese star posted (including some from Hong Kong who clearly support Hong Kong but have careers that depend on mainland China). Clearly the government was forcing celebrities to make that post if they wanted to keep their access to the Chinese market. I doubt she personally feels that way, she lived most of her life in the US, but there are serious consequences to not playing the CCP's game if you want to be involved in them. And the fact that many Chinese stars did this but only she has received this backlash (plus the fact that many are ignoring the corporation that probably encouraged her to play China's game here) strikes me as rather sexist. With the exception of their reception in actual Hong Kong, I have not seen any male stars who made that same post receive the amount of cyber bullying she has.
It's pretty sad when people apparently know China is an oppressive state where you can be imprisoned for criticising the government, but they assume all public statements by Chinese celebrities in favor of the Chinese government must be their own sincere feelings.

Mulan '98 is my absolute favourite Disney film ever. The songs are incredible, I love the characters and the cast, Lea Salonga as Mulan's singing voice is stunning, it looks beautiful, has a great message... eugh, I could go on and on but instead I'm just gonna go and rewatch it for the millionth time. And yes, Jackie Chan's Make a Man Out of You is just the BEST!
