    Hello I have been watching on CZcams
    I love your work and all the tops you have made. I wonder is there any those pattern would work with cotton fabric. I had a lot of cotton med to light fabrics
    I know you work a lot of knit fabrics. We don’t have a fabric store close our town. Most is mennonites store or their home. So you see why I bought cotton fabric. I have been doing quilts. I’m taking a break from it. But would love to make couple of your top. I’m a plus size person 😬 thank you for showing all the tops you had made I’m really enjoy and new ways of tips

      Erin, hi! In all of the Instruction sheets available for Members on the first page there is a list of materials, and the fabric type is listed as well. Also in Members Extra video I usually go a little deeper on the fabric choice of the project.
      Tops that would work with cotton (some can be done with medium/light weight, some need lightweight fabric)-

    Your videos are great. Thank you! I reference them often on how to make changes to patterns I already have. I think you offer the right amount of explanation in a nice concise way. Much appreciated! 🙌 For my project today I don't have enough fabric to add sleeves for my tee so drop shoulder is perfect.

      I already have videos on both of them: how to make any top into a dress - apply the same principles to this drop shoulder top and a Breton top - shows you how to make a long sleeve version of a drop shoulder shirt. I encourage you to grab muslin fabric and experiment, you learn the best from your own experiences.

    Hi! Just discovered this channel and I love it! I'm really into 80s style and I know dropped shoulders were a big feature, so this is gonna be super helpful!
    Question, if you wanted to draft a set-in sleeve to go with this, would the process be the same as for the regular bodice/sleeve?

      Kathleen, juts go to my channel page (click on my channel name) and you will see that I have sorted all videos by topics, so that way you can see what interest you. I would start with knit bodice block - you will be able to use it as a base for so many garments in the future. :)

    Hi, I loved your videos, and learned a lot from you, I followed the blue linen top video,and made a pattern and a mock up, but my armhole is not very defined, and felt tight, so I thought I will try this one, but it is really confused me, from the point when you adjusted armhole, then the front and back is not the same length, do we just add some length at the buttom? If not And how do I line up the waist line in this pattern if they are already different length, I could not figure it out, please help me🤔

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  Před 5 měsíci

      Use the mock up you made for the blue linen top and adjust it first instead of trying other options. First identify where and why does it feel tight. Second - the armhole in a drop shoulder top isn't defined to begin with, because it is a drop shoulder design. Pput the mock up on yourself, use chalk or other marking tools and mark how much lower you need the armhole to be and any other adjustments. Transfer those adjustments onto a pattern paper. Then use the same mock up and alter one side with the adjustments. Put it back on and see which side you like better. Note: armhole length does not have to match, the back armhole is usually longer or vice versa depending on design/figure, you are not sewing your armhole together, you are sewing shoulder seams and side seams - those have to match.
