    This all now makes sense. I am definitely an under loader using RPE. I plan on using these tips on my next lifting session. I don't know why I never thought if the weight felt light it was ok to increase the load the next round to hit the RPE. Not sure what was going on in my brain.

    I have heard of RIR but never really understood what it meant, especially in relation to RPE like this. I loved this explanation! Definitely helpful for figuring out what to lift in the gym. Excited to try it out.

    As someone who constantly thought failure was the only way always, I can appreciate this SO much. 💕

    Thank you. I didn’t really learn anything new, but was just reminded to be patient. Especially when starting a new program with new exercises. Take the time to figure out the correct weight so that moving forward with the program I’m progressing properly and not overworking.

    Great explanation, thank you! I'm usually a lot more accurate with accessory RPE/RIR than with compound lifts, but tend to under shoot cause I'd rather not hurt myself 🙃😅.

    There's always been a shroud of mystery around RPE -- what is it, how do you calculate it, and how do you know you're doing it right. This video was helpful for me to learn the answers to those questions and break it down in a simple way. Thank you!

    A good recap! I probably have to pay more attention to compounds like DLs so that I’m not always going to 9/10. Other lifts I think I hit 8 pretty well using the techniques you described.

    • @doclyssfitness
      @doclyssfitness  Před rokem

      Yes! It can take more focus for compound lifts vs accessory lifts. You got this!

    I'm still confused! I'm 70 and want to improve my VO2 numbers. Just starting out with an exercise program and want to know if I can just use my heart rate to improve my VO2 max. And if yes what does it have to be at for me to show improvement? I will be biking and walking. Thanks.
