Could have added story telling, Lyrical Rap, Controversial Rap and Fast Rap. Please make a part 2
Appreciate the love🙏
@@NFRPodcast if u make a part 2 you should add: g funk, comedy rap, Houston slab music, crunk, reggaeton, Midwestern
Lol what these aren't even genres 💀
Yes they are genres
Yea and probably luxury rap if that’s a thing I’m talkin bout rappers like Rick Ross and Jay
i agree with biggie on gangsta rap but i would also say that ice cube deserves an honorable mention, dudes been rapping since 1985 and before, started the world most dangerous group, hat many top tier gangsta rap albums and is an icon, i think he would deserve that spot too
Lol what... Token is the greatest gangsta rapper
I think Ice Cube is crazy underrated man
Def
Mafioso rap = biggie
Gangster genre wise u right
I was leaning 50 but ice cube is a great answer
Just finished this episode. I think this is a genius topic. Definitely would love to see a part 2
Thank you Eddy King🫶🏼

Agree I gravitated towards Pop Smoke’s voice! Something bout him was special in the drill scene!
These guys prob dont know the uk cene. There are some amazing rappers.
@@tupla1122 uk ain’t relevant

I love the segments you guys come up with. It really makes you guys different from other hip hop yt creators. I’d be interested in seeing what you guys’ top 10 female rap albums of all time would be. That would be fun to watch
Thank you so much Alyssa! The top 10 female rappers episode is a great idea🙏

Bro said MF doom, Tyler, and childish Gambino were “experimental rap” lmaooo that’s alternative experimental is Danny brown, JPEGMAFIA, bladee, etc
@devin !!! wdym..he’s not
Not alternative, that’s abstract. Especially DOOM and Childish Gambino
they don't know what they're talking about for sure
yeah. those are experimental rap artists
@@Tomohasen tyler and childish I would say is alternative and DOOM is abstract
Travis is definitely my trap rap goat , rodeo is easily the best trap rap album

future has 3> than rodeo
Travis is barely trap. Do u know what trap means ? He’s more pop rap/psychedelic . He wasn’t from the trap and he never trapped
Travis is more psychedelic trap but W
Definitely wanna see a part 2
😎
Super fun video guys! Def want a part 2. Where would you fit Earl in the conversation tho?
Appreciate the love! Feel like Earl is more abstract hip hop so maybe in the alternative lane
Lupe will always be my conscious GOAT, but Tupac seems like the right answer for sure.
Both of those are wrong lol. Hopsin is clearly the greatest conscious rapper to ever walk this Earth
Nah fuck that Lupe far exceeds pac
People sleep on Lupe.
Most definitely. “Hurt Me Soul” is a top 5 conscious rap song.
@@vezon9436 You're trolling saying Hopsin 💀☠ ill Mind Series is great but plenty of Lupe's songs rap circles around Hopsin's entire catalog

COME WITH THE CREATIVE VIDEO IDEAS! I love it guys! Fantastic channel consistently.
Aye we appreciate you Mackenzie🤝 if you ever got suggestions let us know!
Having pop smoke above Chief keef for drill is just insane bruh. So many great albums Back from the dead 1&2, Almighty So, Bang part 1,2,&3 , finally rich, nobody, thot breaker, + more. Not to mention the leeks and unreleased comps. Plus all the influence. I love pop smoke too and mtw 1 & 2 are fire but there’s levels
Great picks! Guru from Gangstarr deserves a mention as a jazz rapper.
jazzmatazz is a classic fr
Seeing all these different sub genres is really a beautiful thing to look at, rap really is the modern day rock n roll
great video! I would love to see part 2 and rock rap within it! I just love these two genres and if combined it always sounds great
Thank you!
Jean Dawson gotta be my favorite rock rapper
i feel like kanye needs to be considered in experimental rappers GOATS. every album was different and had so many copycats
i mean i love yeezus but it was heavily inspired by underground industrial hip hop like death grips. But i get what you mean especially for 808s, lot of influence
Facts
Another rapper for horrorcore could be clipping.they are insanely talented and their production is super good
When it comes to Horrorcore, you can’t forget ‘Gravediggaz’. Their first project was such a gem 💎

You guys should do this again but for like different categories within rap instead of sub genres for example lyrically-eminem flow-biggie discography-kanye punchline-lil Wayne Etc
part 2: cloud rap, rock rap, uk rap, grime, alternative rap, melodic rap, club rap(50, flo, etc)

Love y’all guys content I was hoping for a Lyrical Category and was wondering y’all pick?
Mos Def, Nas, The Roots/ Tariq Trotter, Pharoh Monche, DOOM(I know he won experimental) but it’s doom so why not give him two dubs lol, Big L, K-Dot, wu tang come to mind

Funny that you guys just posted this, I just presented a speech for my public speaking course about the sub genres of rap music.

great vid as always
The pop smoke and chief keef convo wasn’t even close fam, chief keef is fucken ridiculous, his influence goes beyond anything smoke could do, he really didn’t have that same hunger as chief in my opinion. He had it man but bro not on the same level .
Facts bro
Facts they just on bro meet cause he died rip though
You cant tell me that he didnt have the same hunger, did you even listen to tracks like hawk em or scenario? That dude was ready to take over the scene before his death

Part 2 for sure
Idk about you guys but a song bracket would be nice rn, maybe even a young thug bracket or a discography ranking
Coming soon🙏
Pop rap - drake
Drill - pop smoke
Conscious - kendrick
Mumble rap - kodak
Experimental rap - carti
Gangsta rap - pac/biggie
Emo rap - xxx or peep
Horrorcore rap?tf is this lol - eminem i guess
Psychedelic rap - travis
L Carti and Peep is trash
My most relatable list 💯👍🏻
I disagree with Carti being the best experimental rapper and Pop smoke being the best drill rapper. I personally think that Kanye is the best experimental rapper and Jdot Breezy is the best drill rapper.
would love to see rage rap in part 2 if there is one
Great video, I'd argue Mumble rap isn't really a genre as much as kinda a backhanded term for trap though.
I see you but incomprehensible slurred delivery is a rapping style that reached its peak during the 2010
20:33 damn that fly was going at it
I'd break gangster rap up into two subgenres, as East Coast and West Coast have distinct stylistic differences. Look at Ice-T and NWA vs Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane for the 80s, or Doggystyle vs The Infamous in the 90s.
Daveed diggs from clipping should’ve taken the crown for horrorcore. His storytelling and lyrics are top tier and their songs feel like mini horror movies. He’s honestly one of the most underrated and creative rappers. Super creative flows too and he can rap insanely fast while being very understandable too. Listen to songs like the breach just to hear how insanely fast he raps.
Shoutout to the fly on the left of Ant at 20:34
‘Totally incomprehensible’ 🤣 I love it
I feel like you guys didn’t pick the “best” rapper for these categories, you just picked the rapper who best describes that genre
5 words I never thought I'd hear uttered in my life:
"Shoutout to Flo Rida and Pitbull"
😂😂
Imma be a rapper and be on this podcast as a guest one day
This is why I love Kanye... can't be pinned down to a specific category and he has his own sound
Lil Peeps lost tapes on soundcloud are godlike
The way I see things is beautiful
Mumble rap goes to uzi. Great discography, voice like no other, quotables. His style oozes in all of his music. Has to be him
“Great discography”
You literally described young thug >> uzi
Juice is definitely better than Uzi. No way it goes to Uzi or Carti
@@qaqtix6700 juice is emo rap not mumble
Bro I really want to have a conversation with y'all
have u guys ever listened to clipping? should have been mentioned in the horror core section.
Please have UK rap with part 2
How old is these guys
Mob deep/black star is a really good answer in the jazz rap conversation
Can you guys do a video about MF DOOM like discog ranking or somthing
underrated conscious rapper: Nipsey, so much of his music has amazing meanings, not to mention his affect on his community
You guys completely forgot to mention Guru in the “jazz rap” category!
Travis should of got a mention in trap
trap - future (just too many hits and the influence over the genre is undeniable and the consistency in putting out great albums and mixtapes at his rate is also unmatched in the genre for me, shoutout to thugger and jeezy as well)
pop rap - drake (there is almost no debating here)
drill - chief keef (i think pop smoke's discog is actually better but the influence of keef is undeniable as he excelled the drill scene into mainstream and influenced so many quality drill rappers including pop, shoutout to skepta as well)
conscious - lupe or kdot (probably the hardest genre to pin down the best rapper for as there are so many quality discogs throughout this genre but i narrowed it down to these two as kdot has arguably the 2nd best discog in hip hop history which consists of a lot of conscious rap but lupe's entire discog consists of conscious rap while also having an excellent array of projects, shoutout to tupac as well)
mumble - carti (could fall into experimental or psychedelic rap but definitely the most versatile and quality discog between all the "mumble rappers," such a dumb way to categorize rappers btw)
experimental - mf doom (1 of my fav discogs throughout music as a whole, almost no bad songs at all which i don't say for many artists, shoutouts to earl, tyler and danny brown. oh and ye as well due to the amount of genres he's tapped into throughout all his albums and creating new sounds)
gangsta - biggie (another hard genre to narrow down but biggie has arguably a top 3 rap album of all time and another classic album whilst also having a large influence over generations and the skill on the mic is also undeniable. also my pick for the greatest flow in rap history as well. shoutout to wu-tang, cube and 50 as well)
emo - havent quite explored this genre enough yet and therefore don't have much knowledge, would love to hear some suggestions on some artists to explore here!
horrorcore - another genre i haven't tapped into much but i did love what i heard from the limited amount of horrorcore that i tapped into which included blh, early tyler and em
psychedelic - travis (i will admit that i am very heavily biased towards travis as his discog is almost flawless except for a few songs on birds and owl pharaoh but his songs and his ability to take someone to another world is unmatched for me, shoutouts go to cudi, rocky, outkast for aquemeni, shabazz places. just checked out flatbush and holy fuck are they good)
jazz - tribe (not many can compare to their discog in hip hop overall let alone this genre)
Drake sucks ASSSSS. graduation is single handedly better than every drake album combined
I love you guys doing different genres and sub categories! NFR is the best in their genre !☝🏾good work guys love the diversity in this keep doing more like this

6:56 I got pop, he was versatile as well that’s why he gets it, chief had great impact though
Chief Keef is way more versatile?
W take its pop smoke and it ain’t close
you never listened to chief keef before and it shows
@@Quesa-Dilla cheif keef is mid at best he has 1 good album. Pop has more bangers a better catalog, and he was way more talented then cheif. Pop also accomplished more in way less time
Jdot Breezy is way better than Pop Smoke, but I respect your opinion.
We all love NFR
You guys should talk more about Three 6 mafia
Overall good video, but having Lil Peep as the emo rap GOAT is fucking insane (no disrespect to him tho). Juice & X’s influence, hits, discography, and overall quality destroy Lil Peep’s.
Best Drill = Pop Smoke🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
End this blasphemy Chief keef is miles ahead
No Cudi on psychedelic is wild to me
not hearing Clipping even get mentioned in the horrorcore genre is an crime "There existed an addiction to blood" and "visions of bodies being burned" are honestly super bangers
Too fire
This video is why I believe there can’t be a definitive answer for best rapper of all time
Totally agree from 5:31
I love ur guys explanation on the emo rap GOAT and agree on a lot of points but I gotta go juice wrld… imo he has the best album out of anyone there and juices music has the best replay value for me personally
And as always this is a common nfr W video
Was waiting on the coke rap
W for choosing Pop Smoke
juice wrld was definitely the best in emo rap no doubt about it. he made emo rap popular and has inspired tons and tons of people. and his style isnt just emo rap hes super versatile in other sub genres too not even to mention the fact he was the best freestyler of the new generation
Nah peep is def better at Emo rap. Juice better pop rap emo sound tho
peep was juice wrlds inspiration btw
Disappointed y’all didn’t mention 50 Cent for Gangsta rap
I am curious as to who has more hits under "gangstar rap" than YB
Does J. Cole belongs to the genre of conscious rap?
Keep dropped Love Sosa and Don’t Like, no contest for the drill scene
Dior, welcome to the party, scenario, flexing, got it on me, Christopher walking, invincible all 100x better pop smoke by far the best drill rapper ever
Not even mentioning Immortal technique in the conscious rap category has personally affected me 😢😢
Uk drill just has a different flavor to it, the uk accent just gives u a whole different vibe…
Special mention to Mac for Jazz Rap
Trap: Juicy J
Pop rap: Drake
Drill music: Chief Keef
Conscious rap: Kendrick Lamar
Mumble rap: Young Thug
Experimental rap: JPEGMAFIA
Gangsta rap: Ice Cube
Emo rap: BONES
Horrorcore rap: Lord Infamous
Psychedelic rap: A$AP Rocky
Jazz rap: Q-Tip
You guys should defo listen to dave and stormzy
11:07 best part of the whole video 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yesir!
Gravediggas deserved a mention for horrorcore imo
i didn't listen to emo stuff much, but Lil Uzi and Trippie Redd had some honorable mention. Just some teen shit someone could usually relate to
if lil yachty psychedelic rock album could be counted as a rap album (mostly in occasions not), Lets Start Here is a honorable mention
you shouldve done coke rap and industrial rap too
Pop rap is drake without a doubt, no one does it like him .
Drake sucks ASSSSS. Kanyes graduation is better than every single drake album combined.
DOOM is incredible of course and he's my number one for that category, however I'm a little disappointed that you didn't give Earl a mention. I mean Some rap songs is probably the best experimental hiphop album ever in my opinion. He also has projects like solace, of course Sick from this year, and more. He's also been an extremely influential artist in the underground, inspiring artists like Mavi, Navy blue, Mike, and so many more. So again, DOOM is my number one, but Earl deserves his flowers as well.
absolutely
Sadly Dont think these guys really into that style but Earl the best experimental rapper of the last 10 years
That's such a wrong and hilarious statement lol. If anyone has the best experimental hiphop album of all time it's Joyner with ADHD
Earl and DOOM are more in the abstract hip hop realm than the experimental realm. Yeah, SRS is pretty experimental but imo it doesn't really fit in with other experimental artists such as peggy, danny brown, dg, clipping, injury reserve and LUM.
I don’t really think some rap songs is experimental mostly abstract
