    One comforting thing is that this event is nothing compared to the 2003 Halloween solar storms.
    Bad thing is we've seen weaker storms effect farther south than previous solar cycles.
    Our magnetic field is weakening and prepping to flip, so less will do more to us.

    X5.89. Is this likely to fry our electronics?

    • @realpropertymangement7640
      @realpropertymangement7640 Před 24 dny +5

      Certainly possible. Dependent on orientation and polarity. But our magnetosphere shield is most definitely compromised at this point.

    • @jenniferjohnson9808
      @jenniferjohnson9808 Před 24 dny +3

      There will be disruptions with internet and radio signals. Even some blackouts are possible. It would take a Carrington event to fry our electronics.

    • @realpropertymangement7640
      @realpropertymangement7640 Před 24 dny +5

      @jenniferjohnson9808 Nope, that's not correct. A Carrington Event would be comparable to an X80 on today's method of measurement. Do your research. It's highly dependent on strength of the earth's magnetosphere (which is presently diminished), orientation (CME direct hit or glancing), and polarity (is it negatively charged and able to couple with the earth's charge to induce transient voltages at high amplitude). Other regional variables as well... iron content of near surface rock/soils, latitude...

      I know you will disagree but frankly I don’t care and if your response Is going to be “it’s your issue” then it’s your peoples issue for being too satisfied with the internet and not having ocd

    I went to the grocery store after the breaking news hit. There were no carts available. People were panic buying all canned food, toilet paper, bottled water etc and all shelves were empty. I regret not stocking up days ago.

      Most people don't pay attention to these kinds of things, so of course they are. Nobody's panicked here.
