ABOUT BON APPÉTIT
Bon Appétit is a highly opinionated food brand that wants everyone to love cooking and eating as much as we do. We believe in seasonal produce, properly salted pasta water, and developing recipes that anyone can make at home. - Zábava
I've been a teetotaler since 2002. Over the last few years the quality and availability of NA options has risen DRAMATICALLY. It's so nice to be able to have NA beverages in social settings that are not just soda or water.
remember there’s juice, mocktail, smoothies, and tea/coffee.
@@RagnarokGenesis00 Thank you for the unsolicited advice! 😃 As if I haven't been a non-drinker for over 2 decades.
@@pantone369cThat's just passive-agressively rude, they were trying to be helpful. You are the one who said only "soda or water" during social gatherings.
@@moemerry7657 Your mother and I are very disappointed in you for arguing with inanimate objects on the internet again. And now she's crying again. LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE!
@@pantone369c 😂 Sorry mom and dad
Andre is the best part of this era of BA, imo.
Absolutely
The problem i have with all of these is the price. They are priced the same as alcoholic drinks, but alcoholic drinks are only as expensive as the are because of the taxes on alcohol.
These here arent taxed like that so they could be way cheaper for the same quality, or way better quality for the same price.
$6 for a small can of fruit soda? Even a boutique specialty fruit soda with a bunch of extracts and aetheric oils would be like $3-4 a can. They just call it aperitif and almost double the price.
100%. The prices should go down as competition increases. NA beers are reasonable since there was an established niche market.
Yeah its just a matter of time until prices come down. The market is currently thrives on novelty but its becoming proven which will invite lots of competition
I remember having a massive argument with someone about this and they were trying to say that scale and process make the drink more expensive but there is no way it makes THAT much of a difference. The Lyre brand of non-alcoholic spirits is literally just water, with extracts and sugar added, pretty much just cordial. I get non-alcoholic wine and beer being pricey because they make the product and distill the alcohol out of it - it's a more complicated process - but for products where it's just sugar, water, flavourings there's no way it should be $40 - $50.
Not to mention these can all skip the fermentation. Removing a process, storage costs, and time, while still costing the same or even more in the case of that gin, It's not mathing.
@@mrloboto The alchohol free gin is still made through distillation with botanicals. Its not that much cheaper to make than gin honestly as the difference is just grain alchohol which is not expensive(gin is dirt cheap to produce though). Obviously taxes make a massive difference though
As a person who is allergic to alcohol, this is what I had been waiting for my whole life.
Glad I’m not alone 🎉
I appreciate you doing this! Thanks for opening up the horizons for those of us who don't partake in alcohol. And I can listen to Andre talk all day!
The growth of Non-Alcoholic Beverages is what I'm most excited about in the beverage world these days! As a non drinker, I'm so happy establishments are giving my choices more and more respect these days.
love the popup about the encyclopedia brittanica at the end there LMAO

Great day when an André Mack video drops. Perfect timing for the 4th!
Athletic Brewing is awesome. NA Beer has really advanced over the years. I quit drinking in 2016, and now I don't miss beer anymore.
You have missed the point...unfortunatly.
@@BigPoppieSeedWhat are you waffling about? He quit alchool, pretty easy to understand
He's an addict who should not be drinking even non-alcoholic drinks. He doesn't take his sobriety seriously and clearly didn't learn his lesson. Be better than your absolute worst.
@jeremyvisser3877 at no point did OP say he was a previous addict you dense mf
@@jeremyvisser3877 what an incredibly obtuse and braindead take.
the problem with non-alcoholic is... it shouldn't cost more than the alcohol. Especially mocktails... like what
It’s still the same labor process alcohol or not.
While that may be true, there’s still massive amounts of taxes on alcohol that wouldn’t apply to these beverages.
I'm fully on the Phony Negroni bandwagon.
(I've never tried it, I just love the name.)
Feels like a lot of valuable criticism was edited out :/
Agreed! Especially seedlip - most of the words sound positive but it was apparent I don't think he liked it / thought it a bit pointless . Who are they trying to protect?
The sober crowd is a tricky one to market content towards. I’ve seen people get so defensive when it comes to criticism towards NA products because any negative comments get twisted into framing the person making said comments as somehow promoting alcoholism or alcohol use. I think NA products have their place and it’s great that there are a lot more products in this category on the market now, but the people who champion them always seem to also give off this subtle disdain towards people who still partake in alcohol. It’s fine if people want to stay sober, but there’s no need to get high and mighty towards others just because you made a personal life decision.
Hard to know if it was a lot, or if he was mostly self-censoring, but yeah, seems like the final video doesn't present his full, honest assessment of every one of these
@@kellenholt6655 Sounds a lot like vegans, too.
@@fkcoolers2669Sounds like a lot of projection 🤥
I've got an autoimmune disease that is triggered by alcohol, so I'm missing cocktails, wine, and ales so much 😭
Hopefully I'll find a new special occasion drink through this!
I have family members who don't drink and struggle with what to serve them. Thank you for this super helpful review!
Andre is a wealth of knowledge. I am a drinker, but I will watch all of Andre's content.
Thanks for this fascinating post. I will look for a few of these.
really cool to see NA stuff being shown since it can really be a fantastic area to stay social without partaking
This is AWESOME - such a thorough watch, educational and awesome to shine a light on the category. LOVE the Nightcap review too! thanks
Guinness 00. Is easily the best non-alcoholic drink I've ever had. I'm irish and love Guinness. You should 100% try it
I was impressed. It tastes just like Guinness. All I could ask.
Would it be crazy to ask for a video with Andre using these NA drinks in cocktails 🫣 specifically for the ones he said would probably be better mixed into something
I stopped drinking alcohol in 2011. I loved IPAs and double IPAs. I was skeptical when I heard about the Athletic NA IPA. Then I tried it. I am so happy I found this. It tastes delightful and I feel I’m drinking one of my favorite IPAs. Thank you Athletic!
Let’s gooooo!!!! I’m obsessed !!! More videos ! more videos !!!
Loved this! 💜💜💜
I had the Athletic Brewery Run Wild IPA at lunch yesterday. I got to the point in the can where I would start feeling a buzz and wasn’t buzzed in the slightest. I was shocked! It’s a great IPA, you don’t miss anything but the alcohol.
Appreciate Andre's honest opinions and I would offer these to guests if I was hosting a party. Thanks Andre!
Yay!!! Ready to learn!!!!
Always watch Andre bring more!
typically if I want to drink something that's not alcoholic, if they have it I always go for rishi teas sparkling botanicals, they go insane. i love them
Thank you so much for doing this! For medical reasons I stopped drinking & am enjoying exploring the NA options & you’ve added more to my list! Athletic Brewing Hazy IPA is the best! Also I am dying to know where you got your spirit glass; I can’t find it anywhere!
I had the Seedlip in a mocktail recently and it was genuinely delicious.
Andre does point out that it would probably be way better in a mixer, especially since it's meant to replace gin, and who on earth drinks gin by itself?
Loved the episode and also love your blend for Proxies. Definitely think you need to try those NA spirits as mocktails - the Almave is exceptional in a margarita.
Gotta get him a bottle of Pathfinder. Absolute best NA spirit I’ve ever had, uncannily resembles real amaro!
Been NA 3 years and just now getting into this stuff. Was a great review with many products I’ve had my eye on. I enjoy the Ghia spirtz and now looking to try the nightcap and aplos.
This is the episode I have been waiting for! Not sure why some of these were chosen as there are better options but I’m happy all the same
This was awesome. Thanks for covering this category. I drink, but my wife is a teetotaler, so we've been exploring and making lots of non-alcoholic cocktails. You really hit all the big ones. The only other one I could recommend at the moment is Pathfinder, which mixes great.
There is a brand called Norah's Valley in South Africa, that makes the best de-alcoholised wine in the South African market. They also have a RTD alcohol-free wine in a 300ml can. You should try it sometime.
😂🤣He’s back 😊
yaaay finally an episode I can watch!
More Andre!!!!!
I love that Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic beer. They stopped selling it in Australia and I was devastated.
I was shocked when I tasted NA Guiness. It is amazing. Hope you will put that in a future video. Cheers.
I find for seedlip you have to mix it. Their spice one tastes like nothing, but mix it with a cola and you can totally taste the 'spiced rum' vibes. Strange, but it totally works
Same with the Garden that he tried. On its own it's incredibly subtle, but with soda and a sharp ginger ale it wakes up and feels like a cocktail.
Why are these all priced the same (if not more) than the alcoholic alternatives?
They know who are buying these products, it ain't folks that are broke.
@@aaronjkeegan very true. I always see NA options at the more upscale boujee bars
I’ve had a few non-alcoholic cocktails and the phony Negroni is by far my favorite. My husband and I have it on my “pregnant but craving alcohol” list.
André never disappoints.
Always great to see you! Keep going🤙🏾
André please do a video about all the different types of amaros and/or digestifs. We need your guidance!
It is wonderful to see such a great variety in this category, however the price is steep.
Cool!
Sidenote on the switch to 700ml - this as well as other sizes (720ml, 900ml, 1.8l) were commonly used before the law/rule changed in the US as they were common in the European and Asian markets.
I found myself wondering how much valerian (natural sedative) is in the Nightcap … ? Shouldn’t that be required to be listed?
As others have said: your videos on every topic are exceptional; thank you!
I've been cool with pellegrino so I'm excited to see what they have to offer
Untitled Art's NA Juicy IPA is my hands down favorite!!!
Lol reading the encyclopedia and passing out for 2 days😂
Yes! Finally one for the non-drunkards!
I love this video! So helpful
First experienced no alcohol beer in the Middle East in early 2000s…tasted same and not a fan but in some countries it’s the only easy option
I’m interested in the Three Spirit Nightcap..
Ghia is decent and worth a try. Count me out for all the rest. 😝🤭🤨😒😮💨
I felt the cough for Almave!
Would be cool to see Andre try the THC/CBD drinks they’re starting to sell.
What glass is that?
The prices are unhinged
andre you should taste test the cbd/thc drinks and “liquors” they have started making
Can we get a video of Andre making non alcoholic cocktails with these drinks?
If I can find an NA that’s not overly sweet or high in sugar, which is a primary reason I cut back on alcohol, and not carbonated, then I’ll be real happy!
I see Andre, I click, I hit the like button, then I watch. It ain’t that hard!
He’s wearing his summer beanie.
Finally… more NA drinks!
Have you thought of a THC beverage video?
Check out Go Brewing Non-alcoholic beers, they have 10+ different types.
ummmm.... so... what is the difference between these and Kambucha?
I wish this was out 2 weeks ago. I’ve wasted a couple hundred trying no alc beverages.
As soon as he said celebrity…. 😂
Josephinenhütte glasses?
The way this guy thinks about steaks and hamburgers is how I think of alcohol
Aging wine in a barrel to enhance flavor is by definition adding flavor to wine.
Really wanted to skip this (non alcoholic!?) but couldn’t pass up an opportunity listen to Andre to talk about adult(?) beverages.
Where did he find a copy of an Encyclopedia, though?
Public library.
NA has yet to impress me.
Best part is it still as expensive as the real stuff
Mmm. Kerosene 😂
Who’s on their 2nd beer watching this? After sharing a bottle of wine. After an aperitif. After day drinking.
Higher margin without alcohol 👀
Non-alcoholic tequila upsets me on so many levels...
You definitely have people who drink energy drinks socially
Non alcoholic drinks should be cheaper then alchol drinks
i get that its tasty but 6$ a can ??!! Probably made for people who are used to buying 200$ wine bottles without even thinking about it twice.
Ive tried non-alcohol wine and pseudo gin drinks and they have universally been awful. Will continue to try but they have a long way to go. Also as mentioned here they are way so overpriced.
I bet all these drinks are overloaded with sugar. Rather have the grey goose on ice. I don’t f#%* with juices etc like that. Def no soda!
I'm sorry you got to try something like this...... business is business
The problem with any of these is that I will not pay alcohol prices for them. All of these would need to cut their prices by at least 50% for me to purchase them. No to mention that the carb count in most of them is so high that it would be healthier to drink the alcoholic equivalent
How many points can you miss 🤦♀️
@@catleigh1540looks like you missed them all
But a normal mango is also ready to go.. in natural packaging.. people are so lazy nowadays
First 🔥
I'm kind of surprised the non-alcoholic market is really only just starting to grow. The idea of drinking a flavorful drink that isn't overly sugary and isn't alcoholic just doesn't appeal to anyone?
Boo, JK.
I don’t care if he tries a similar wine that he drank two years ago please go back to him talking about wine
this should be illegal
You mean fruit juices?
Isn't wine literally just a fruit juice?
