How to Make an Elegant Black and Pink Birthday Cake!

- Another family friend’s cake coming your way! The instructions were to make a black and pink cake- this is probably one of the easiest designs you will create, fit for a 60th birthday or even a wedding haha! Not kidding. I would legit be happy with this as a small wedding cake. Something about this design is just so simplistic, but all the while demand all the attention in the room. I think anyway ;)
In the video, I share how I like to make black frosting / buttercream. You don’t have to mix buttercream with ganache, you could simply colour white buttercream with the black gel food colour, or you could add the gel colour to straight up dark chocolate ganache, with no buttercream at all. By doing the latter, you would probably only need to add one third of the amount of gel food colour :) I reserved this coloured frosting for the outside of the cake and used all natural buttercream for the filling. People tend not to eat the outside decoration, so you are less likely to have your guests wind up with purple tongues by the end of the night, compared to if you coloured the frosting all the way through the cake. I hope this helps!
