This study Bible teaches a false doctrine of salvation. On page 2502 it conspicuously omits Jesus’ command to believe and be baptized to be saved, Mark 16:15-16. Do you believe baptism is necessary to be saved as Jesus plainly taught in those passages?

@@GodSeekerElijah I can’t endorse any study bibles without reservation because although they are packed with great information they have the potential to mislead due to the inherent theological bias. A topical chain reference bible or a plain reference bible avoids this while still providing lots of extra info. I’d recommend a Thompson chain reference which is available in those translations but the NKJV uses a historically sounder text base. So my recommendation is a NKJV Thompson chain reference!

I'm interested in investing in a good Bible to possibly hand down to my kids. I'd considered a Schuyler, but the size of the standard is too big for me and the personal size I'm concerned would be too small. I'm considering either a cowhide ESV STUDY BIBLE or the premium Reformation Study Bible.

I just received the MacArthur hard cover for a study reference, so it will be a little while or the wife will... never mind... she wouldn't do that anyway. I have the older (2014) edition, which has a larger font than this edition. The larger the print the better for me, although this font is still very readable. I absolutely love this study bible. The wealth of information with the notes and the resources at the back after Revelation is just staggering. I got to commend the scholars for their hard work on this Bible. I recently ordered the MacArthur Study Bible (NASB 1995) and I'm really looking forward to reading MacArthur's notes, as it has 5,000 more than the ESV Study Bible, at 25,000 notes, which is amazing.

Also, Schuyler has created a full blown premium Schuyler ESV Study Bible available for preorder now. Will you be getting one, Matthew? It has to be the ultimate. Allan's personal size uses the same Crossway block from China. I dearly wish Schuyler would do one as the regular size is a beast. Excellent review of the ESV Study Bible. My current Study Bible has fallen apart into about 9 sections so I am looking for a place to send it to get rebounded. It was my Dad’s Bible and he passed away so I definitely wanted his Bible. He read it every day for 20+ years and highlighted it in yellow. So since I led my Dad to Jesus I wanted his Bible. I have used it every day for 10+ years highlighting it in pink so we see the difference between my Dad’s study and myself. If you have a recommendation for rebinding the Bible please share with me as to whom I can get this done. I am planning on buying the ESV Study Bible!!! Thank you very much for this review!!!‼️👍💪❤️🇺🇸🙌🙏✝️

    Hello Pastor,
You have taught me so much. I appreciate it and thank you!
    I have a question.
I have the woman's ESV study Bible.
    I love KJV and ESV.
Recently I am in Genesis. Rarely do I read the devotionals.
The devotional by Heather House said," Jacob does nothing to win God's favor and Esau does nothing to lose it. God loves both."
    Malachi 1 states differently.
"2 “I loved you,” says the Lord.
“But you ask, ‘How did you love us?’
“Wasn’t Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the Lord. “I loved Jacob, 3 but Esau I hated. I turned his mountains into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the jackals in the desert.
4 “The descendants of Esau may say, ‘We have been beaten down, but we will rebuild the ruins.’
“Yet, this is what the Lord of Armies says: They may rebuild, but I will tear it down. They will be called ‘the Wicked Land’ and ‘the people with whom the Lord is always angry.’ 5
Now as I read in ESV I wonder what to believe. I use to be strictly KJV. I respect it.
Do you have anything to say concerning this discrepancy?
I would greatly appreciate your input! Shalom aleichem.

@@Yesica1993 I currently have 64 unique study bibles and there about 10 more I plan on getting. I do have some duplicates on top of that number as well because if I like one enough to highlight and take notes in it I will buy a second copy to keep an unmarked one. I also have a couple dozen regular Bible with no study notes, but I don’t tend to buy those anymore.
To be fair though I’m in my 50s and my only “hobby” is theology. I’m sure my entire theology library (around 500 books currently but growing) cost less than a fishing boat or a nice camper etc... I try to get the best quality editions and I keep the original boxes so that they only have ware from me reading them. I also don’t mark in any of my books unless I get a second copy. This will allow me to pass on a library of well maintained and unmarked books to someone else when I die. I also try to only keep books that are theologically sound (conservative evangelical) so that I don’t pass on garbage to the next generation. That has caused me to chuck a few books (and bibles) in the trash.

What's interesting is that both are printed in black ink, with a single accent color (orange). I wish they had colorful illustrations and maps, like the original version. Still, the one in Portuguese is my most used study Bible at the moment, I absolutely love it.

This is a pretty cool feature: There are three types of commentary highlightings used, (1) whole paragraph (which is a Roman Numerical level of the book outline), (2) a scripture plus description highlighting (which is the Capital Letter level of the book outline), and (3) the description-only highlighting (which is a numbered item level of the book outline). So this is a visual way of seeing the outline sections in the commentary notes. Pretty cool !!! I learned that when I stared a project to build a personal-use-only PDF version of this Bible in order to do a “format shift” under the Fair Use Copyright Protection Act, to use on my iPad. I expect it will take me another 4 months to complete this project.
