Şerefe everyone 😉
Şerefe & Stin geia mas Filos! Respect to Rakı & Ouzo from Turkey.
Sanada şerefe dostum
Lol 😎👏🏼
Oh guys you screwed up ouzo and water dosage. At least check before to find out how to make it correct. That's why you don't like it and
what is serefe is that sheriff? Not a nice video bro, you never bring Gupsy Turks together with Greeks that is sinful towards civilization and humanity as a whole!
Love the lion's milk reference! haha
Only turkish People will get it
Aslan sütü which is the beverage for the strong ones can only drink xd

I'm big fan of Raki!!!!!
and I'm big fan of Ouzo :)
Raki is legend
try with some fish and salad
@@adamkowalski8110 i tasted both of them and i wanna say Rakı is better than 100 times Ouzo. Its mine opinion. Peace ✌️
@@cagdas5914 bruh its the same thing
Hava rakıya döndü, akşam Müslüm babayla bi 70cc lik göründü:)
İzleyen herkes akşam en az birer kadeh içti :))
Although it's a classic, at the end of the day, Yeni Rakı is an entry-level rakı. When you have a chance, I suggest you try Beylerbeyi Göbek rakısı or Efe Gold.
We will those ones next time. Thanks;)
Also, Saki Rakı. my favorite
Can Sabah I purchased the Efe Triple distilled. How does that compare to gold? I haven’t had either..
Tekirdag gold series is really nice and smooth and next to it salgam
you can drink beylerbeyi göbek without water easily
I am Turkish. Raki goes in first as you said pal. Old Traditional way is drink it with feta cheese, natural yogurt, mezes, watermelon. Also Turkish tea glass is an old tradition way of drinking it as this is the way we seen from our fathers 😊 raki is to bring people together and share your problems and listen to each others with respect along with a nice chilling Turkish music that you played. People say cheers we say "sherefe" mean whatever you chat and share on that table stays on that table. Enjoy guys
@@Aaron-lk6pl you know that no one cares right.
Turkey is a secular country and many Turks are liberal Muslims, especially the western part.
Also not everyone is Muslim in Turkey.
@@Aaron-lk6plEver heard of secular Turks?
if you drink rakı,must be there with ijs and mezes and grill meat ...
haha, next time:)
Whether it's Turkish or Greek... If they listen the song on 6th minute, it is unnecessary to compare and argue which is the best. The best is the spirit behind and beyond that environment which covers them all.
Great video. By the way, AFAIK you can drink raki without water, but it’s not meant to be a shot. It is to complement the variety of meze dishes throughout a long dinner and you need to take your time, sip by sip.
Thanks for the comment:)
whisky , ouzo and raki the best drinks!! thanks Urban for this channel!
I am Syrian we drink also Raki but we name it Arak
It is the same with Turkish Raki
Cheeers 🍷
My friends in school used to play the Yeni Rakı playlist in the smartboard.
I like it and felt like I was in a bar with the boys.
Well done. Greetings from Poland 🥃👊
Brilliant! Loved the enthusiasm and energy. Afiyet olsun!
Glad you enjoyed it!
great presentation thanks guys.
Thank You.
love this video. so much fun.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🥃
Nice video by the way. Cheers
Thank you
ooo that last shot mate really shake your lungs the guy on right lost his sight for sec great ball of fire
😂
😂
Fantastic!!!
Another interesting video 🤔
Ouzo goes together with deep-fried seafood. Since we usually drink it in the summer, instead of adding water we add ice and sip it slowly while eating. Drinking ouzo on its own is not something you would usually see in Greece.
same as raki. only taste is different. culture is same
No meze? Come on guys, you should have some sidedish with raki
Next time we will do it properly. Thanks for the comment Mehmet 😉
Buyuk rezalet meze olmamasi.
@027 kbps net connection mezes deniliyo yurtdisinda yunan ve Turk restorani menulerinde. Dolayisiyla “appetizer” olarak kullanildigi biliniyor
It’s all about how much anise oil it has in it. If it has more, you get whiter color. But,if you put more anise, you have to keep the ABV high in order to keep it clear, otherwise, when it gets cold, you know ABV is low at colder temps,it gets cloudy and it can get blueish.
So,ouzo is 40% ABV and Raki is 45% ABV. Sure it has more anise in it. If ouzo had that much of anise,it would probably have been cloudy. I hope you enjoyed it! Pair it with goat cheese!
Cheers bro
Music was nice on ending haha
Man, you need to try Tekirdağ Altın series 🤷♂️
Actually those bottles are just basic iconic brands. There is more special taste in both Turkey and Greece. As we know everyone can get different taste sure but for me, the best ouzo and raki is Ouzo Plomari from Greece and Kara Efe from Turkey
Guys I share in my Facebook, I hope many Turkish friends will watch it. Thanks guys 😍
Thanks Onder;)
Tried Raki the other day very similar in taste (liquorish) to absinthe. Thanks to the aniseed I presumed. After taking in the aroma and inspection of the label I knew it be best served well hydrated having finished my fair share of Absinthe. Sure enough it clouded nicely with water. Compared to some of the name brand Absinthe I’ll take this any day for taste and price. However I do enjoy the 🧚♂️ every now and then
Thanks for sharing this, Joel.
Raki is 45% and Ouzo is 37% - 40%. Thats why Raki seems whiter when you mix it with water.
Good choose man 😂👍
Thanks Mustafa
These guys are awesome lol
Kiedyś upiłem się Yeni Raki, to przez tydzień mi się anyżkiem odbijało😆🤭
You should try rakı with "şalgam". It turnips juice.
noted :)
Rakı with şalgam is a taste that us Turks developed. I made an english friend try it, the result was tragic. It requires a lot of getting used to.
Don't think raki is an alcohol only.its a remedy at the same time🥛🥛🥛👍
Great video, thank you for taking the time to do it. A few things, first about ouzo, it's a great drink to make cocktails, you can't make any cocktails with raki. But I also didn't like it when I tried it the way you did. Barbayanni ouzo is the one closest to raki, it's excellent, especially the black one, Aphrodite it's called I suppose .. %48 pure delight. Back to raki, I don't know what it was that you drank, but lion's milk is raki's nickname here (aslan sutu), so it was probably some exported raki. Another thing, though I'm not the expert, if you pour half and half raki/water, it's called the commissar double. So only rich and powerful people can afford that :)). The usual way to pour is, first the raki, then water, then ice. If you put ice before the water there is a danger for the aniseed to crystallize, and that leaves a greasy texture in your mouth which is unpleasant. I like it dry, the way people drank in the ancient days, in small sips - not in shots, and with water to wash away the burn. Actually there is a local version of way of drinking, where you have some variety of turnip water (called shalgam suyu) instead of water, but this one requires real getting used to. I did try it on an english friend, who was extremely liberal on that kind of things, but he hated it. Anyway thank you very much for the video, Cheers :)
One last thing about ouzo vs raki. I find it sad that you cannot make local raki in Turkey legally, only the ones mass producers are making. In Greece every other place, even taverns can make their own ouzo, so there are infinite varieties. Lucky neighbors,
Thanks a lot for this comment, iobacchy. I think we need to organise a trip to Turkey to do it properly ;)
iobacchy speaking of Raki I have the Turkish version of it and this Albanian guy scoffed at how I use water with it. Is their a difference as to how drinking it straight the Albanian version of it that is versus the Turkish? Also I do have Barbayanni ouzo which the Albanian guy said the ouzo 12 was better but I’m hearing ouzo 12 has gotten commercialized. What’s your take?
iobacchy I have Efe triple distilled and Yeni Raki as well
@@YUCAYEQUE Hi Kiki, sorry for the delayed reply. I don't know how the Albanians drink it, I'd guess they drink it dry, In Turkey there are very few people who don't mix it with water. They may have a thing going on in Albania like .. the more water you mix your raki with, the less manly you are, or that sort of thing, I don't know, it's just my two cents opinion. Ouzo is great .. if you make cocktails. I tried 12, its ouzo. Barbayanni isn't, it's raki, I tried all 3 varieties, they're all raki and what's more they are great raki varieties, we don't have that quality raki here in Turkey, I don't know the export versions. The Black one, the Aphrodite is my absolute favorite.
Turkish raki is sometimes dry "plain", sometimes it is drunk with water, it can be eaten with cheddar, pastrami, olives and lettuce.
I used to drink a lot of Yeni Rakı, Tekirdağ, Beylerbeyi you name it and after neurology doctor's prescription i can't drink even 2 cc. Enjoy it, and drink for me lads. And please drink in good health. :)
Best job ever
It’s for having with meze. Not after dinner
So basically while you grace on things like some cheese, olives, meats, octopus, proper dense bread with dips like Tarama or tzatziki, sardines (not canned) etc
what is the song at the end
Witam miało być po polsku więc..Panowie i Panie robicie kawał dobrej roboty by uświadamiać ludzi w temacie whisky serdecznie pozdrawiam całą ekipe no i oczywiście Urbana peace 5
Ohh boy. My Efe Gold Raki waiting me in the fridge and after watchging this, tonight the night!
Şerefe guys..
Ahh would love to have some Raki in Agean sea with Greek neigbours
You have to try Terkirdag gold series, yeni raki is actually not that good in comparison haha
harika. i remember that guy from other touristic videos. very good job.
but i have advice for you guys, always drink raki with meze.
Thanks for the tips!
@@CraftWhiskeyBoys you're welcome. you guys doing great job
Should've gotten Barbayianni Ouzo Blue Bottle instead of Ouzo 12.
If you guys have a chance to go to Greece, go to the less touristy islands like Chios or Lesbos and try the Souma there. Every villages make their own Souma.
Mam ochotę na rudą! 🐮
I put ouzo in my fridge, it got weird crystal looking chunks that were soft in my mouth when I tried it straight, and it curdled like milk when I added it to water.
It's because of the anise oil it contains. Never put ouzo or raki in a place colder than +4°C. Your ouzo is wasted, the anise oil is crystalized. Try heating it to 25°C and shake(or stir), if you are lucky you can save your ouzo's life.
@@sideeffectaddict If it wasn't only half of a $20 bottle I already dumped I might have tried that.
Red meat or grilled meat and rakı/ouzo is brilliant, the after taste 😋
Oh especially with fish
Never overpour water, to much water will give you stomachach. Don’t pour to much raki either you should do a 40%raki en 50/60% water in your glass. After every sip it is tradition to eat something small like vegetables/fruits/cheese/fish/chicken etc. It prevent you from puking :)
You gotta eat some seafood and meze with that raki. It’s not the best when it’s drunk on its own 👌🏼
Sen de rakıcısın haa
Thanks a lot for this lovely video. Hillarious...
You drink Yeni Rakı, which is the most popular one.
But Yeni Rakı is an entry-level as Can Sabah says below.
Because Yeni Rakı has some agrarian ethyl alcohol in it. So the alcohol is not fully produced from grapes.
There's a second type. Which don't have ethyl alcohol but have refined white sugar to speed up the process.
These second type includes "Kulüp Rakı (heaviest of rakıs and has it is own rules)", "Altınbaş", "Âlâ"...
This second type is very good.
But there's a third type. Which no ethyl alcohol or sugar is used.
They produce these ones genuinely according to the traditions.
This third type includes all of "Beylerbeyi" products (Mavi, Razaki, Göbek 3, Kalecik Karası), "Mor Saki", "Yeni Rakı Uzun Demleme"
You can feel the grape's taste from these ones...
Btw Şerefinize!
Στην υγειά σας!
thats why lebanese national drink Arak is the best made strictly from grape(blanc Obeidi or Merwah) alc and aniseed(from hermoun best aniseed in the world) ,no bs fillers at 50-53% and aged for 2 years in clay amphora jars, best ones are ksarak(beeka valley also make good wine) and ghantous abou raad
@@ARCSTREAMS Yeaah that’s right. I tasted some. Btw, according to the refinement and the complexity of the processes, you can easily follow the path of these kind of products up to their main and genuine sources. In this example we can say that ouzo or rakı or arak are coming from Levant. It’s obvious…
@@mimerd This cannot be said with certainty because the Ottoman Empire also took over Arab countries and they took over many Arabic words and vice versa.
Also it's not certain what some brands of our arak has in it, some put more ingredients in it and lie to their customers about them.
I'm half Spanish and half umm, not British but German. 😅 Anyways, I found it interesting, how good the Spanish version of ouzo tastes vs the original Greek one. You got the Anis del Mono from Spain, which has a heftier oomph in the anis departement than an Ouzo 12 Gold. Both have similar alcohol volumes. I definitely prefer the Spanish "copy" here. I've yet to try Ouzo 12 original though, I admit.
In iraq when we drink raki/arak we say lion’s milk “حليب سباع" as well
You should do a vs with arak al-asrya
Wow i like🍾🍾🍾

Big ups from uRban!
You should drink raki with mezze, especially with Turkish cheese, fish or meat. Also you will love raki with Turkish tea glass 🤤

Bro try another Turkish raki called tekirdagi rakisi this one is beautiful
I got a feeling that I can easily find a group of people here in the comment section to go on a raki dinner together.
So which drink you like most?
we put raki first because knowing the amount is important
proof of the tonic is risque. caught in the very style.
We are big fun of rakı , turkey trawels funny times😂
Tekirdağ Gold is much better than Yeni Rakı, you should try it.
Thanks mate! We will check it out;)
Kurone?
Leons milk ! 😂
My favourite YENİ RAKI UZUN DEMLEME % 45 Alcohol,Sugar-free distilled five times 👌I recommend it to raki lovers
In levant called Arak 😁
Without meze or fish and salad it's a hard drink to take .
Ouzo is slightly smoother on the pallet but both Yeni raki and Oozo are deadly so at most drink three to five servings worth and the buzz will be nice, beyond that can be not good.
For those who wonder what rakı tastes like. It tastes exactly like liquorice
thx to the ouzo guy my eyes are bleeding now..
I would recommend you tekirdag raki much better then a yeni raki
Ouzo and Raki are both Greek. Raki was enjoyed in Meyhanes (Christian meze/alcohol bars) run by Rûm (Greeks) during the Ottoman Empire and was also produced at home in secret by Greeks, both Raki and Ouzo are rooted from tsipouro. Eventually Ataturk popularized the alcoholic drink among the new generation of secular Turks, making it a official Turkish dink which is dumb.
Not true at all Raki is not greek. And Greece was a colony of Ottoman Turks for 600 years. So many of Greek dishes came from Ottoman courts. That's why Greek food is not like European food or white man's food. If Greeks want to be European you should eat English or German or Dutch food which is European.
@@samtech9622
Yes Raki is Greek, there is not debate about it but Turks made it their national drink, so there is confusion. "Greece" which included a big part of Anatolia was not a colony but part of the Ottoman Empire itself and it was for 400 years not 600. Turkic people couldn't make a layered dish yet all of a sudden when they took over the Byzantine Empire which was the culinary center of the world, they magically produced all these dishes within decades? No, the issue is that writing about food recipes was a rarity in those times but the Ottomans were known to write recipe books because it was mandatory but with all things Turkish it was without origins. Modern researchers place most of the Ottoman cuisine’s roots in Byzantium and even ancient Greece also from Arabian and Persian sources.
Az sie chce sprobowac :)
ahhh RAKI ! one of a kind. I was given a bootle by my brother after his holiday in Turkey, I tend drink my spirits by shots following with the chaser, and decided to do a bottle with my friend before going out on Friday evening in Kingston. I remember Raki as it was the only one that my stomach refused to take, and I could not belive it! I'll never forget it.. I don't know why but it made me very nauseous hence I've being hugging toilet pan few times, same goes for my mate before we were able to sound the victory over Raki bottle that evening :), at that time for us it was this peculiar matter of honor that body have to follow mind decision even if it dosen't like it hahhahaha ohh uni days are over now and things changed since then but I'll always remember that personal fight with a bottle of Raki hahaha.

You guys should try home made fig raki and turnip juice then lets see your face 😂
haha consider it done
Hello guys
Raki is probably a good brand while Ouzo is a local brand
You to get both of similar brand made in their country of origin and spirit/alcohol volume, then pour a full glass of the spirit in the small glass and then water in the taller glass .... do not mix, ice blocks can be used the spirits, only
Try 90% Greek Ouzo then you need a water chaser OPA and break the small glass for luck

Raki strikes you, guys! While you drink it, be careful and drink slowly😁
Sadly the information about the word "rakı" is wrong. The word is not derived from Arabic. The word "rakı" derived from old Turkish word "arak" which is translated as "something that is purified" literally. Both derivatives are still used in Turkic dialects from Atlantic to Pacific. "Rakı" form is used in western dialects and "arak" forms in eastern dialects. The word "arı" also is anorher derivative means "pure" in Turkic dialects.
You need grilled fish/meat and different appetizers to this kind of alcohol.
No they don't use tea glasses. In Turkiye they have specific glasses for raki
evet çay bardağı kullanıldı kullanılıyor . ayrıca atatürk çay bardağı ile içerdi tüm rum meyhanelerinde rakı çay bardağı ile servis edilirdi.
Raki is legend
No to cyk i do mnie leci wygrana.
Rakı+meze(food)=happiness
Raki and Ouzo are both descendants of Arak, but more diluted. I recommend a Arak review. Try Arak Muaddi (www.muaddi.com), that's my go to spirit when I'm craving anise.
ben türküm ama yunan rakısı çok güzel içimi yumuşak ve keyifli
You’re suppose to eat rockmelon and or feta cheese after a sip of Raki.
watch till the end.. raki from a tea glass 😱
Yesss, tea glass it is my friend,it's very common in Turkey:)We have a saying in turkish 'çay bardağı candır';
It means something like; 'tea glass is your best mate;)
Dude ! Are you drinking raki without Meze ? You must listen to Muslum Gurses ' songs with Raki..
To me turkish raki, ouzo and levantine arakh are all the same drink, what I'd call raki is the one from the Balkans which is drank pure and is not spiced with anise.
Bulgarian variant of raki is mastika. Also with water
drown rakı mastika
