  • Recorded on 3 January 2022 near Mt Gambier, we explored this fresh water snorkling spot. Ewens Ponds consists of 3 big limestone sinkholes with natural springs bubbling up from their bottoms. The sinkholes are connected by channels that flow all the way out to sea on the watercourse of Eight Mile Creek about 25 kilometres south of Mount Gambier in South Australia. Driving there the skies were overcast, but just as we were ready to get in, sunshine broke through and turned this experience into a magical underwater world of colour and beauty. Permits are required in order to snorkel or dive in the sinkholes.
