- Today, I am reviewing the OEM accessories for the Ryker. Skip to the bottom of this description for clickable time markers if you don't want to watch through the whole video.
I installed the pannier mount and sport windshield over the weekend, but my GoPro corrupted that footage somehow... so we don't have any installation video for those unfortunately.
LinQ Top Case: not great
I have been using the LinQ top case for about a week, and I have made my opinions about its suitability for commuting. Unfortunately, I can't give it a 2-thumbs up rating... more like 1 thumb (maybe 1.5 thumbs). The top case doesn't have any provision for locking (easily), so it's impractical for anyone in a busy or high-theft area. The second downfall is that the opening is very narrow, so it won't even fit a 12" Ultrabook/laptop. It costs $199, so it's an expensive, and not very useful item in my opinion.
Adjustable Sport Windshield: GOOD! 👍👍
[UPDATE: 2019-03-29]: I have 1000+ miles behind this windshield now, and I can give it an enthusiastic 2-thumbs up!
The sport windshield is fresh for me, so I don't have an educated opinion about it quite yet. It seems to be well-made and the mount is very secure (no wiggling or shaking like some aftermarket screens). The installation/mounting is a bit fiddly and requires some tweaking to work, but it looks like a good piece so far.
Smartphone Holder: GREAT 👍👍
The kit consists of a RAM X-Grip and a Can-Am specific bar mount. I already own several X-Grips and they work really well. This Can-Am bar mount is very nice and includes the relief area (cutout) for the wire harness. The installation instructions show to mount it only on the right side. NONSENSE! I'll be installing two of those brackets, one on each side to hold the phone, GPS, GoPro, etc.
Saddlebag Rack and SHAD Hard Saddlebag (SH36): FANTASTIC! 👍👍👍
The star of the show is the pannier mount and SHAD SH36 saddlebag/pannier. I really like the SHAD equipment from my use on other bikes, and the Ryker is the new beneficiary to receive the same case in a quick swap. I recommend that anyone purchasing this kit to do the following:
1. Get the inner bag accessory, as it makes loading and unloading smaller items very easy, and it contains them to prevent spillage when opening the case.
2. Invest in some 3M clear bra (protector film) for the front-lower portion of the case. The saddlebag hangs very low, close to the road, and it's in the splash area behind the front-right wheel... the ABS plastic is soft and will take a beating over time, I'm sure.

Your video is way better than any other videos I've seen, for the Ryker accessories! The BRP videos are dizzying! They probably hired Gordon Ramsey's cameraman , because they everything but the accessory you are trying to see, and they swith images every 1 or 2 seconds!!! THANKS!
HAHAHAAA! I had the same impression... I thought I was going to have an epileptic seizure watching a few of the Ryker promo videos with all of that flashing and rapid color changing! Thx for the feedback! I'll be posting a bunch more Ryker videos soon, and I should have some wrench/hack/mod videos in there as some of my Ryker projects get ramped up (e.g. MAX mount adapter plate, lighting, etc). I also had issues with the side case opening and closing. The cure is to fully seat the gasket all the way around the case. I had this problem on a top case for a different bike. Once you push the gasket in the case will open and close better
Thx for the feedback... that's great info! I guess I was just lucky with my SH36's... the latches and locking mechanisms have always worked perfectly. I have noticed that a little bit of water will seep into the case if I use a pressure washer around the seal area. So, it's not completely water tight under extreme circumstances (probably couldn't submerge them). Under normal rain use (including torrential downpours) they don't leak at all. --QM

Thx! I'll probably start my adapter plate project sometime next week. We have several good fabrication shops here in Houston, so I'll see who I can wrangle into the project. I'm thinking something along the lines of Alt-Rider ( www.altrider.com/images/thumbnail/product_large/feature-altrider-rear-luggage-rack-for-the-honda-crf1000l-africa-twin.jpg ) but a little longer front-to-back. I feel the same about the asymmetric bag... it needs a left-side mount. Someone in the aftermarket community will probably tackle that and just place the bags further away from the bike for symmetry (clearance for the swingarm). --QM

Yes, I love to twist that throttle over and over again... and I love to HATE the alignment. ;-) After the alignment is sorted, I plan to ride the wheels off of this thing. My first road trip will be up to the Austin, TX area to ride the hill country and do some motocamping. The next trip will probably be up to the Sypder fest in Missouri (?) in May. I'm looking for details on that gathering. --QM
@@QuasiMotard . Good to hear. I am about 99% sure I need a Ryker Rally in my life. I rode motorcycles since 1999, but I find myself getting vertigo, and wrist pain on a normal two wheeler. I still want the open air Adventure, but want the extra stability that this wheeled snowmobile seems to offer.
@@robertfox4524 Yessir... I think you'll be pleased! The Ryker is very much a snowmobile for the street. You can pilot it as nicely as you'd like, but it does beg to be flogged a bit (watch for a couple of upcoming videos for the roll-on performance... it's amazing). I ride/drive everything on wheels, and I have 15 bikes in the stable right now (the Ryker is my 87th bike in my riding career). I do believe that the Ryker will be my favorite commuting and light-duty sport-touring companion... AFTER I fix the alignment. ;-) --QM

One reason they want things on the throttle side is because it is illegal to mess with your phone or any device while driving any vehicle

That part is the BRP Smartphone Holder ($79.99): can-am.brp.com/on-road/shop/ryker-accessories/electronic-accessories/gps-mounts/smartphone-holder.html The bracket piece is specific to the Can-Am, so it has the relief area for the handlebar cable, and it has a standard 1" RAM ball mount on top. The arm and X-Grip are RAM pieces. I haven't been able to find just the BRP bracket separately yet, so I'll probably purchase a second kit just to have another mount on the right side of the bars as well. --QM

Very good video, we use the SMH 10 headsets. How do you like the top mount case? We just want a tad extra storage on my wife's Ryker Rally. She loves her bike, not really many good storage options for my Ninja. So we are thinking about the top mount to carry like a drink or two and like wallets, etc. Just curious if it would be good for that.
Thanks for the feedback! The top case in this video didn't work for me, so I gave it to a member of the Red Dirt Rykers group just a few months later. It would work OK to hold small items (e.g. water bottles, gloves, light rain gear, etc), but the top opening is smaller than the bag's width... that makes it difficult to get some items into the bag. Can-Am now has a MAX-mount adapter plate that allows you to strap whatever you want onto the back of the Ryker: can-am.brp.com/on-road/us/en/shop/ryker-accessories/cargo-storage/cargo-bags-accessories/ryker-linq-rack.html . It isn't cheap at $199 (and you must already have or purchase the MAX mount), but it allows a greater range of luggage to be strapped onto the back of the bike. Cheers! 👍 --QM

Thx for the feedback! The windscreen installs in about 3 minutes... it's very simple. The shield was in about the middle position in this video.

I'm sure the Ryker is a blast, but I like my F3S Roadster much better. I would keep the Ryker stripped down. Wish mine was shaft drive. I've also got a Honda VTX 1800 for two wheel needs. Can Am makes an amazing machine. Buy one.
Yessir... I agree! These are fun machines for sure. I have ridden the F3S, but I wanted something smaller and more nimble. I have plenty of other bikes for the 2-wheel cravings and long highway chores. I typically ride my Ryker around with minimal attachments/add-ons, but some kind of storage is a necessity for me in commuting duties. --QM

@@munkeenevahrong239 If you like your F3S, then you'll really love the Ryker 900 (or Rally) for its point-and-shoot capabilities. You don't need to shift or think about anything except steering, leaning, and throttle... just point and shoot over and over again. For that reason, I've dubbed my Rally as the "Urban Missile". I would suggest investing in the upgraded BRP swaybar (or an aftermarket unit) to stiffen the front end... it had too much body roll and front-end skitter over rough pavement in its original form... IMHO. The traction control always kicked in while cornering... even at modest speeds with the original swaybar.
I am editing and posting a few commute and run around videos now that show how easy it is to fishtail and throttle steer the tail around corners (need to be in Sport or Rally mode for that fun, otherwise the traction nanny steps in and kills the fun). I'm getting a little more rowdy with it now that it's out of the break-in period. --QM

Thanks! The name originated with my Yamaha XT250 when I put street tires on it for commuting. "Motard" is a French slang word for "biker", and it's also a class of motorcycle racing where dirt bikes are setup to run combination pavement and dirt courses (super motard). My XT250 was nearly a super motard, but the front wheel is a larger 21" instead of a 17". So... almost (quasi) a motard... QuasiMotard! 😉👍 --QM

Agreed! When I don't need to haul anything with me, I strip the tail bag and pannier (leave just the tank bag), so it's back to "naked" again. It's more visceral looking without the accessories. --QM
I have had my ryker for 2 months. What size windshield do you use and does it help with wind buffer on your helmet. I'm 5'7. Really enjoy your videos.
Thx for the feedback! I have upgraded my Ryker's windscreen to the MadStad Engineering 18" light gray (madstad.com/collections/can-am/products/can-am-ryker-2019). I can't say enough good things about the MadStad gear... it's worth EVERY PENNY! You and I are about the same height, so I would recommend getting the 20" instead of the 18"... I was in the middle and opted for the shorter screen, but in hindsight should have gone for the 20" instead. This is the first video I've seen of yours. It's good. Your camera work is clear and you speak/explain clearly. I rode a Honda Rebel 500 for a short time, but never really felt very comfortable so I'm now looking at a three-wheel option. It will definitely be a Can Am, but was considering a Spyder or a Ryker. The Ryker, due to cost and looks, seems to be a great place to focus my research, and the Rally definitely caught my eye, especially after watching your video. The one concern I have is the "tail wag" issue on the highway. How concerning is that for a relatively new rider? I plan to use my Ryker for commuting with some highway driving, but as I get used to the bike and ride more often, I estimate that highway driving will be extended. Any advice?
Hello, and thx for the feedback! My first bit of advice, regarding the handling issues that I've had with my Rally, is that you might want to consider the 900 ACE (non-Rally) instead of the Rally Edition. The Rally has better suspension, a slightly higher ride height (about 1" higher), and the MAX Mount already installed. However, you can add those accessories and upgrades to the 900 ACE and arrive at about the same price... the difference would be in retaining the street-oriented wheels and tires of the non-Rally model. The handling problem with the Rally seems to be related to the tire tread (all-season tread instead of "normal" street tread) and possibly the increased ride height. I have ridden three other Rykers (600 ACE and two 900 ACE's) that didn't exhibit the tail-wag or high-speed wandering as badly as my Rally does. Several other Rally owners in the forums have mentioned similar issues, and they have tried many of the same remediations that I have (e.g. ROLO laser alignment, suspension adjustments, etc). Owners of the non-Rally bikes don't seem to have as pronounced of a problem... but all Ryker's tend to wander or be pulled by off-camber surfaces to some extent.
I have become accustomed to the tail-wag and bad road manners of my Rally, so I know what to expect when I ride it. Having acknowledged those issues, I need to be in the right frame of mind to ride it and NOT get annoyed. The wandering/darting around is manageable, but you have to really focus and fight the bike to stay in a single traffic lane... ALL THE TIME... no relaxing to enjoy the ride on this beast. If I'm planning to bomb around town or terrorize traffic a bit, then I'll take the Ryker for my trip. Similarly, if the weather is rainy or if I don't plan to ride over 60-ish mph, then the Ryker is a better steed because of the 3-wheel stability, ABS, TC, etc. Otherwise, I will typically grab one of my other bikes for high-speed highway work or long-distance trips.
I have taken one long road trip to OKC and back (~1600 miles total), and it was a handful most of the time. I kept thinking that I'd much rather have taken one of my other bikes instead of the Ryker, so I could relax a bit... unfortunately timing/planning wasn't on my side for that trip: czcams.com/video/4svS7v4il9o/video.html . @@locumClown Thanks for the feedback! I've taken my Ryker on several 2000+ mile road trips, but it's never a relaxing ride. The Ryker's stability and the advanced rider aids are great. However, it's a very physical machine that demands constant input to maintain trajectory... I can never sit back to relax and enjoy the ride. That makes long road trips very tiring both physically and mentally.
The new 2022 Ryker's have an optional electronic cruise control that should help on the long highway slogs. The newer models have probably also addressed some of the handling quirks that my Ryker has always suffered with.
However, the Ryker's short wheelbase and full-manual steering (think of go-kart steering) will never be in the "touring class" like the Spyder F3 or RT. The Spyder models are heavier, and they have power-assisted rack and pinion steering. This makes them much easier to handle and more stable on the highway. The Ryker is more of a naked bruiser and short distance machine, but it can be pressed into touring duty if your stamina and patience permits. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

They sent a allen screw with your case to make it theft proof, it goes through the release handle.
Yeah, thx! I saw that in the review that Pauls.Adventure made. My case was missing that little gem, nothing included in my box. Even if the set screw was included, I don't see how you're supposed to screw it in from the top... there is only about 0.25" of clearance there. That would also make it very difficult to mount/dismount. A keyed tumbler would have made things much simpler. I'll figure out a hack for mine eventually, but I'll most likely build a mounting/adapter plate to let me use any other top case (or lash down a drybag, etc). --QM

If I don't like something for my uses/requirements, then I'll certainly spell it out. dont get none of that shit. If you want all that gear get the spyder. the ryker is sporty. Light and bulk free.
I’ve watched a few of your videos now, would you say the Ryker Rally Edition is a good bike for beginners?
Hello, and thx for the feedback! I like the Ryker and think it would be a good beginner bike. However, based on my experiences with my Rally edition, I would advise new riders/owners to go for the 900 ACE (non-Rally) because it seems to have less of the "tail wag" and wandering at freeway speeds. This is most likely due to the different tire tread pattern and the lower ride height. If you intend to add the MAX mount and/or passenger seat options, then you might also want to opt for the upgraded suspension (or at least the heavier rear spring) and upgraded sway bar to improve the Ryker's handling. --QM

I ended up getting the Max mount and top Link storage bag, instead of the side Shad bag and mount.
Just didn’t like the Shad bag covering that beautiful wheel.

How bad is the vibration on the handlebars? Does it make your hands go numb?
The 900 triple is actually very smooth anywhere above idle. The engine is very "lumpy" at idle and vibrates the handlebars and seat quite a bit... but anywhere above idle or moving along seems smooth to me. My riding gloves have padded palms, but I don't notice any more vibration on the Ryker while riding vs my other street bikes. --QM
Is there a mounting bar that would be on the left side for the left pannier?
Not yet... Can-Am/BRP has only released a bracket for the right side pannier. I think the reasoning is that the swing arm would be in the way and/or the mount would need to hang much further away from the bike than the one on the right currently sits (in order to clear the swingarm). I'm sure that someone in the aftermarket community will create a symmetric mounting solution for the SHAD 3P system (or other panniers). --QM

I forgot to ask... for cold weather riding, is there an electric port to plug in a warm-weather riding suit?
There aren't any 12V accessory sockets on the Ryker, but you can certainly add one from the aftermarket (e.g. SlingMods.com, Revzilla.com, etc). The Ryker's charging system has decent output (400 watts), so you could run a heated vest or similar items from it... but I wouldn't advise drawing more than ~150 watts just to keep a safe margin for bike operation and battery charging. It would also be a good idea to install a small battery charge/voltage meter somewhere to know how the charging system is doing, if you're planning to use heated gear for long periods of time. It's no fun to stop somewhere for fuel and the bike won't start because of overload/drain from you accessories... ask me know I know. 😉 --QM
How hard was it to install the windshield? I cant find any vids of someone installing it.
It's very easy to do, and should only take about 10-15 minutes to complete. I recorded all of the accessory installs, but my GoPro was hungry and ate the footage. The only two things to keep in mind before starting the install are these: (1) get two extra spacer washers if they aren't already included with your shield; and (2) tension the adjustment lever bolt before mounting the screen. You could get 4 extra stainless washers to act as buffer pads between the mounting bolts and the plastic shield/bracket. Also, don't forget to put thread lock on the bolts... I'm sure that the mount would vibrate loose without it... the 900 motor vibrates a lot, and all of the road vibration coming through the bars will certainly take a toll over time. --QM

Okay I forgot to ask what is the red knob for?
The red knob on the rear shock? That's the compression damping adjuster for the shock. The Rally model is the only one that has it to my understanding. The upgraded FOX shocks are available, but their adjustments are different (no red knob). --QM
What mount did you use to hold your camera?
I used the GoPro Chesty mount for this video. It is a basic chest mount, but it works well with the GoPro Hero 7 Black's motion stabilization. Cheers! 👍 --QM
I recommend everybody that owns this bike go buy yourself a 65 mm socket with a torque 🔧. 99.9% of mechanics do not have this in their shop you get a flat tire you're screwed! Amazon best price! Okay now back to the program 😁
Agreed! I haven't added that tool to my arsenal yet, but it's coming soon... along with a shop manual. If you have a tire issue on the Ryker, then you'll certainly be towing it to a shop on a flatbed wrecker/trailer. The next problem/question is whether that shop's tire tools will work with the Ryker's wheels (assuming that they have the giant socket and torque wrench that goes up to 221 lb/ft). Will a normal automatic tire changer (e.g. Hunter, Corghi, etc) work on these rims ? I have road-hazard protection through AAA and Geico, so I'll be covered for the event... just not sure if I can find a Can-Am service center if I'm out touring somewhere. 👍 --QM
Are Rykers prone to flat tires? Also do spyders take the same rare to find socket/ if the ryker is prone to flat tires, are spyders as well? I'm having a really hard time choosing between a Ryker and a spyder, if you take your time to answer me I'd really appreciate it

I don't think that Can-Am/BRP will make a symmetrical rack... that will be up to the aftermarket. It would be nice to see some alternative panniers, too... maybe some universal mounting plates on the sides for trekker-style boxes. --QM
i'd settle for some over the seat leather bags even. maybe something that would fit under the passenger seat mount.

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in an Otterbox Commuter case... too big for the front pocket of the tank bag. I was putting it into the inner mesh pocket until I installed the X-Grip mount. My phone is already waterproof, and it's in the water-resistant case, so being out in the elements isn't a concern for me... other owners with sensitive phones might need to keep theirs in the tank bag. --QM

It really comes down to your preferences and two critical factors: the choice of wheels (appearance) and the Rally Mode (a.k.a. Hooligan Mode). The Rally comes with the more "robust" wheels and tires and includes the MAX Mount. The Rally also comes with the upgraded/adjustable shock absorbers.
If you plan to upgrade a 900 with the MAX mount and shocks, then it's better to go for the Rally instead because you'll save some money. That just leaves the wheel appearance... personally, I prefer the non-Rally wheels, but it didn't make sense for me to upgrade all of the other bits on the 900 AND LOSE "Rally Mode". So, I went for the Rally... I'll figure out the wheels later. ;-) --QM

@@greekfreak1987 Yeah, then I'd go for the Rally edition. The wheels were my only sticking point. The 600/900 wheels look more sports car than off-roader. I might get the non-Rally wheels eventually, but these are starting to grow on me.
From what I have seen, the Rally model has a number of differences (seat, topcase mount, handguards, etc.); if you want a few of them you'll be money ahead to spring for the Rally. OTOH, I have heard that the "off-road" tires on the Rally are not as sticky and don't corner as well as the base model.
I test rode the base 900 this weekend and really liked it. The roll-on acceleration was amazing.
@@marvin6160 Yeah, that's the downside to the Rally... the all-season tires with their squishy tread pattern. I prefer the non-Rally wheels (and 16" rear) just because they look more sports car than the wanna-be off-road. The Rally has the better suspension (adjustable), the MAX mount, and the Rally mode (disable rear traction control)... that's why I decided on this one. I still might buy the non-Rally wheels and rear fender (full coverage) for mine... not sure yet. --QM

No, unfortunately the mount is only available for the right side. Maybe the aftermarket will create a solution for a bilateral/symmetrical mount. The lopsided appearance was odd to me at first, but now I'm accustomed to it and it doesn't bother me too much. I do wish that the left pannier was there for additional storage, though! Do you like the windshield? Does it help?
The BRP/Can-Am Sport Windshield is decent, and I used it for about 8 months on my bike. It only provided limited coverage and there seemed to be a lot of dirty spillover on the top corners that caused some noise and buffeting. I have since replaced it with the MadStad Engineering adjustable windshield : madstad.com/collections/can-am/products/can-am-ryker-2019 . The MadStad is a much better unit and provides excellent coverage compared to the BRP unit. Another nice feature of the MadStad is that it has quick-detach mounting spools, so you can take it off of the bike in under 5 seconds if/when you want to ride "naked" again. I ordered the 18" light gray, but I would recommend going up to the next size if you are in-between sizes... I probably should have purchased the 20" to allow a bit more height. Will the side SHAD case hold a 15" laptop?
Howdy, Darrin! Yes, the SHAD SH36 case will easily hold a 15" laptop, but I recommend using a thin laptop bag or the SHAD inner bag to protect it while in motion. I've been able to stuff a 15" laptop in diagonally (laptop tipped outward at the bottom, in at the top) and that leaves plenty of room for the other accessories (e.g., laptop charger, cables, etc) and my rain gear in the side case with room to spare. I agree, the SHAD SH36 is a little spendy. I already owned that set for my other bikes, so it was no problem to just swap it over. I don't think that SHAD makes any other compatible panniers for the 3P mount right now. I have another set of SH23's on my Honda CB500X, but they require a different end cap with a locking tab to hold the pannier. It's not a straight swap with the SH36's... I have to change the end cap of the 3P mount/bar to switch between them.
Hopefully, the aftermarket community will come up with a symmetrical or bilateral mount for the Ryker. It should be possible to do... the left side just needs to sit out further to clear the swingarm... both sides a little bit wider to make it symmetrical. I think Can-Am may have placed the pannier close to the bike so the box isn't sitting in the debris zone from the right front wheel. --QM

The only forum that I have visited is SypderLover's ( www.spyderlovers.com ). There are a few other forums that people have mentioned, including Facebook, but I haven't looked around in a while. I'll try to compile a list and reply back to you again. FYI... I was MS-13 gang-jumped into the SpyderLovers forum because of my first Ryker video (the gearbox oil check, warranty documentation video). So, I wouldn't necessarily consider that a friendly forum for Rykers... the folks over there are a different breed. I found out about the chaos over there and dropped in just to set the record straight... I haven't been back much after that. --QM
SO.. how well does the windscreen work?
I'm actually very impressed with it. It's small, but it does a very good job of pushing most of the wind blast around my chest and shoulders. I haven't raised it to the top position to see how well it clears the top of the helmet, but I don't mind having the helmet in clear air as long as there's no turbulence.

@@freespace303 There is some buffeting when the screen is in the lower position, but it works well for me in the mid or high positions. I don't have any other screen for the Ryker to make a comparison, but I can certainly say that it's better than NOT having a screen at all. The OEM sport windshield does a very good job of reducing (eliminating) the wind pressure on the rider's chest, so you don't feel like you're fighting just to hang on above 60 mph. The smaller gauge spoiler (comes with the Rally edition) helps break up the chest pressure a bit, but it leaves your shoulders and helmet unprotected... the sport windshield fixes that for sure. I plan to purchase an aftermarket screen for comparison whenever there are more choices available. --QM
How much does the other plastics rattle?
It has plenty of rattles and noises... if it's not permanently attached (e.g. nailed down with a bolt or screw), then it rattles or buzzes. I learned early that the fit and finish of the Ryker isn't nearly as good as any of the Japanese bikes that I've owned. The Ryker is a new model, so I'm sure that BRP will have a huge list of revisions and improvements for the next production model. --QM

Good question! I have a Schuberth C3 Pro XXL and it barely fits in the SHAD SH36 case. Unfortunately, I also have my GoPro mount and Cardo PackTalk mounted in the helmet, so it's just a bit too big to fit because if the extra width. --QM

Not yet. Can-Am has only released a mount for the right side. Maybe the aftermarket will come up with a symmetrical mount or a different bag system that attaches to the Max Mount behind the rider's seat. --QM

I thought that the single pannier might be a problem for me, but it has really been a non-issue (aside from the odd, asymmetrical look). I now have the passenger seat option on the back of the Ryker (that little top case is a joke, btw), and I just strap my DrySpec D38 dry bag on the back seat. Yep, I plan to make an adapter plate for the MAX mount and then mount a Givi or SHAD top case instead. The MAX mount isn't very long or wide right now, so the adapter plate will give more real-estate to mount/strap whatever I want on there. --QM

Thx! I saw Paul's video a couple of days ago. My bag was missing that set screw. I'm not sure how you're supposed to screw that little guy in... there is no clearance above the lever because of the bag itself. If you are able to put that in, then it certainly wouldn't be an easy affair to unmount it to replace with the passenger seat. A key lock would be the obvious solution. It's still an oversight in my opinion... but I'll figure out a solution for it and post an update. --QM
I'd like to see a locking compartment for papers and registration at least, and a locking gas cap. Apparently the European bikes come with a locking park brake lever, can be fitted to the US spec bikes and costs about $25. Mine will get that right away.

I wish you didn't tell people how easy it is to steal those cases off the Ryker cause I want one. So hopefully this video doesn't give people ideas from your video that's a thief. LOL 😂. I just won't pack expensive stuff in it. LOL 😂. I would actually see about suggesting the accessories department to make better custom theft protection for those compartments. But I would just take all those things off. I live in a area close to theft.
The tail bag is the one that I wish had some kind of theft deterrent... not necessarily for the contents, but definitely for the bag itself. The passenger seat accessory is a similar affair... no lock, just a quick-release button and bye-bye goes your $500+ passenger seat. The SHAD side case does have an integrated lock that secures the lid and the locking mechanism to the mounting rail... so, at least that's one relatively secure place to store things when you leave the bike unattended. --QM

Agreed. The LinQ top case is really only good as a backrest that can hold a rainsuit and/or a few bottles of water. I am slowly becoming acclimated to the asymmetric look of the single bag, but I would prefer a balanced look. Maybe some of the aftermarket will come up with a solution for the left bag/mount. I take the bags off of it (except the tank bag) when I'm just running around town and don't need to commute with it. If I can get my MAX mount adapter plate fabricated, then my luggage situation will be permanently solved... I'll just use the side bag for road trips. --QM
