We think that the basic version of Golf GTI with a manual transmission is the best choice for the price/performance ratio from VW. The Clubsport version will not bring that much anything extra for circuit driving except for more durable brakes, and it will not offer as good an experience on the circuit as, for example, the latest specification of the Hyundai i30 N. The more expensive Golf R with all-wheel drive should be your choice if you are after some fun snow driving. It actually uses the same all-wheel drive system as the new Audi RS3! - Sport
Capable but too safe. More aggressive alignment would make it better. Nice to see that e-diff has enough bite to make it oversteer, that's not something you see very often :)

Perhaps an alignment but otherwise stock given the oversteering nature of the car. I don’t think they come from the factory set up like that but who knows

It will always be the standard for FWD hot-hatches against all else should be measured. Wonderful balance of fun and performance, maybe a touch sterile these days, but still up there

They have so much potential for modding. Just a stage 1 tune gives it nearly 100 more hp.

@@youtuber-cc8sx -only from first to second in my experience. Switching the shifter bushings from rubber to aluminium can help with this.

- i am only 1,74 so the position is good enough. Seating lower looks also very dumb with the very high interior.
-for the infotainment chekc out "teyes cc3 2k" I ordered it half a year ago but did not have time to install it. But from what i have seen and heard it is an amazing system. No more annoying connection issues with android auto

DSG is a fantastic transmission. But a hot hatch with a 6 speed is so much more fun 😂

How do you get this to lift off oversteer? My latest gen polo gti wont let me even with esc sport and dsc off. Is it just differences in stability control modes or the lsd or combo of both?
Does it let you turn ESC all the way off on the 8? I have a 7.5 and the best I can get is "ESC Sport" but that doesn't let me oversteer, as soon as I get the tail out with load transfer it applies brakes individually to immediately stop the slide. Here you managed to make it go sideways nicely

The GTI has always been a good balance of fun and practicality. Other than the Civic Type R it's probably one of the best FWD platforms out there. However, the latest generation's user experience is horrible It's like VW forgot all about the fact that many people daily drive their GTI and want the radio, AC, and heated seat controls to be easy to use when they are just going to work.
yeah the all capacitive controls are horrific, I genuinely am interested in buying a GTI but I'm holding out for them to go back on that, I cannot bear with that

Golf gti is a great daily car but awful, boring, poor handling by hot hatch standards.
Only people swearing by golfs are those who really don't drive or haven't tried a good hot hatch. Seen ep3 type r convert plenty of vag fanboys and doing track convince plenty of golf owners the car is absolutely not suitable for track

Seems a bit loose on the front are they just too heavy now or just too much power the front wheels can’t handle the corner and the power at the same time

Right? It's kinda fast but has very boring handling. You really need to provoke it to get some lift-off oversteer. My 2010s shitbox is more fun at half the speed.
