- While we normally focus on battlemaps, we're taking on something different today: World, Regional and Continental Maps built right in Foundry Virtual Tabletop! If you don't have a familiarity with a more "birdseye view" mapmaking software, or skill at creating my maps by hand, building out the larger scale maps of your world can be a daunting process. Even if you are a Wonderdraft wizard, sometimes you've just gotta make a map *fast*! We've found some phenomenal tools and techniques that make creating these larger scale maps super easy and incredibly satisfying. This is kind of a whirlwind tour of modules with Aedif's Mass Edit module and dev7355608's Advanced Drawing Tools module taking center stage. Check out the timestamps for all of the module and technique combinations that we explore!
All of this crazy experimentation was very fun for us, but we want to know what you think. Did this inspire you to incorporate any of these modules or techniques into your own prep? Is this a solution looking for a problem? Should we add resources to our modules to support any or all of these techniques? Let us know in the comments or in our discord!

I would like a demo of the completed product from the player perspective - visually, yes, this is very cool, but I am too casual of a DM to watch a very thorough how-to when I mostly run modules that have pre-built foundry campaigns. I'd love to see the completed products without the how-to and a lot of jumping, basically.
Very interested in a wonderdraft tutorial as i love your explanation style! Keep up the good work guys!
Hi! Atypikk Mazenc here! Great tutorial! Honestly, I didn't know that the asset packs I created could be used on FoundryVTT (I only knew the site/software by name). In any case, the outcome looks fantastic on FoundryVTT. And thank you for your support !
Great work. And nice to meet you. It's quite satisfying using all those great assets of yours!
Hey, I would like to include the handful of assets we used for the demo scene in my Foundry module, just so people can come in and play with the test scene themselves. Are you ok with that? It would mean exposing those particular images as tiles (but only the ones actually used in the test scene). We can include a link to your website or Cartography assets if they'd like to get the complete set at that point. Let me know!
Thank you !@@Baileywiki
Yes, no problem, I'm OK with that. I would greatly appreciate it if you could include a link to my personal online shop, Fantasy Map Assets.@@Baileywiki
Will do. Are you on discord? If so, send me a link there

The only problem with using big maps is the load time for players. I want something like Google maps, where there's LoD levels as you zoom in and out so that loading can be broken up into pieces dynamically.
I've tried doing the entirety of castle Strahd on a single map using levels, and right now there's a huge cost when there are lots of walls and doors, but it'd be even cooler if you could just zoom into a town view from the region view, and zoom into a structure view from the town view.
I want more map icons.
Jaysus. That would take ages building within foundry. Something like Inkarnate is far faster to build these kind of maps for. Foundry is amazing for a lot of things, but large scale mapping isn't it.
You and I know that, but this is really introducing concepts for someone who doesn't want to use another piece of software for making overland maps. I tried it myself. Once you have the tools in place, this is WAY faster than Wonderdraft or Incarnate, and because it's in Foundry, you can make changes on the fly. Reveal the Dwarven Kingdom. Drop in that little coastal village you didn't plan on players visiting.
Oh, and you can design in another software and STILL use these techniques to modify after the fact.
