- I bought another Saab!
Geoff Buys Cars is an automotive adventure through old cars. I buy cars to review for CZcams, then sell them on. Sometimes I make a profit and document the journey, sometimes I give them away in £10 ‘Geoff Specials’. It started with a canoe and it’s taken every possible diversion, but i’ll get to that Porsche eventually… Right now I’m just enjoying all these old cars, it’s gotten to be a bit like Pokemon. Gotta catch ‘em all! Seen a potential Geoff car? Get in touch, I’ll buy it.

Hi Jeff, I know its almost a year later, but I sincerely hope you kept the car. I have the exact same model . Same color and interior and wheels. Mine is the 205 HP version. I LOVE IT! I made some key repairs when I got it: cleaned the oil pan and oil seive (very important otherwise oil sludge will kill your engine suddenly) and at the same time it is a good idea to put in new crankshaft bearings when you have the oil pan off, added the after-market crankcase ventilation kit (only 70 quid) which helps prevent oil sludging too, replaced the iginition cassette (about 300 quid), 5th gear was shot so had to replace that (previous owner was stupid enough to take a steep hill in 5th gear -- I despair!). Now, at 225K kilometers the head gasket needs to be renewed. Expensive but for a 20 year old car with 225K kilometers, normal. The car is an absolute blast to drive. Last year, made a 3000 kilometer trip with the a 1300KG trailer and boat behind me in mid-August without a speck of trouble. even with 17 hours driving on one day! No trouble at all! Add to that, 35 miles per gallon highway with boat! These cars require a bit of owner knowledge, but there are clubs all over. The cars require you to keep up with repairs and maintenance. (Your mechanic will love you and be able to buy his wife a fur coat.) But, what you get in return is gold! I drive it all year, top down in winter too (if below 5° you have to warm the car in the sun first for about 30 mins or you'll pop the top hydraulics.) Despite the above mentioned repairs (to be expected when you buy it second hand), it has never left me stranded and always warned me gently when trouble is brewing. I love it. You really should get one and keep it for yourself! All the best!
Great review buddy... looks lovely!
Two days ago, outside of San Francisco, California, I just bought the EXACT same car, in very good condition, for $2,000. Silver 2001 convertible with 105,000 miles. It's great--fast, fuel-efficient, and it looks classy. The original purchase price was $42,000-- a lot of money 23 years ago.
I had to laugh at "I've really got to stop buying cars for the channel that are better than the one I have."
What a stunning Looking Saab, testement to its previous owner.
Keep it!!!
What did you do with it. I love those cars
Gave it away for £10 in a raffle on my Facebook. it now lives in Southern Spain!
@@GeoffBuysCars !!👀 I shouldn’t complain, but that’s nicer than mine which I paid £650 for. And I don’t do farsebook anymore.
