Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center, Izmir
My deepest thanks to everybody in the orchestra- who didn't leave me alone all the time and did their best, and the venue's administration, for helping us realizing this concert.
Special thanks to the team;
Feyza Nur Sağlıksever, for the management, and sharing the load with me,
Arda Keremoğlu, who I haven't met him before the concert and didn't let down my belief that he could play flawless,
Fulya Kılıçtaş & Ece Kılıçaslan, for their help in organisation,
Tamer Tarhan, accomodation and for assistive conducting of the strings,
Doğa Saçılık & Ali Can Öztan, who also participated in 2009's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence,
Yiğitcan "Vai" Kesendere & Ezgi Selin Akdemir for the cheer,
Volkan Turgut, for photography & video conducting,
and Jordan Rudess & Dream Theater, for the music & inspiration. - Hudba
For those of you who don't know, the arranger of this cover (Eren Başbuğ) was invited by Dream Theater to conduct and arrange the string sections of False Awakening Suite and Illumination Theory from the new album. I'd say that's pretty awesome of the guys to acknowledge this kind of stuff.
That's just even more respect unto Dream Theater
Game recognize game, I dig it
Excelent
i love how every one is dressed really uptight and there's the violinist wearing a dream theater t-shirt
And don´t forget the leather pants xD
I noticed that too. I love it
Something tells me that this was his idea
Considering Rudess uses a full length fingerboard which is around 5ft long, and this guy used a 10" iPad, he had to keep pressing buttons to change octaves, gotta give him more credit!
He is using the MorphWiz app that Jordan created along with Kevin Chartier.
You the real MVP, girl in the audience singing along.
i love her
@@MarioGarcia-lq3wu me too...somehow :')
And that one is my sister, who is a famous actress in Turkey now. :) -> Açelya Özcan :) Best,
the main melody of this song is one of the best and most emotional melodies in music history
Totally agree with you!
agreed. this song is an absolute masterpiece that will never be as appreciated as it should.
Which one? lol
@@pascalg16 the last one is the best
@@pezekz5700 Yeah, the solo
The girl singing along in the audience is the real MVP
I'm typing with my feet, because my hands don't stop applauding.

Me too, I asdi23438rf c8d9sjion ud k j!!
+GuitarWholesale lol
:)
Lmao
I was in this concert with my family, in Izmir, Turkey, approx. 10 years ago. Luckily one of my friends informed me about this concert, I did not pay attention at first, then I noticed that the band was going to play one of the most widely known songs from Dream Theater, at this moment everything has changed. The concert was extremely excellent in total, I consider myself so lucky to listen to this unbelievable band playing this amazing song with my own ears! Including Eren Basbug, who is such a talented man, all other players played their parts wonderful. This concert, especially this song, was an excellent one took place in Izmir. I will never forget this experience!
That's must unforgettable moment for you Brother!
@@pejalanlowbudget9930 Yeah definitely it was!
The Turkish people manage to synthesise the best of western and eastern musical traditions. I love this country!
Somebody give the poor drummer a raise. Ali my man you killed it.
15:30 : The girl in the back left saying "full - cir - CLE"! :-D
at 17:59 you can see the drummer struggling to keep his shit together and not doing some Portnoy showman shit
you can see the frustration
Hahahaha
20:36 Piano guy is singing the lyrics out loud, you can clearly hear "THIS" hahahaha i loved this!!
Sharpy William Trapped inside THIS OCTAVARIUM!!!!
because he is trapped too in THIS OCTAVARIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM (labrie's screaming)
In a past video i read a comment that saying: "now we study mozart and vivaldi but in the future we'll study dream theater"
now i see.. we are in the future!
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Lyrics:
(20:36) this
End lyrics notation.
did anyone realize that he IS THE ONE who conducts the Breaking The Fourth Wall dvd live album?
Yes
lmao Loo
Ülkemizden böyle müzisyenler çıkması..
Turkiyede muzisyen konusunda problem yok. Problem dinleyicide..
:D
It's amazing how well this holds up without vocals.
+1
Harbiden helal olsun adama
@ hocam 16 lı denemenin son2 si çok zor olmuş :D
@ hocam nasılsınız :D nasıl buldum burda sizi 😂
And now the conductor/pianist is working with Jordan and the rest of DT!
seriously? cool
I did not know so i searched ; czcams.com/video/j2ZC_vOwubA/video.html
Exactly, right. He is a Turkish guy, who has en extreme talent.
I was in here,i heard every single note so clear....What a wonderfull Cover...
Impressive cover with great musicianship. Very well done!
The drummer is not playing too loudly. He does an admirable job of playing quiet. They should have used some plexiglass baffles in front of his set to dampen the volume. Then he wouldn't have to use such a soft touch.
I wouldn't let sound-level issues overshadow this moving performance. Bravo!
Yes, He ( Eren) knew this but unfortunately He did not have enough monetary or logistic support for this performance.
9:10 - 9:25
The lady on the left :D
+Ardanwen she's doing the same with me. lol
true fan exposed right there
OMG! it's me. This'is unbelievable! I was there! It was magical moment. A lot of time has passed. Eren, you're such a great musician.
Oh how I wish I was there to witness such amounts of talent on stage. Where was this?
Somewhere in Turkey. Ankara, maybe? Eren Başbuğ - the pianist and arranger - did this at when he was at music school, with an orchestra of friends.
20:35 "This"
I am beyond speechless. There was not a single mistake or slip-up to notice, and I know the original Octavarium by heart. Amazing job!
at 14:33 the woman in the audience, left bottom corner, clearly know what's up
she knows this song
she's like "fuck yeah" but internally
Incredbile. Dream Theater needs to check this out! Also, the drummer nailed the rhythm at 9:30
Considering this guy was the composer for the Boston Opera House shows this year I take it they are already well familiar with this. :)
@@Nightwishmaster They recognized him after this video.
20:50 onward until the end always gives me goosebumps, probably one of the most powerful and emotional melody & orchestral arrangements I've ever listened
Razors edge is a perfect segment to really bring the song home, especially after the intensity of Intervals
When they whisper 'this', gives me chills!
I feel bad for the drummer, he's playing this amazing song and he has to hit so lightly ;)
As a HUGE Mike Portnoy era Dream Theater fan I FULLY approve of this song! All talented and homie on the Piano is PHENOMENAL
Wow I really love the utilization of the iPad as an instrument. it really does sound amazing the way it is being used, and shows in a beautiful way how technology can come together with traditional methods of doing things to create something stunning and beautiful (to be blatantly redundant in using the same word twice). The sound really got me thinking of a possible instrument that could be created. a mix between a trombone and a flute, making a slide flute might pave the way for some new and cool music effects in orchestral pieces around the world.
I'm pretty sure Jordan Rudess himself developed the app the conductor's using.
Lucas Ramos he did, caled morphwizz made by him and he has done some more scice, even for and now \m/
Lucas Ramos I remember watching a video where Jordan mentions having made an app like that. :)
The iPad is imitating a synthesizer and you can literally do everything you've said and more, not only by editing or combining sounds but also creating them from scratch. The world of synthesis is very interesting, you should take a look at it.
I hope that in these last 6 years you have already taken a look at it :D
drummer absolutely killed it
Türkiyede senin gibileri görmek çok mutluluk veriyor insana
The pianist should’ve done the note at the beginning of The Root of All Evil at the very end of the song, just like at the end of octavarium in the original
fell in love with the girl in the back (bottom left) roughly at 9:15 who sings all the way long :D
an orchestra concert and people are headbanging. life is worth it
Tebrikler binlerce kere.
How does this not have a million views?
If views equaled quality, that would be an ideal world.
it is on its way
this comment is soon to reach the octavarium
Coz this is not a "Catchy" song
Four years later. it soon does! :-D

ONE OF THE BEST 25 MINUTES OF MY LIFE!!!
GREAT PERFORMANCE!
The girl at 9:15 in the left corner singing the lyrics gives me joy!
12 years later, I still cry every single time
dream theater version was wild, but this orchestra is very beautiful and majestic. glad to hear, if they become part of the Dream Theater's album
Adam yardırmış başka bişey diyemiyorum. Tek cümleyle helal olsun hakkındır fazla fazla.
Octavarium is absolutely my favorite song and this is a great reproduction of it. Cheers!
The masterpiece of ALL the covers
That melody in the beginning on flute is so king crimsonish, I remember when I first heard octavarium I felt the same way. but really the sonorities of this song really come out in a full orchestra form like this. truly awesome.
Omg this is so beautiful. A part of me is sad at the missed opportunity to have the flute player finish the song like in the leaked version of Octavarium.
This symphony showed how good DT are, expecially this particular song. Best progressive band actually in the world.
Wonderful version !!! Please makes another one !!!
what did you expect from the drummer !!! he plays very well on a Philharmonic orchestra !!!! if you want he can makes more noise than Portnoy !!! i'm not sure that this is the right thing to do in a Philharmonic orchestra !!!!
Please don't change anything, it's so amazing....
That transition into full circle hit hard such a spectacular performance
Brings tears to my eyes...amazing!
During the song I was wondering what they were going to do with the `Trapped inside this Octavarium´ parts...and I absolutely loved it that they just whispered "this" instead of letting an instrument play the note. Thanks for uploading! ^^
This man is doing the orchestral arrangements + conducting for Dream Theater's upcoming album. It just makes the album that much more epic.
Müthişsiniz. Usta işi, çok başarılı bir çalışma olmuş. Gurur duydum gerçekten.
I know that this is a pretty old video but man, I love how he is conducting the orchestra with his head while playing the piano. I dont know if this is before or after the "breaking the fourth wall" album, but he clearly loves the song.
Buen reto
The orchestra's playing and the mixing is a 100 times better than the SCORE DVD!
this is absolutely AMAZING
24 minutes of pure, complete and magnificent glory. Thank you so much for this. You really did the song justice.
I just gave you guys a standing ovation. Eren, you, Sir, have my utmost respect. It was an honour to have come across this video. The Dream Theater original gives me the chills. Your version gives me the chills x1000. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your talent with us. Keep the Dream alive.
Im not going to argue with you over CZcams comments, but the amount of musicians on that stage doesn't change the intricacy and tempo of the original song. It's as easy as remembering the 20 minute track and keeping a metronome with the rest of the orchestra.
the intro figerboard, the electric guitar, the drums. this could have been a brilliant interpretation.
All of them is great musician. Thank you for arrange this amazing song from DT
Has he done more of those after Octavarium? I'd love to hear an orchestral version of In The Presence of Enemies or A Change of Seasons. Or maybe A Mind Beside Itself or The Count of Tuscany.
It's been 4 years, so maybe you found it by now, but they did an encore czcams.com/video/y2FUemf9ieY/video.html
The kid playing the guitar absolutely nailed the Razor's Edge solo. Bravo.
Amazing...they didnt write it, but they felt it...I cried the first time I listened to this
11:30 is my favourite fill in the song and it's like the guy just started hitting random shit
yeah, i heard the same ... i dont know why no many people noticed it
Sure, i know every single fill in this song and i noticed it... wtf
He choked hard lmao
First of all, thank you for representing us. The work, the team, the sound and more are simply perfect. I'm sure Eren will come to very good places.
The whole song, I was waiting for LaBrie's voice. What a nice cover, such a piece of art.
I could feel (in addition to the musical genius) the powerful energy of those who participated. Amazing, this piece is unique. Thank you so much everyone
I think you guys did an amazing job, even the drummer who people often complain about. I think he actually did a great job, and helped make this song a completely new experience. Sooo cool.
One of the best DT covers on CZcams ever. Epic!!
a.ma.zing....one of my favourites from many of the epic DT suite!
incredible. So well put together. This is my favorite song, and I've always thought that this is how it should be performed.
A brilliant performance. Thank you so much for uploading this!
Wow! Amazing I could hear what sound like angels singing with all of you . I am moved by your performance .
What a DT cover !! Thanks to you all, it's wonderfull !
I'm five minutes into this and I already know I'm going to love it. Kudos for being able to pull this off, and thank you for giving an already wonderful song new life.
5:33 you can see how nervous the guy is next to all of those girls.
We all were#
Yeah, those girl were really good at blowing :)
I know right
In his mind he's like
Where's my part, i just want to get this over with,WHERE TF IS MY PART?!?!?!
But outside of his mind he's like "im chill bro"
He's about to perform. Ofc he's nervous.
Brings tears to my eyes every single time I hear. Thanks for doing this and giving us the opportunity to listen.
I always feel goosebump when i listen to this. Masterpiece
I felt sorry for the drummer who was doing his best to play softly those ghost notes and not play the hell out of this song! Got to give him a big hand!
Wonderful play
seriously incredible one of best performance all-time
This is absolutely fantastic and amazing!!
Well done! Love this to bits!
first time i ve seen this, really nice surpirise. That was an astonishing effort guys. You are trully remarkable musicians. Cheers for you from DT fans here in Greece.
That not the Astonishing
Kappa
I am willing to marry any girl who will play me the flute intro part :)
24:34 "Who's a good basoon? You're a good basoon!" as girl in bg pets her pet basoon after a job well done.
Way to ignore the Guitarist during his 1 minute to shine. I see you buddy.
Dope cover. I've listened to this 100 times now
Listening to this song while programming.... it somehow reduced my headache and rage...
Nice symphonic cover, and nice piano, too. I wanted to hear guitar solo, like a violin solo.
Amazing!!! Goosebumps all over...
Absolutely fantastic!
i'm really proud that they are all tutkish musicians
French Horn mistake at 20:28 and the girl next to him touching him saying stop at 20:32 :D . Even that way perfect job guys congrats
It's not a mistake :D It's the same as in the album
wow...speechless...simply amazing rendition...all musicians in the clip have all my respect in the world...watching and listening to stuff like this keeps my hope in humanity...thank you
This was extraordinary. I got chills, man! Octavarium totally works as an orchestral piece.
