Levi has the same issue as chomper he is introduced in a bad environment for it. This guy is advertised as an arena plant and is treated as one and the meta in arena is do as much overkill dps as you can and speed up waves for more points and levi is like the anti arena plant he was just introduced in the wrong place at the wrong time and first impressions become lasting impressions. People won't see his value unless they find where he fits. Now we need to find person who did this and fire them for killing chomper and levi

Frankly I loved the levitator as a concept, and I hope to see it in mods soon. A pure stalling plant like levitator has always been interesting to me personally.

Yeah the "usefulness" of these new plants are influenced by arena enthusiasts, it's only that I played Levitater in adventure that changed my mind.
If y'all remember Travel Log years ago, they introduced Electric Currant, Aloe & Gold Bloom as quests with 10 levels each showcasing their strengths. I believe they should introduce the new plants in that way rather than forcing it to be played in Arena.

My only issue with levitater is how when there are a lot of zombies, it's completely random on which zombie will be stalled. Other than that, it's a solid plant imo
I personally find that's a problem with a lot of good plants. The chief example among these is Iceberg Lettuce. He's an amazing plant, but if you place him on a tile with multiple zombies then nine times out of five he'll freeze the one zombie you don't need frozen.

@@puzzlemaster_6797 He's a free freeze with a decent cooldown who's easy to upgrade. He can be used to stall the whole game by freezing the beginning zombies and after level 3 can freeze zombies almost indefinitely. He's also free, and is unlocked about 3 minutes into the game.
Another massive draw back to Levitater is, if lawnmowers get activated, the zombies that are levitating aren't going to get killed making you lose the level.

@@hero-bo7qc while, yes, you shouldn't let zombies get to your movers, & that this only happends to the less skilled players, you can't just ignore the problem that movers can't kill zombies under levitater's effect. popcap added them as your last line of defence, because sometimes rng screws you over or you have to focus way more in another lane. what ea could do is release a patch that makes it so the zombies die. just because someone sucks doesn't make the problem invalid

My biggest problem with it has nothing to do with it from a game dev perspective, just why is it stylized like a Potato Mine? I know they make a joke about it in the almanac but still, you don't need every potato to be Potato Mine. Hell, there's another potato plant with largely the same name pun that isn't one in Imitater! I can agree folks are wrong about it on a mechanical level but the visual design is definitely bad.

You see, Levitater has made the grave mistake of being a balanced plant and not instantly winning every arena match, so that's why people don't like it.
(Also, it was being introduced alongside Mega Gatling Pea, arguably one of the most broken plants, which is just unfortunate.)

And theres the fact that it gets heavily outclassed by far better stalling / knockback plants which can do its job in a more controlled way

Levitator is a good plant outside of arena, the real problem is that people who have levitator have most likely already beaten the adventure where it's most useful. I personally do not have levitator but have completed his epic quest line and I think (and still do think) that he is a really cool plant, wish people gave some more love to the poor little guy
Although I view the title and thumbnail a bit reductive in the argument, I can respect most points in the video. Ultimately I still feel like it’s a waste of a potential seed slot, it’s just outclassed by many other potential options such as Stallia, Stunion (etc). Overall I believe that this fictional plant in this baby zombie game is worse than other fictional plants in this baby zombie game.

My main problem problem with Levitater is that unlike other "bad" plants (that I have) it's is the only one that have anti-synergy with many plants. I don't like how it forces you in to a specific strategy

@@handyes42 I mean that it makes other plants worse by being there like using ice melon and pepperpult together the fire damage nullify the slowness that ice melon gives. Or even worse using snow pea with torch wood. You can say "just don't use these towers together" but that is exactly what I am complaining there are too many plants that are worse thanks to levitater
@@LeonardoMartins-md9xn at my knowledge, the only plants really affected by this would be bowling bulbs, megatling pea or guacoles, which are pretty good plants but aside from those seedles i dont see any other "anti-synergies" unless you are talking about the 5 seconds of inv frames
@@handyes42 There are also both potatoes mines, shrinking violet, squash, other straight shooters (but this can be argued), Zoybean pod, blover (understandable), the lawn mower... there are other plants probably but this should be enough

i think levatator is a good plant like sapfling. but considering how OP newer plants tend to be i think its really underwhelming that it doesnt deal damage or instakills zombies. i think (even though it doesn't need it) giving it a ability to counter a specific zombie would be enough to elevate how strong it feels.
The problem is not even not doing so, that problem is you have to win 100 arena matches to get it, it's just not worth it. The whole reason why other arena plants are so unbalanced and overpowered is for it to make sense for you to have to grind for so long just to get them
Levitater would be a significantly better plant if the zombies it levitated were susceptible to Blover, Hurrikale, and Draftodil. Levitater would also be made stronger by being a Contain-mint plant instead of an Enchant-mint plant, as it would help Levitater to better synergise with other stalling plants.
Making it deal damage would make it an entirely different plant

I'll admit, as someone who's never used Levitater before and only read about it and seen a few videos, I was under the impression that Levitater was really bad, and even have discussed as such with my friends in the past. During the course of your video, however, I realized not only that it has board-wide range (thought it only affected its own lane), but that it could also be used with other stallers. I genuinely thank you for making this video, it has absolutely made me consider giving Levitater a second chance.
It’s absolutely garbage outside of being a niche pick in ADVENTURE. You can find a way to justify any plant with that logic. The majority of the actual player base and game is made for Arena. Frankly, the video poster is mostly an idiot.

I’ve always thought Levitater was a crap plant, but when you consider it for Penny’s Pursuit, it actually makes sense!
Uhh… yeah, actually. I remember playing with it and originally thinking it was shit because people SAID it was shit.
And then I discovered bonk Choy could hit levitated zombies perfectly fine. I didn’t care about too much about the premise and was new to arena so I didn’t actually unlock it, but looking back I regret it a bit. It would have made some parts of the game a lot easier.

Honestly my only "issue" with Levitater is that it only knocks zombies in 1 tile, _back_ by 1 tile. I never really understand how that's even a good staller until this video.
Also wow you're actually right! I never noticed that Penny's Pursuit is honestly a pretty good place for stallers! As an avid Draftodil fan, I've found myself being able to use her most of the time in Penny's Pursuit.
And lastly, I get ya man. I really wish Arena had more to it than just "kill zombie as fast as you can". It causes practically all the good strats to have a similar set of plants. I know this from experience of constantly trying to find more unique strategies, instead of just (Bowling Bulb &/or Primal Potato Mine) + Tile Turnip yet again.

You didn't mention this, but I think there's another reason why Levitater just isn't that great compared to other stallers, and it's Turkey-Pult. Turkey is incredibly strong when brought with good stallers, specifically those that can inflict some kind of stun. However because Levitater sends zombies into the air, it means any turkey stack will end up running past the stunned zombies and get destroyed by any zombie that's behind them. Not only that but levitater's spammable nature clashes with the fact that turkey is good when spammed, which contrasts with Stickybomb Rice who can usually stall extremely well with only one column of itself. Basically, turkey alone can make stallers viable and missing that combo means that Levitater gets stuck with Hocus Crocus in the cool concept but not much practical use zone

I think levitater works best in endless levels, maybe above 30. With only 2 of them and some insta like potato mine or chilly bean, early game will be a piece of cake. Most important, levitater gives you time to spam twin sunflowers or let the sun shrooms grow without triggering the next wave of zomebies

You are right, the levitater is very useful with electric blueberry setups since the electric blueberrys thunderclouds chases its target (literally)
I haven't used it, but it actually looks not bad. When i see it, spring bean comes to my mind, and it fixes spring beans problems. Spring beans problem was being a cooldown plant that requires zombies to touch it. That would risk the plant being eaten when it's not ready. Levitaters range fixes that.

Now hes gonna make: Vamporcini is great, garlic is great, Noctunarini is great
Garlic has it's uses in Jurassic Marsh. Drop one on the very first column, and you ensure you won't have to deal with any Dino BS from that lane as long as you First Aid it.
3 garlics to concentrate everything on 2 lanes and make sure your Perfume Shroom only has to cover those 2 lanes, instead of 5.
Granted, this only works because JM doesn't have any unique "destroy without eating" Zombies aside from Gargs.

Well, uh, it either introduces a plant that fails in that zone (like Levitater), or something so broken it ruins the game, so yeah, he DOES hate arena, mainly bc it leads to the game to be viewed as "unbalanced", and plants like Levitater suffer from being in Arena.
The problem that i have with it was most of the time its better to fill the lane with more more powerfull plant than something like levitater
If it had more knockback I could see it being used as a way to move zombies backwards to gain more points.
How to make Levitater more viable for the average PvZ2 player:
+Make it so zombies that Levitater levitates are susceptible to Draftodil and Hurrikale.
Wouldn’t really do much in the grand scheme of things, since primal pea/tumble weed exists and would still be better for Blover crap.

I have been watching some of these PVZ videos you made, with the idea of how could I make the plants you talked about strong, and useful.
I disregarded Levitater at first since I just use other stallers but after using it quite a bit it's rather fun to mess around with. It has good synergy with many plants like Zoybean Pod, Lazer Bean and other slow or support plants.
That being said while I do find it useful in every mode besides Arena. I think it still gets outclassed by almost ever other staller in the game. If I had a choice I would choose something like Stallia or Sap-Fling then it in a most cases. Feel like this should be a gem plant.

Stalling isn't pointless in arena. Tomb Tangler's main purpose is to turn grave HP into plant HP. And it does this well. I wouldn't recommend stalling tactics in arena, but Tomb Tangler + Wallnut (which works in regular levels with tombs) is descent. Not great, but you can at least use plants that synergize with stalling and plan certain locations to always have a wall.
Or you can just lose, because the premise of arena is killing zombies as fast as possible to get more points than the opponent, and stallers exist to slow down zombies

When I first palyed with tater in the Quest log, it honestly felt pretty busted for me.
I think Levitater whoud be pretty op with Draftodil. Like, the first make zombies airborn, the other insta kills airborn targets.

Meteor flower is pretty good, since it has a 35% chance to double/triple attack. Popcap introducing a plant to counter Jurassic March endless is also incredibly funny.

I have never played any PvZ games, but I find your videos very interesting. On your video about Blover, I think it was a comment mentioned that Chard Guard's ability to send zombies flying backwards could be combined with Blovers to send zombies flying entirely off the screen and killing them instantly. It makes me wonder if Blover and Levitater could be combined in the same way.
My beef with it is how it makes zombies and itself obscure the lanes above them, more visual clutter is tough for me to work with.

As a vanilla arena player, for the most part stalls are useless, stallia is good cause of its knock back, but in my opinion if you want to stall, in ARENA, get a plant that applies a slowing effect, like snow pea or shadow pea, levitator is honestly not good in arena, most the time, it confuses me because they make plants arena obtained and most of these plants aren’t of much use in arena.
