- Sting lead singer with The Police talks about spending time in Ireland and how he got his nickname. This interview features clips ('The Bed's Too Big Without You' and 'Can't Stand Losing You') from one of their Miami concerts in 1979.
I noticed that there are not few interviews from that time (Zenyatta Mondatta), so I decided to post here. Enjoy!
This episode of ‘Summerhouse’ was broadcast on 8 July 1980. The reporter is Áine O’Connor. All rights reserved to RTÉ Television. - Hudba
“I’d like to go on as long as possible” and here he is still touring at almost 72
Yes but The Police didn’t last 😉
He would never have been happy staying within that Musical box....as good as it was to the world @moniquedenouden9289
Refreshing seeing someone actually answering "it's a tax haven" instead of lying.
He's very shy.
Oh my word, such a beautiful man !!!
At age of 72, still gorgeous !!!
Love this voice.
i was 16 that year,i went back to school after lunch when someone said they just saw sting somewhere uptown...it was big news,i didn't know whether to believe it or not...at the time, for me,the police were not just the best band, they were special...i don't remember what i "learned" in school that day,but i remember that
Anyone else at this show in Miami in 1979?…Gusman theater. I knew they would big but never to this level. Phenomenal group and tremendous video. Thanks.
I just love this version of him.
Copeland. Half man - half machine!
Thank you for the video! Sting was and is such a sexy man!
Always, I love his feline look
@@luzpueblalara4128 Feline? Hahahhaha
He drips sex appeal and is very good looking 🥰❤️
Yes, he kinda looks like a cat or a lion, specially with longer hair 😍
@@luzpueblalara4128he is stunning🥰
Nice find. And nice honesty from Sting about stardom. "Many disadvantages but all out weighed by the advantages."
I bet that writing he did made itself onto Ghost in the Machine. One of their greatest albums.
Invisible Sun must have been written while he was taking his sabbatical there.
@@thewomble1509 It was, he says so in his book.
he left teaching job but still educate
world I respect him
He ended up in NYC, Tuscany, and probably a dozen other estates all over the globe he doesn't tell the media about so he doesn't get bothered there lol.
I've seen him in NYC several times. People don't bother him here as far as I saw.
Great interview with amazing live footage.
Well done.
Clever guy is Sting top bloke
great music
Blimey , my mother’s family moved to Yorkshire from Laois ( ironically called ‘ Queens County ‘ ) at the time of the English engineered Irish potato ‘ famine ‘.
That 's not unusual. It was leave or starve to death thanks to the English Conservative Landlords. My Great Gran was from Wexford and went to Liverpool.
You'd think he would've been completely bald by the 90s.
He did shave his hair in 96-97
@David Michaels For sure. He's a vain dude.
His hairline is pretty bad here
il était bien mignon!! j'aime son grain de beauté!!
Sting is the best.
Stewart COPELAND Great drummer
Especially his symbol work. Not many drummers can coordinate the hands and feet the way he can.
He ended up settling in NYC
He was living in a house in cork at one stage
@@ImpartiallySpeaking tax exile
@@robertk2007 I think you’re right. Definitely during the early 80s but not any more. Now he’s paying millions of pounds in tax every year which is more than can be said for most of them.
@@ImpartiallySpeaking he lives in NYC where our taxes are extremely low here in the US
Not exactly a place to go for peace and quiet. Maybe the high tempo life of Galway became too much and he elected to go to the quiet, almost forgotten backwater called New York .
I never realized that he had a receding hairline even when he was young!!
Sting is so very hot and smart! This is why women love him and men are so jealous.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
His mannerisms are very seductive....maybe even calculated.......men feel threatened because its effective...

Your opinion doesn’t count.
swimming is taxing, when you've filled the POOLs in...
Wow! So how did you get that?
in close up pictures you can se that he kind of looks like a young Morrisey round the mouth , chin and nose.......Irish ey?
Sting: half man, half wasp.

fun fact: Sting left the republic after getting threats from the Provos. They took exception to his politics and his customary inability to avoid pontificating. some of us think the Provo's were far too tolerant.
In other words,
freedom of speech, just watch what you say.
How insecure are the Provos that they can’t handle a different opinion?
@@jasonlefler3456 I'm not against freedom of speech Jason. I was just reporting on a situation that happened over thirty years ago. Calm down pet.
@@thewomble1509 I was referring to the Provos, not you.
Maybe read for content next time.
@@jasonlefler3456 Or, word you post more specifically you narky get.
@@thewomble1509 It was perfectly specific.
You just jumped to conclusions and resorted to ad hominem attacks,
which is usually a sure sign that you’ve lost an argument.
Sting never had much of a Newcastle accent.
He did im a geordie but he was a posh geordie
@@pam164 Interesting, thanks.
@Wid Eye Not all Geordies are broad im not and know plenty the same, we all don't talk like Jimmy Nail!
@@pam164 Can you be "posh" with a working class background like Sting?
I know he made a class journey/travel, but still. Asking for a friend :)
@herrbonk3635 No, but you can act it and talk it, like he does.
Sting is a WHITE GOD, I am serious, WORSHIP STING.
Wtf
