- A Brentwood woman is speaking out after being physically and sexually assaulted while walking her 4-week-old baby in what she used to feel was a safe neighborhood.
Carmina Lu says the July 15 attack happened around 5 p.m., just moments after she said goodbye to a friend and her young daughter.

So “did you see the video” is an appropriate question. The video gives visual AND audio description.

Thank God this woman was not more seriously hurt and she survived and defended herself. The people who helped her are heroes too! Sorry you got hurt with the swelling and injuries, but glad you survived and are strong to keep being there for your child and family. Stay healthy in the mind. The attacker might be mental or on drugs. It was not your fault. These are scary times. Go exercise maybe in an indoor gym. Much hugs to you. People should be aware of people that seem a bit off when out and about. Stay safe out in the world.

Yes, I go waking everyday mostly during the weekdays but I always make sure to have my pepper spray & taser on me at all times! It’s sucks how times come to this but it best to always have some type of protection on you!
Many of you weren’t around in the 70s or 80s, but LA was no safe haven back then either.
Why are you bringing back the past? Now is what matters, and the currently policies and lack of consequences for repeat offenders are the problem.
I was there in the 70's and 80's. There was crime but it was mostly between gangs. You didn't have all these thefts, robberies and assaults all over the city. If you were north of the 10, you were pretty much safe except between Alameda and San Pedro Street. Skid row was sketchy but nothing like today. I worked in that area for 9 years and also worked in the music industry. Hollywood, Santa Monica, Westwood area- we went out at night with no worries. North Hollywood had some Hispanic gangs but they never bothered us. Now, nowhere in the city is safe.
Um, this was *Brentwood* though. Same with Beverly Hills. You didn't have people looting stores on Rodeo Drive in the middle of the day back then. Housewives in upscale neighborhoods could walk their own neighborhoods without being sexually assaulted.

Yeah, there was crime but it was mostly just gangs fighting each other. It’s completely different now. Today, you can’t even walk anywhere feeling safe anymore. You get attacked by crazy drugged out homeless people or get mugged by the smash n grab robbers. And city leaders side with criminals instead with the citizens. That’s why crime isn’t going away and getting worse.
It was just gangs on gangs violence mostly back then, so nobody cared. It wasn’t violence against random people or home invasions like it is now. The violence was just in the inner cities.

A safe neighborhood is something from the movies in the 1930s 40s and 50s the safe neighborhoods are gone no matter where you live. No one can feel like they’re completely safe. The mommy courage came out like a lioness very very happy that the baby and mom are OK.

I hate when people say oh we don't have crime or we never expect crime. Crime is EVERYWHERE. I hate this happened to her. Women should be able to walk their babies their dogs their kids without fear of violence but we have to adjust to the violent world we all live in. Take better precautions walk in groups carry mace walk on major streets. Hopefully she can recover and find some other stay at home moms and walk with. It's always strength in numbers. Glad baby was not harmed.

Wrong, she said he grabbed her with both hands on her hips and sexually assaulted her. If true, that is, in fact, sexual battery, one form of sexual assault. Sadly, so far, he was only charged with felony battery and was already release on a $50K bond. Ask Brentwood police why they didn't charge him with a sexual crime and set the bond even higher, when the alleged victim said he committed one.
