Me , my sister and my dad were setting the tent up, and all of a sudden, there was a massive force, and the side of the tent blew in. It was like someone had turned on a powerful blower. It never stopped at all, and i was sleeping on the front line of it. The corner took a right old beating, Never slept at all much that night, my dad was the only one to get some sort of sleep, he was on the other end of the tent.

    If you cut the onions into thick rings n put them in first with butter/oil and cook for 5 min then place meat on top. Add slices of potato/root vegtable and water......try to find wild garlic or bring salt (should always carry salt) and other condiments. Cover and let it simmer on an orange 'charcoal' part of the fire rather than flame. You can eat cooked stinging nettles too, and cook or eat the seeds raw. Hope that helps 😁

Apparently up here it was stormy, wet and cold and I slept all night. I woke up to and opened the bivy and got wet . I saw you video yesterday. Didn't have time for a reply . I often do scrambled eggs. I also like the black pudding. I like chopped and cooked with bacon pieces and served in a bun with either mustard or sauce of choice etc . I like it chopped into cubes and eaten raw with cheese and posh bread and spread . On some camps I eat a lot of food , nowt wrong with it as you need the energy. The forest beckons us, fills our thoughts. You can't stay at home anymore! You literally rip your jacket and backpack off the rack. You go on a journey where there are no people, and nature is especially beautiful. The smell of last year's wet needles and leaves is carried by warm air, which permeates you with a strong stream. You cannot get enough of it. The forest accepts us as we are. We are his guests, not his hosts. And we are grateful to him. How can it be boring for someone in this world to look at a drawing of veins on a green leaf for several hours?

    • @eumaeus
      @eumaeus Před 4 lety +2

      What questions do you have regarding the English countryside buddy? As you'll see from English Woodsman's video, we're a temperate climate where dampness (especially between October and April) is common. We also have severe laws on cutting down trees and even most wild camping sites have restrictions on gathering standing dead wood. That said, our trees offer a great deal of variety, ideal for bushcraft - shelter, easily preparing feather sticks, fat wood etc. Carrying a tool is problematic too. It's illegal to carry a fixed blade and the blade must be no more than 3 inches (about 7.5cm). Which is pretty useless, you can't baton well without a fixed blade (I prefer a full tang). There's work around though. If challenged by the police, ensure your blade is at the very bottom of your backpack. This way, you can confidently reply that it is a tool and not a weapon (as you couldn't possibly get to it in time to be of use). You need to be heading to or from your pitch location too...you can't justify walking around your local store with one.

    • @chrispony5000
      @chrispony5000 Před 4 lety +2

      @@eumaeus I was wondering about that big blade with orange handle! It's a shame that is illegal! I visited London twice and was perplexed by the lack of knive shops. (Not knowing at the time) with regards to the countryside I have no questions at the moment but seeing people traipsing about in the videos is exactly the answer I need.

      @@englishwoodsman Im sure you enjoy it, no problem. See, the only time I went camping was with the Wolf Cubs, in wild Wales. We were told to bring a blanket, which I did. The tents were huge heavy canvas things to take 6 cubs. It was autumn half term, and we went by train from London. There was a groundsheet which leaked. Rain dripped from above. It was cold and the ground was cold and wet. All our spare clothes were used to try to insulate us, but ended up wet. we had a hot breakfast around a big fire but our front was too hot and our backs wet and cold. No modern waterproofs then, it was the worst experience I ever had.

    Great vid....and yeah, that cooking got me hungry!! i spent years camping and used to love being in a tent when pouring with rain. Best tent i ever had was a Vango Force Ten Mk5. Bought it second hand for £40 and ten years later sold it for £120 and could easily have sold it several times over as the phone rang off the bloody hook! Now i'm too old and knackered for camping but toured throughout Europe in a campervan.

I love my food too. it brings me joy and makes me smile, so what better way to enjoy it than on a beautiful fire out in nature. 👍 It's comfort-eating and there's nout wrong with that!!! Plus you're outdoors, you've been walking, setting up, collecting and chopping wood plus the weather. GET STUCK IN I SAY!!! anyway... Back to the vid... 👍😂

    Pork is 6-2-2 at 2cm -
    Add the meat to the pan and cook on high for six minutes on one side.
    After six minutes, turn the steak over and cook for another two minutes on the other side.
    Remove the meat from the pan and let it rest uncovered on a plate in a warm area (not the fridge). Resting your meat for two minutes after cooking will allow for it to hold on to the delicious juices after cutting.

    when you are spliting wood, baton it half way to get the blade stuck and then hit a fallen log with the stuck blade and wood. this way you wont blunt or chip the blade batoning it into the dirt. no point ruining a good blade.

    I had a similar experience last weekend snow camping in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California about 7200 feet. One gust measured 209 miles per hour about 10 miles from us. I'm willing to be we had winds between 60 and 80 miles per hour overnight and into the morning. Just about knocked me over hiking up the hill with my pulk and snowshoes to the parking lot. Nasty crosswind. I'm working on a video of our shenanigans from the night before - and showing some of the storm. Crazy winds for sure!
