  • In this video we continue our journey ranking each and every Pokémon based on how many lions they could realistically defeat. This episode we go through the first half of the Johto Region (Pokémon 152-200), will they fare any better than the Kanto Pokémon who came before them? Or are these Pokémon also doomed to the fate of a lions stomach?

    I can’t wait for you to get to Arceus in Gen 4 and go “He created the universe, but that doesn’t mean he can destroy lions. I think he gets like 1, maybe 2 lions on his own.”
    Also, a quick note that, while it is true that flying Pokémon would need to land eventually, and even if we assume levitating Pokémon stay at a fixed height and don’t have full flight powers, Pokémon like Gastly, Haunter, Weezing (but only the Galar one so you wouldn’t count it anyways), Primal Kyogre, Wishiwashi School Forme, Cursola, Eturnatus, Dondozo, and, famously, Wailord, are all lighter than air, and thusly, cannot attend the fight because they would leave the atmosphere. And while the ghosts can do ghost things, Wishiwashi can just ungroup, and Kyogre can just go back to normal, two of them are f*cking whales and are f*cking dead now.

    • @lag_man8229
      @lag_man8229 Před 4 měsíci +1

      It makes sense for the literal ghosts but ones like primal kyogre doesn’t make sense.
      I mean, I guess it doesn’t have to land but like, what’s it gonna do? Its main property is still… water.
      I guess he can flood the battlefield, but that’s gonna cause problems for the Pokémon, too (mainly charizard)
      Now that I look at it, why tf is it the water types that are lighter than air???

    • @username5155
      @username5155 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@lag_man8229 Well, you see, Wailord is the “Float whale” Pokémon and is very blimp shaped, some of its dex entriend mention it jumping out of the water, and one even says that it breathes water into its nostrils (that is apparently has????} in order to fill its lungs with enough water to be able to sink up to 10k feet before it needs to resurface for air due to it filling its lungs mostly with water and obviously having to breathe out to go up, and when you breathe out, you tend to want to breathe in again afterwards.
      So I think they just made Wailord a blimp on purpose but then just made the other whales and whale-shaped Pokémon also have the same density because math is hard and they (supposedly) can’t just base the weight of their new blue whale Pokémon off the weight of a blue whale.

    I don't think you guys are taking psychic attacks into account enough. Most pokemon can just summon a flame, a lightning or a strong stream of water, enough to easily kill a hundreds of lions, and most Pokémon that can fly or levitate can get off several thousand attacks. Amplify that by their attack or special attack stats, as well as special traits stated in the Pokédex and you get large numbers for basic pokemon like Arcanine or Ampharos.
    Also I've noticed you don't look at the stats too much. I also think the website you are on does a poor job of representing the stats, since they look like they have very few extreme values, looking at the statistical chart representing them and does not show any numbers. Consider that the normal Pikachu-esque Pokémon has around 60 in their highest stats, and then consider that Mewtwo has 154 special attack. Looking at how the games give out their stats, the power of the pokemon relative to their offensive stats does not seem to be linear, even though the values themselves are, meaning a Mewtwo isn't just 2,5x stronger than your regular old Pikachu, but more like 10'000x stronger. Also, Pokémon with high offensive stats in both Atk and SpAtk should do better than ones with just a high value in one of them. For each 20 attack stat points, a Pokémon generally is 10x stronger canonically from my own research, this of course is not everything making a pokemon stronger. Speed and bulk plays a massive role, but the raw killing power seems to scale in this way.
    Source: *Trust me, I did my Pokémon homework*

    • @lag_man8229
      @lag_man8229 Před 4 měsíci +1

      If we’re taking stats in accountability, then every lion would have their own unique stats, so some lions will counter some Pokémon with, let’s say, low melee defense or HP *cough cough shedinja*

    • @bigtam1687
      @bigtam1687 Před 4 měsíci

      I too wish psychic types was more so taken in consideration.
      Also you're most definitely correct! Pokemon stats do not scale linearly and if cross reverenced proves there indeed inaccurate.
      Though high balling Mewtwo to be 10'000x stronger than Pikachu probably isn't correct. The stark contrast between Pikachu and Mewtwos power is apparent,
      just not 10 thousand times difference. Probably in the 10s to 100s times, depending on the Pikachu.

    i'll make one of these on every video if you want :)
    chikorita: makes a scent that calms down the lions, reducing the offensive pressure on the other pokemon.
    bayleaf: if bayleaf's scent can fuck up the lions enough, they might all just start fighting, but if not, the aroma acts as a stimulant to restore health, so it heals allies with small bursts of scent.
    meganium: calms down lions and it's breath can heal plants, so it acts as a medic for the other grass types.
    cyndaquill: gets a few lions with the fire blast from its suprise, then it gets eaten.
    quilava: it can fire back shots at will, even when not suprised, radiates superheated air, and is super agile. it dodges and weaves through the lions, burning tons of them to a crisp. i say 30-60 lions.
    typhlosion: instantly ignites whatever it touches, can create huge smokescreens for cover, fires huge explosions at will. it gets hundreds of kills.
    totodile: totodile is a glass cannon. any lion he hits instantly dies, but 1 hit from a lion kills him. i give him 5 kills because he's rapid fire biting lions and instantly pulverizing whatever piece of lion flesh he bites down on.
    blastoise: since you edited him he gets a mention. hundreds of meters range instant kill water canons that can punch through a lion and hit several behind it with 1 shot. i give him 100 kills, he sits behind the front lines and acts as artillery.
    croconaw: his bite is inescapable, but he can't specifically crush anything. sadly, he has 0 kills.
    feraligatr: moves at blinding speed and tears a lion apart with 1 bite. it gets 20, but only by dodging past lions at extreme speeds.
    sentret: he looks at things and warns people. 0 kills.
    furret: it's fast and agile enough to distract lions and stay alive for a while, but no direct kills.
    ponyta: because you mentioned it, only those it trusts can touch its fire and everything else gets burned, it's hooves are 10 times harder than diamond (which isn't that strong but is decent) and it can canonically trample anything, it gets a few kills.
    hoothoot flies around for a while and stays alive that way, but dies in 1 hit. 0 kills.
    noctowl: tries to peck a lion and gets killed. 0 kills, but it flies around and survives for a while.
    ledyba: the dex specifically mentions it uses protect, which weakens all physical attacks for all allies by 50% for 5 turns (not that long but a while). flies around and uses protect until it runs out of PP (20 uses) for powerful support. no direct kills though.
    ledian: it has 4 arms, and it's punches are weak but it can punch extremely fast. i give it 1 kill but with a crazy combo that everyone is impressed by.
    spinarak: it can spin a web that is ultra durable and sticky, and based on it's size can likely make a web at least 10 feet in diameter. it stays back and builds a web for support, then gets a few kills by trapping and imobolising the lions so they can't do anything. i'm betting if it's so durable, another pokemon will take the 10 free kills before the lions can collectively save the negligable ammount of trapped lions.
    ariados: can shoot infinite amounts of sticky silk from the front and back to trap lions. it gets 50 or more trapped lions and stays behind the front lines like blastoise. then the other pokemon get all the kills.
    crobat can drain all of a lion's blood in seconds, but then becomes too heavy to fly and dies immediately. 1 kill.
    chinchou: stuns and then kills enemies by firing electricity from its 2 electrical bulbs. it gets 5-10 kills.
    lanturn: creates an orb of light bright enough to completely illuminate the ocean for 3 miles. calculations have been done showing the amount of energy needed for this is enough to destroy the entire observable universe. 1 billion kills.
    pichu: fires jolts of electricity when startled strong enough to stun an adult human. all of it's energy is focused on 1 lion, and that lion is just barely killed in time. 1 kill.
    cleffa: he ain't gon do shit. 0 kills.
    igglybuff: if it starts rolling, it never stops. it also has the same calming scent as chikorita. it gets 0 kills but provides indirect support by calming the lions so they fight less, and rolling across the battlefield to hit more lions.
    togepi: it only gives good luck to those it likes. it's a luck generator for the pokemon, boosting all of their luck. in pokemon, the super luck ability increases accuracy of attacks, so that's my best bet on what togepi's luck does.
    togetic: no kills, but it flies around to stay out of attack range and gives the other pokemon happiness boosts to bring tired pokemon back into the fight.
    natu: survives for a while but gets no kills.
    xatu: no direct kills, but it helps more offensively oriented pokemon by staying near them and telling them what's going to happen.
    mareep: touching it gives a painful shock, but is not fatal. 0 kills.
    flaffy: it stores tons of electricity in it's fur. 1 kill, but on the lion that kills it. lion cuts its throat open and then dies from the voltage.
    ampharos: it's tail is so bright it functions as a lighthouse. stands back behind the front lines and stuns massive ammounts of lions. and yes, it works as a light house so the light beam can be focused in one direction.
    belossom: summoning the sunlight is cool but not really combat relevant. 0 kills.
    marill: it's tail is super long and stretchy. 0 kills.
    azumarill: can make air bubbles. 0 kills.
    sudowoodo: i'm running out of ways to say "0 kills".
    politoed: it mind controls poliwag and poliwhirl, but gets 0 kills itself.
    hoppip: it gets blown around in the wind for a while, but then falls down and gets eaten. 0 kills, 1 epic flying montauge.
    skiploom: it finds out the exact temperature. then it dies. 0 kills.
    jumpluff: the cotton spores make the lions start coughing. survives for a while by floating, but dies with 0 kills.
    aipom: survives for a while off pure agility, but gets 0 kills.
    sunkern: it shakes it's leaves at the lions. 0 kills.
    sunflora: stands still in the sun. 0 kills.
    yanma: by flapping it's wings really fast, it can make shockwaves that can shatter nearby windows. it keeps dodging out of lion range and blasting them witth shockwaves, it gets a few kills. it's 360 degree vision will help it dodge the lions better when it swoops down for a shockwave attack.
    wooper: it's covered in a poisonous film. sadly it only causes pain and can't kill. 0 kills.
    quagsire: it rams into boats and rocks without noticing, so it's fairly durable. it gets 0 kills but the lions take a while to kill it.
    espeon: same role as zatu. it predicts the future and reads the lion's thoughts.
    umbreon: it sprays poisonous sweat on the lions. a few kills.
    murkrow: a normal ass crow. 0 kills.
    slowking: it's smart enough to act as a strategist. you were right though, it gets big dumb when the crown falls off. 0 kills.
    misdrevous: nearby fearful individuals can heal it. since this is an active war zone, the fear energy will let it tank a ton of hits. 0 kills though.

    Guys in the comments, they REALLY think that the lions will win overall that's why they have to fudge the numbers in favor of the lions in these lists. Forget the fact that we see multiple examples of even the weakest of the pokemon on these lists KNOCKING OUT beasts not only the same size and strength of the lions but also with elemental powers to boot. So obviously if the weak ones can knock out a more powerful lion in battle multiple times, it can at least kill a few lions.
    "taking this to the real world" means that when you see chikorita's tackle knock down a 1000- pound pokemon then that's the amount of force their tackle has in the real world.
