Heath ledger and Cillian Murphy auditioned for the role of Batman and both became villains
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
@@notterryosborn5625 ah that’s it lol 😂
Peaky blinder
I heard that Christopher Nolan offered the role of Bruce/Batman to Heath Ledger, but that Ledger didn’t see himself in that role, so he turned it down. Thankfully, whatever the case may be, he didn’t turn down the role of the Joker.
@@mohammedaman4056 - 28 Days Later.
People saying he died because of the role make it sound too one-dimensional. Life is never that simple.
He died for his role. Is that not accurate?
@@DCTRC it was a accident, he took to much medication. But it makes for a good story.
They say it because he was doing method acting for the role, making him go down a depression n psychologic hole and he never truly recovered from it. I wonder though if he got the Bruce Wayne role things could of turned out differently for him. So sad to lose such a talent but unfortunately its something that has happened far too often, just need to look at the 27 club
@@johnniequick1756 at least there was some humour with the role of the joker if that role made him sink into depression I can’t see playing Nolan’s Batman having a different affect he was miserable as fuck haha
They had to replace his character with Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp to finish his scenes they just blended that in with the story
And that's how the best joker was born.
ya wanna know how I got these scars?!
@@Rosskles My father was, a drinker, and a fiend.
No he had a wife, who was beautiful
Nah Joaquin Phoenix in the 2019 joker movie is the best!
@@MrMagoo-rg8er that versions Joker is amazing yea but The Dark Knight Joker is also amazing
this dude was the best villain ever. he portrayed the best villain ever. it's going to be tough to top that
I think only a two face portrayal would be able to top it honestly
@@deathstarstallion by an iconic method actor? Maybe.
I think a villain that is very underrated is Agent Kruger from “Elysium.” What a fking creepy ass character he was. Sharlto Copley nailed that one
Hmm
@@edgarramirez9113 wdym? Doesn't have to be a method actor
R.i.P heath ledger 🙏🏿
Heath Ledger was so talented. Even the smallest details in his portrayal of Joker are hard. For example, when he joins the racketeers during their meeting, the black dude calls him a freak and Joker’s reaction is a weird sound coming from his mouth as well as a facial expression. Making that sound may seem like an easy thing to do, but it is incredibly hard. Ledger nailed the entire performance.
Who do you think did better, him or Joaquin?
@@matthewschwartz6607 I haven’t seen the movie with Phoenix.
@@matthewschwartz6607 Ledger. Phoenix sounded like a LGBT member with his voice. I didn't really like his portrayal.
@AlexanderNottingham Ok, you introduced yourself. Do you have anything else to say?
@@katarina5233 he said it all already. lol He is absolutley right, u cant compare the two performances as they were completly different jokers. Both were amazing and perfectly cast and performed.
This video is a masterclass in trying to hit a word count

Sorry to sound dumb but what do u mean pal ??

LUH MA FAO i saw your comment and let it replay and couldn't stop cracking up 😂
@@user-hu3zg8ld1c Nah bro you don't sound dumb. He means that it's like the equivalent of when you had to write an essay in school and trying to get as many filler words as possible in order to complete the assignment. Basically saying this guy is saying a whole bunch of bullshit in order to make the video longer lol. Sorry for the convoluted explanation.
Waiiit.. I heard Nolan say he offered it to Heath but Heath politely declined
You are correct.
Because this is the correct information. Not the information that gets a lot of views haha, funny how the two can’t be mutually exclusive.
Correct, the short info is wrong
100%
That's what I read too
I love that scene! he throws the champagne out of the glass and then still puts it up to his scarred lips. Such a great villain
This is false. Ledger didn’t audition for Batman. Nolan wanted him as Batman and Ledger turned him down since he wasn’t interested in making a comic book movie. It was only after he saw the world that Nolan created in Batman Begins that he called the director up asking to be involved in the sequel in some way.
What a shame. I would actually rather see his batman. Christian bale was amazing in batman begins, but I found his performance in the dark knight to just be more of the same with no real nuance to really convey what it was like for him going against a villain like the joker who managed to stay one step ahead and turn batman's strength against him. And the dark knight rises was just all around awful imo.
@@mr.doctorcaptain1124 If we had his Batman, we wouldn't have had his Joker. But I agree, I'm not a fan of Christian Bale
@@mr.doctorcaptain1124 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. People use their obsessive love of the Nolan films to blind them to the fact that Bale played a mediocre Batman at best. Even The Dark Knight doesn’t really have as strong a connection between him and Joker as people remember. The entire film, all Batman does is run around trying to clean up after the Jokers mess and underestimating him at every turn. Not to mention the blindingly terrible fact that Nolan wrote Bruce as being the true persona and Batman as just being the mask. Despite what Rachel says at the end of Begins it’s beyond obvious that Bale’s Bruce is who he really is and Batman just a persona he puts on. That’s not the work of people who understand the character. People can hate on the SnyderVerse as much as they like but at least Ben Affleck actually…y’know. PLAYED BATMAN!
@@thomaskilroy4573 I really liked Been Afflecks Batman.
@@thomaskilroy4573 The only flaw in that trilogy was the last movie. Batman Begins was excellent and Dark Knight was top tier. Stop trying to use one Batman performance and expect all others to do the same. All of them have different directions that their stories take them. Bale as Batman was perfect for that universe. Its this same nonsense that a minority of people tried to come with when Andrew Garfield played Spiderman. They started saying "Oh Tobey was not a good Spiderman anyway..." when his Spidey movies were mostly freaking great from critics and fans alike. Its not like its just one writer or director doing these series and the actors do what they want. Smh. Ridiculous.
Just like how Tom Hiddleston auditioned for Thor and not Loki
Like Heath, some actors just seem better in other roles, he did better as Loki than he could’ve been as Thor.
Just like Norman Reedus auditioned for the role Merle but his acting is so good, they made up the character Daryl and have him play the character.
Are u not getting mistaken with Liam hemsworth auditioning for the role but Chris got it and Liam ended up playing him in the asgardian plays u may be right but I just couldn’t see Tom hiddleston going for a role he would never get in a million years it would be like Verne Troyer going for the role of black widow haha don’t get me wrong Tom Is 1 of my favourite actors but he would look weird with blonde hair his frame isn’t capable of getting to the level he would need to play Thor
@@user-hu3zg8ld1c there's a clip of him auditioning as Thor, iirc. He has blonde hair and does some heroic pose.
@@user-hu3zg8ld1c There is a clip of his audition, he didn’t look like some who could play Thor 😅
Heath ledgers joker will forever be one of the best jokers. No one has surpassed his acting in that
I agree
It was not the case Nolan went to Ledger for Bruce Wayne but he denied.
Source?
@@tvdforever5147bruh just look it up
@@tvdforever5147 this is common knowledge. I believe it was on TDK behind the scenes. Ledger and Nolan always wanted to work together. Ledger reached out before Nolan even started searching for actors.
He was THE BEST JOKER EVER!!! BEST PERFORMANCE BY HEATH LEDGER... STILL GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS

1st: Joaquim Phoenix's Joker
2nd: Heath Ledger's Joker

Best villain role ever!
Not only was Heath the best Joker in all of Batman, he played 1 of the best villains in cinema ever.
Heath Ledger's performance just feels so damn timeless. Fr a masterpiece
The only person to win an Emmy after death!
He didn't want an Emmy. Emmys are for TV. He won a Golden Globe and Oscar. Of those awards he was never the first to win after death.

Legendary performance. We miss you, Heath!

I always wondered what would Christian Bale's Joker version be like ?

@@kahjunn9427 HAH! Accurate.
Like how Tom Hiddleston auditioned for Thor and got Loki, and in the process, we got a hell of a pair of villains.
It was definetly an iconic performance for him.
one of the best actors that walked this earth. Wish we could've seen more of him.
This short is literally me when writing an essay.🤣🤣🤣
Right...the poison. The poison for Kuzco. The poison chosen specifically to kill kuzco. Kuzco's poison...
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That poison?
Wow ! Sometimes when a door is closed a better and bigger window (or door) opens. Hope we all get that "better window" when things don't go our way.
Nolan did great choices. This trilogy is and probably will remain the best.
He was the best portrayal of the joker in my opinion
Best choice he ever made
Ledger... best joker ever, period. What an amazing actor all around. Bless him.
That man was 5000% better as the joker than anyone else who’s ever played it
Best Joker ever - incendiary, with great writing
Legendary performance! He nailed the Joker like nobody else ever has. Including Nicholson and Phoenix. Simply Genius!
I think the Nolan brothers nailed the casting. I remember well how everyone thought it was a joke (pun intended) that ledger was chosen for joker, until, of course, they saw the movie and his performance. Historical indeed.
it was the role of a lifetime for him...
...literally
I'm so glad he was the Joker, not a fan of the current version tbh. Heath's still my favourite
I can't believe my favorite version of the Joker, almost became Batman!!!!
I can see a batman constantly licking his lips while looking at catwoman?! Hehehe.
@@ReelingInTheYears69 Bro, what???
That would've been a hell of a performance
This was the best performance any actor has ever given on screen.
There have been many exceptional on-screen male performances.
Denzel in Training Day
Denzel in Glory
Brando in The Godfather
Pacino in The Godfather I & II
Pacino in Scarface
DeNiro in Taxi Driver
DeNiro in The Godfather II
Nicholson in The Shining
Nicholson in As Good as it Gets
Travolta in Saturday Night Fever
Portier in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner
Jason Momoa in Fast X
Joaquin Phoenix in Joker
Note: Momoa might be able to pull off a Joker similar to Ledgers. His Character in Fast X drew many comparisons to Ledger’s Joker yet wasn’t a copycat effort. He managed to make it his own, and it was a brilliant choice to combine inspirations from Ledgers Joker, Joaquin Joker, and Nicholson’s Joker all at once.
If you don’t believe me, watch the film. Momoa was absolutely brilliant…to the point that many fans want to see him play the next Joker.
In Mr.Ledgers iconic voice
"If you cant beeee the heroo..
Become the villian 😌"
Best portrayal of JOKER , hands down.
Legend says Nolan said this to Heath when he auditioned for Batman.
“Why so serious?!”
You could also say, Ledger was on the Ledger
Crazy cuz I think Ledger COULD play Batman, and also Bale COULD play the Joker.
Bale would have been a crazy insane Joker

Still the best actor for a villan of all-time till anyone tops him.
Now I'm going to go and overdose in my apartment. Be well people!!!!
Wtf
Don’t do that bro
@@franciscopesqueira3437 The guy commenting isn't saying he's gonna do that. The actor actually killed himself in that way after the movie irl

@@glamrock7870 I just researched it, and you're right. I was going off what I've been told before. Sorry for saying that
So it was Nolan that killed ledger, well done
How? He died almost a year after finishing the movie. He was filming another movie at the time when he died.
Playing Joker didn’t mess him up. He said it was most fun he’s ever had on a film.
@@Boygonebad I thank you for retaining the truth about Heath Ledger.
Honestly Heath Ledger, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy can all become great Batmen if they got the role. And Christian Bale would've also been a fantastic Joker or any other villain as well. That's how great and versatile these actors are.
imagine if we never got the joker performance from the gem of a human that is Heath Ledger..rest in peace legend..couldn’t imagine anyone else in that role
Ledger’s Joker remains one of the greatest villain portrayals in the history of cinema. I could watch Dark Knight 1000x and glean a new subtlety of his performance every time.
he will be remembered for his performance in this .
Heath’s perception of and reading of script and eventual portrayal of the joker is perfect. All the years of different Jokers. Just waiting for an actor Like Heath to breath proper life into this titular character. I hope no one ever does a better portrayal. Miss you Heath!
Nobody can ever beat Ledger's live action joker and Mark Hamil is the greatest animated joker and the laugh is still one of my favorites of all time😊🎉
Man, the spin offs we all missed out on from this role. We will never know. RIP Heath

Best actor in the world 😘
Legend never dies 🔥
That party scene was total improv by Ledger, and the rest of the cast had no idea what he was doing- so their reactions were all genuine.
Legendary!!!! The man set the benchmark way up there. There no topping his role as the joker.
Always legend Heath sir..love u from .. legend never dies ..they become star of universe
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself to become the villain.
If this is true... the way he created the Joker.. he would have been the best Batman hands down.
So my man basically said, if I can’t be the hero, I’ll be the best villain you ever seen
He was a Great man! Hopefully when i pass away ill have the chance to talk to alot of the great actors and singers and ask some questions!!
Heath Ledger became famous to play The Joker in The Dark Knight.

his role as the joker arguably overshadows bale as batman. a testament to how good of an actor he was.

Makes you wonder if heath would be alive today had he been cast as batman .... His joker performance and how he pulled it off was insane
He's been the best joker so far

That performance won’t be matched for a very long time. If ever. Once in a lifetime performance
Legendary role & actor!!!rip Heath....

He will always be the best Joker ever💯
We miss Heath Ledger.
This totally lines up with how joker in the dark knight games compares him and batman as sort of the same person, two sides of the same coin.
Ledger as batman would of beem insanely great. What a great actor.
Best Batman series ever made
Ledger’s performance on that movie still is one of the best performances period not just in Batman
If Ledger got the role for Batman, he’d probably still be here today…
Ledger never auditioned for batman
He might still be with us today if he never played Joker, but we would never get such an iconic portrayal of the Joker. May he rest in peace
I thought Heath was offered the role and he turned it down. Well he played, in my opinion, the best Joker so far. Wish he got the chance to reprise his role. RIP
No one will ever be a better Joker than Heath Ledger. A star gone way too soon
He would've been an outstanding Batman
