@KnightSoulsG guess you didn't watch the video. Platinum literally came out and said they were at fault. They had way too many games in development at the time and we're using Microsoft's money while continuously missing deadlines.

That's a horrible marketing strategy. You want people to know the product is coming. Not just drop a surprise the day it releases.
Any game that gets cancelled because it was going to be a live service or a MP game has my full support.
Losing Scalebound hurt. It's so rare to find a decent Dragon game where you can actually play _as a dragon!_

I still remember that obscure PS2 game - where you played as a female protagonist and a 🐉 … you could play as both in the open world… it was pretty amazing game mechanics at the time!
@@mikespike2099 I remember Drakengard 1&2 and Drakkan. I don't remember any other dragon games like those on the PS2.
Off-topic, I really wish Sega would release a remaster of Panzer Dragoon Saga. I've always wanted to play that.

I had never heard of Spiderman: The Great Web before now, but as soon as I heard the words "multiplayer live service" I was immediately elated that it's been canceled.
Completely agree with The Last of Us Online and Naughty Dog's reasoning makes sense. No one wants them to a multiplayer only studio. I just wish they'd made the decision 4 years earlier.
It just sucks because of all the wasted time on that project. I really don’t understand why they just cancelled it instead of release it as a multiplayer, non-live service game. We use to get full priced multiplayer games, like Left 4 Dead. Multiplayer doesn’t have to mean live service. I’m torn on this one. Could have been fun, but we’ll never know and they wasted a lot of time and money

I'm a big fan of Fable and Fable Legends did not look like a Fable game I wanted to play. I did pick up the art book for cheap though and the art is really nice, so something good did come of it.
Scalebound hurts still, and an original style of time splitters was what i was waiting for 10+ years
The Great Web is a great concept! For a single-player game with optional online mode.
While not *technically* a cancelled game since it evolved, I would still welcome Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
What's really cool about Innersloth (Among Us) is they formed Outersloth to help fund other indie games. It's nice to see devs who made it big share the wealth and raise everybody up.

Not Scalebound. They should've kept that one. As for Too Human, that one did not deserve to fail, it only failed because Silicon Knights wanted to keep stroking their ego rather than admitting they screwed up.
The Scalebound trailer was one of the main reasons I started playing video games, brought myself a used console and some games I was interested in, excited for when it would come out. Huge dragon lover and while never got that game have several games I have played and love.
Scalebound as a strictly single player game would be nice. Just a guy and a dragon wrecking things in an action-RPG setting. Sounds good. Platinum games was stretched too far with it though.
I honestly don't know any other person who played Too Human. When i was a kid/teen I loved it. Controls were a bit odd, but the concept was good

Reason scalebound hurt I think is Xbox needed games at that time and the one they had people talking about they canceled it

I didn't pick up tlou part 2 when it originally released because I figured I would pick it up a bit cheaper a few months later when the multiplayer came out. Joke was on me all I got for waiting was Joel's story spoiled. No one asked Naughty Dog for a live service game. To say this was why they had to cancel it is such a cop out. A sequel to factions wouldn't mean the end to them making single player games. They haven't supported the original factions multiplayer in years, and haven't needed to (other than patching out a few exploits) because they built it solid, and that still has a community of players all these years later. Multiplayer exists without live service and that's how it usually was before 2019. The fact is Naughty Dog straight up promised when they originally released part 2 without factions 2 that we would one day be able to play the multiplayer they were working on. Then they decided to expand the multiplayer more and after years of working on it decided to make it into live service even though it hadn't been built for live service so that was like 5 years down the drain to try to make what started as a basic multiplayer addition to the main game "live service". I'm disgusted with Naughty Dog after all the cash grab remakes remasters, then cancelling the multiplayer they could have released originally and updated over time(exactly what happened with the 1st factions multiplayer). If you think Naughty Dog is about single player narratives any more then the joke is on you, they are only about money.

I'm not gonna lie that spiderman getting cancelled hurt my soul a lil bit..., but I agree if we keep getting AAA single player games from insomniac I'm all for it
I played a Batman Begins game but it wasn't open world. You could interrogate thugs holding on to beams in a building using a grapple gun but it was just a button press to pull them up & a button to interrogate or knock them out if I remember right as your reputation meter built up they eventually saw him as the version that Scarecrow saw I don't know if it did anything special. The combat was pretty simple from what I remember it's been years though after each time beating the game you could unlock a suit it got repetitive though & nowhere near as cool an open world game would have been or the Arkham games.
A Fortnite version of TimeSplitters? No thank you! If a new TimeSplitters game is made, don't make it look like Fortnite!

I really don’t understand how Sony/naughty dog managed to work for years and near completion on a live service game, only for them to then realise that live service means you have to keep working on it after release… that’s literally what live service is ffs 🤦♂️😂
The pitch for The Great Web was a bit more like GTA Online than one of the other games mentioned and I'm still heartbroken that it's not happening. That said, I can completely understand that Insomniac didn't want to be locked in to a multiplayer game when their single player games keep hitting it out of the park. I wonder if it would have been possible to put another studio on the job.

As much as I loved Insomniac's Spider-Man game, lashing a developer of their caliber to a single live service would be a mistake. I'd much rather them work on single-player campaigns like Wolverine and whatever other IPs Sony has lined up for them.
I wouldn't mind a multiplayer Spiderman game, just not a live service one

I enjoyed the free version of the full Too Human game on Xbox One and it's originality. It's colourful, has a phenomenal weapons system, and pretty unique setting. Now we just get hero shooter after live service after boring nothing games!
Pretty sure too human was also due to being sued over making a modded version of UE? Might have that a bit wrong something like that
Embracer group is known for running studios into the ground.
I appreciate how many of these are single player studios cancelling live service games that probably would've canned them.

A bit sad about Too Human 2 and 3 because I feel like it had a lot of potential and I really enjoyed it but it wasn't like a traditionally good game. I think if they got another stab at it they could have made something really good though.

Wait, Scalbound was multiplayer game? I always though it was going to be singleplayer. I probably would have passed on it, if multiplayer was required, since I much prefer playing solo. But man was concept looking interesting. Like I do hope if they revive it, it won't be yet 10000000th title looking for multiplayer gold, just to find out that people actually don't have infinite time to play them all and ultimately fail.
Also Fable as was cancelled, it was just another attempt at digging for gold in multiplayer, I honestly hated the idea back then. Fable is singleplayer franchise, it needs proper storied singleplayer game. Not some sort of free to play garbage trying to score big on whales.
Call of Doom is similar, just that it went for another trope, trying to reinvent COD, I have my doubt it would have succeeded, since if people want to palsy COD, there is no better COD than COD, so Doom would always be in back mirror and it would also disappoint old fans of franchise by not being proper Doom game.
And Timesplitters basically combined both, going for multiplayer gold and copying what is popular. Probably would be yet another flop for exact same reasons. Mulitplayer gold rush is so destructive to gaming franchises... but they keep going to it like crazy people did after gold, leaving thousands of corpses behind.
Timesplitters 2 and 3 both were phenomenal single player AND multi-player games

the scalebound demo was a disaster xbox did well to cancel it rather than release it and make it a ps5 babylon fall :) watching gameplay of babylon fall it seemed to me that it has a lot of recycled things from scalebound :)

Most of them. I heard Palworld and Helldivers 2 are fun. I don't do live-service, so I have to take other people's word for it.

Look. For Scalebound? Just give us that Platinum Games polish. That level of quality they've committed to their games in the past. It doesn't need to be online, nobody wants it to be an "online focused game" nobody was ever asking for that.
Make it a single player, focused spectical fighter action game. Thats what people want out of Platinum Games. Thats certainly what I want out of them.
To be fair they also released some bad games. Platinum is more hit and miss then allways great quality
Much as I loved TimeSplitters 2 & Future Perfect... any release or revival is just going to end up being another cash grab, micro-transaction heavy BS shell of what made the series so great
