  • Here is another night ride aboard the REM light metro system, this time between Île-des-Sœurs Station
and Central Station / Gare Centrale in Montreal.
In this video, we are looking through the back window as the train moves in the relatively north direction towards Montreal.
This video was filmed on Monday, August 7, 2023 starting at approximately 12:10 AM Eastern.

Looks amazing at night. Though I do have a couple of issues with the REM elevator/escalator problems but the ride gives us an amazing view of the city and Nun's Island. It's crazy how much Nun's Island has changed since I was a ittle kid.

Yes it's beautiful at night. I agree it's annoying the escalator and elevator issues. Hopefully they will be resolved. Yes, I prefer the old Nun's Island when it was mostly trees and fields.

Pat.....You're giving us great footage of riding on the REM. I find the night videos are very dramatic.

Pat..it's going to be very interesting to see what happens this winter if we get freezing rain on the wires and the tracks....also when we get major snowfalls. Ottawa are having so many problems with their LRT and the riders are getting fed up with the whole system.

To be fair, ottawa made the very poor choice of using light rail vehicles and rushing things.
I have a lot more confidence in the REM, they tested it all winter and metro trains are more resilient than LRVs

Yeah I know they did a lot of testing in winter the past few years, but only time will tell eh?

When Patrick uploads, you know it's gonna be a great video. i went on the REM and oh my god was it smooth, quieter and safer than the metro Because there no access to the rails. now nobody is coming here for the tourism. people just use it to get around.

Thanks so much for the comment! It means a lot. Yes, it is very smooth indeed. I like the REM so far. We will see what the future brings for the other REM lines.
