I have been painting for decades (since 1960’s), I find using an undercover layer of paint which is a close match to the metallic colour really makes the metallic paint stand out better. I.E, use sky grey under silver, yellow ochre under golds and tan earth under copper and brass. Thank you for your excellent videos 🙏🇬🇧♥️

This looks like it is worth trying. For many years, plain old Testors square bottle silver has been my standard for a good brush-on pure silver. However, I have now converted my paints to acrylics. This new paint looks awesome. I'll have to try some.
I can attest at least that acrylic is easier to deal with than enamel, and a lot more forgiving... And while I have not tried a ton of different metallics from different brands I can tell you the difference between cheap metallics and good hobby grade metallics is substantial. That said, the Vallejo Game Color silver is the best metallic I've ever used (from a small sample size, mind).
They do have some alcohol-based metallics if you were trying to do advanced techniques, but I believe you will need to put a polyurethane coat down to protect the acrylic from those.

So far i've used most of paitns used in the video and I would want to add few thigns :
- yoy may want to add some water, but it is extremely easy to overdose, and their coverage worsens signifiicantly
- lighter colors are really good for highlights, but using them as base layer may be quite hard ; silver is realy thick, while glorious gold very thin
- using black wash later gives great results ; the difference between those mettalics before and after is astonishing, and they really look like metal after applaying wash (if you use vallejo wash, remember to dilute it, i dilute to the point where it is noticably thiner, I don't count, but I may be near 1/2 or 1/3 proportion)

Love the game color range, but the Vallejo Metal Colors range has no equal when it comes to the silver colors. I really wish they’d expand that range for more golds, bronze, & copper colors.
Hola, interesante video y muy lindo acabado, pero me surgen dos dudas, ¿se pueden aplicar con aerógrafo? y la segunda duda ¿la segunda capa cuando se aplica, cuanto tiempo o cuando se ve seca ya es posible aplicar esa segunda capa?
Hola Chzuniga! Si, claro que las puedes usar con aerógrafo :) Normalmente no tardan mucho en secar, sobre todo si las aplicas a aerógrafo por la capa tan fina de pintura que has aplicado. En unos minutos la tendrás lista :)
¿Se pueden aplicar con aero? ¿Qué dilución recomendarías para aguja de 0.3 (Fengda) o 0.45 (H&S Ultra)?. Gracias de antemano
Hola Cuervo Alicante! Por supuesto, en el caso de las pinturas metálicas recomendamos la aguja de 0,45 (los pigmentos metalicos de las pinturas acrílicas son de mayor tamaño que los pigmentos normales de color por lo que usar una aguja más grande te evitará muchos atascos 💪🏻). Esperamos haberte sido de ayuda :)
Si necesito diluir un poco un metalico de vallejo, ¿recomendais usar thinner?
Por supuesto que puedes usar Thinner :)
Veo que el hacha esta imprimado en negro , y quisiera saber si para cascos, espadas y cotas de malla medievales con los metalicos vallejo ¿es mejor imprimacion negra que blanca ? Porque si pinto con xpress color tengo que usar imprimacion blanca en el resto de la figura.
Hola Mrceltiber! Si, para TRUE METALLIC METAL (pinturas metalicas) debes usar siempre una imprimación oscura-negra para que pueda haber contraste y el brillo se note y resalte, incluso en ocasiones se recomienda imprimacion negro brillante para intensificar el efecto metálico. Con Xpress Color ocurre totalmente al contrario: son pinturas transparentes, si añades una imprimacion negra no vas a ver los cambios de color dependiendo de los detalles de la figura ni habrá contraste, los ocultarás todos. Metales, siempre negro. Xpress Color, siempre blanco :)
Si, puedes imprimar en blanco la figura y las partes que vayan a ser metálicas puedes añadirle Primer a pincel o pintura negra mate justo antes de colorearlas :)

Hola Froggy! Gracias por tu comentario. Recuerda que siempre puedes contar con nosotros y nuestros videos para aprender a aplicar los colores, técnicas y efectos en tus figuras de forma exitosa. Además, siempre nos gusta recibir info cuando surge cualquier problema con nuestros colores para poder ayudar y que podais disfrutar de la pintura tal y como merecéis, no olvides comentárnoslo si eso ocurre. En cuanto a "ensuciar la pintura" no sabemos muy bien a que te refieres, pero es super importante que cuando termines de usar pinturas metálicas SIEMPRE SIEMPRE cambies el agua por agua limpia y los pinceles por unos limpios, y además, los que ya han sido usados los limpies muy bien con jabón neutro para deshacerte de todas las particulas metalicas. Asi nunca tendrás problema y no ensuciarás tu trabajo! Esperamos que te sea de ayuda y puedas disfrutar de los metalicos muchisimo. ¡Gracias! :)
You say it is best to start with the base colour, rather than the darker or lighter. But how do we know which metal is the "base" colour? You explained chainmail, but what about the others?
Mettalic range is quite scarse, it's 3 triads.
Yellow - bright bronze, glorious gold, polished gold
Silver - gunmetal (or 'dark-grey mettalic'), chainmail, silver
Copepr - tin, blackened bronze, hammered bronze
I've had to check this on their side and I would never guess that bright bronze is in golden tryad :p

The base colors are Chainmail, Glorious Gold and Hammered Copper, although the Bronze and Tinny Tin colors are also good at coverage. :)

Is possible to use them with an airbrush?
Yes it is, just thin them down. There is also a game air variant of the metallic colors for the old Game Air line, the new Game Air discontinued the metallics.

Absolutely! You can definitely use these metallics with an airbrush, but it's important to dilute them first. Don't worry though, I've got you covered with a helpful video that explains how to do it. :)

Me encanta la gama game color pero los metálicos no me sirven, son demasiado diluidos. Los metales de model color son superiores.
