    I knew you would love the Air Lift air bags. I bought the Timbrens for my 2016 F350 dually but decided to go with the new Air Lift 7500 bag. The new 7" bag allows you to run a little less air under load. I deliver new campers all over the country and wanted the versatility of the air bags for the the different sized trailers we deliver. I run 15 lbs when empty and seems it rides the best. I love not being high beamed when under load anymore. Good luck with them and keep the videos coming. I love your channel.

    That's not the track bar you measured, it's the tie rod bar, from knuckle to knuckle end, the track rod bar is the rod on the frame to the axle housing.

    @remembertheblacksabbath Před 5 lety +2

    That’s not the trac bar, that’s the tie rod. The trac bar, also know as the panhard rod, keeps the axle centered under the truck. The other bar is the drag-link that connects the pitman arm to the passenger side steering knuckle.

    We now have almost the same set up..I knew you'd like the bags. Now possibly I can talk you into some softer springs in the front, with some Fox 2.5 double adjustable shocks....same in the rear..this way your 450 will ride close to a 250. The front and rear springs soften the ride immensely on my F350. The bags take over when need be and now the Sulastics just enhance my system. If you are ever in the Diamondhead MS area..look me up and you can drive my truck. Love your channel, very informative..

    Just as an fyi, if you have a lifted truck and want airbags you can buy diferent size spacers from Airlift to compensate for the lift. Also PMF suspension makes lift blocks with an airbag mount.

    That wasn't the track bar that you compared in the beginning, that was a part of the steering linkage, the track bar is the bar that goes from the axel to the frame, to help keep the axel centered under the front of the truck

  • @mr.h5436
    @mr.h5436 Před 5 lety

    You should be using weight distribution hitches for those heavy trailers. Air Bags make the truck level but do not address the front axle weight loss(poor steering control/braking). Using both is a dream come true.

  • @chandler828
    @chandler828 Před 7 lety

    Cool. I was worried about air bags for the same reason you were. If one blew, you could potentially hit body on axle. The joust bumper really adds that ease of mind. Also the kit isn't too terribly expensive like a kelderman.

    Ok this one has to be the most helpful one I have seen of yours. For me personally. That is something I am looking for for my 2014 ram 1500. Truck rides smooth as a Cadillac. But it has coil spring suspension in the rear which makes it much softer then a half ton with leaf springs. I don't like what I have been finding on the market and would like something more to what u have. The main purpose of the truck besides a daily driver is to tow my 32 foot travel trailer. I have all the weight distribution and I practice proper distribution but the fact of my truck squats and it's nature of the beast. I know the bags would help but can't find anything like yours

    I noticed something of concern in your video when it shows the air bags and Timbren side by side. If the vehicle with the Timbren bumper were to come under heavy load causing the bumper to rest on the axle, it would land right on top of the brake line. The brake line in the airbag setup goes under the bracket. I can't believe that it would be OK to have any load support land or ride on the brake line.....

  • @ricbailey170

    Nice job on this. To me the 7500 system is bit of over kill for a majority of the people driving them. Even with a 18k or 19k 5th wheel the 5000 model (6” bags) exceeds most needs. Also don’t know if many will ever use the individual bag adjustment feature as most loads rest on the center of axel. The wireless one system offers all the wireless features except individual adjustment. If you use your truck bed to haul heavy loads, like construction use, I get your setup however for the money we will pay for these systems I would suggest the wireless one compressor and the loadlifter 5000 air bags w/ or w/o the Jounce bumper built in.

    I have a local dealer I use for my truck accessories and I asked them to quote me an install on this system. Since my new 2017 F-350 is a 2WD DRW they were not sure if the kit was the same as for the 4WD DRW trucks. They tried calling Air Lift and they are having trouble with someone answering the phone or getting back with them regarding this question. I would have a serious problem with buying this product and not being able to contact the company if I had a problem. If you have a contact in the company I would suggest you advise them of this situation.

      it would help and depending on the year of your truck, you might easily be able to find one from a salvage yard from a truck with a heavier package.
      its likely to be an easy bolt on affair when using factory parts.
      you will need the sway bar itself, the sway bar to axle brackets (and bushings) sway bar end links which bolt to the frame, at least on my generation f250. (write down what it came off of so you can buy replacement parts if needed)
      just looked at my own f250, it would be 100% bolt on, no welding / cutting required if using factory parts.

    Does anyone know what type of airbag or part number I would need to be able to drop the air and lower the back of a pickup for loading. I see some have internal jounce bumpers and others do not but from the videos I've seen you can dump air an drop it down like a diesel rv for example.

      @jav_eee Před 7 lety

      It whatever PSI it takes to get the truck to sit how you want. I've had mine anywhere from 15 to 95 PSI depending on the load.

      Javier Martinez i understand that...I was referring to 5th wheel towing because we both are now running similar systems.

    • @jav_eee
      @jav_eee Před 7 lety

      weatherherk1 I understand that, and the answer is the same. If you're looking for a specific number then start with 55 like he said and adjust from there. Every truck is different, there is no specific pressure to run.

      its not what he measured. he measured the tie rod.
      the funny thing is that the track bar is clearly visible within the video. its the that has one end connected to the frame and the other end connected to the axle running parallel to the axle.

    Bags look impressive in use, and probably give a superior ride; however, my opinion is still tainted by expensive issues with the air suspension on our recently demised Range-Rover. Purely based on the pain-in-the-arse factor when the bags degrade, I'm definitely still in favour of the Timbrens. We got around 110k miles until the air suspension gave trouble, which ain't bad, but the repair bills still give me nightmares a year on. I felt like I'd been raped. Coil or leaf springs for me from now on. Been looking at Ford Rangers this week, very impressed.....

    Hey man, I'm using a 2016 sierra 3500 for hotshot trucking. I'm usually pulling about 25k with the gooseneck and the ride is just unbearable with stock suspension, should I get these or would they get destroyed under the weight? (Note the tires are larger than stock, 305 70/r17). I'm using shocker hitch and it's better but still really rough, if this doesn't work what should I get?

    • @garymccarver5006
      @garymccarver5006 Před 2 lety

      In my experience these would be an awesome addition for a Hot Shot rig. Being adjustable for varying loads you would love them. The ride and handling is great, and no more squat.
