I've seen plenty of travel trailers with this layout but I do believe THIS Imagine 2970RL is my favorite of them. The attention to detail and all the extra storage they managed to create really push this one over the top for me. I also think the bedroom is about as good as a queen bedroom is every going to get!

Nice R V from front to back. Thanks for sharing
This is what we got! 😍 We absolutely love our rig! Grand Design always maximizes the the space, so there’s a ton of storage!❤️🙌🏼
It’s a great model. Nice choice for sure
OMG!!! Love that it has the booth!!
Come and knock on my door... We've been waiting for you, Where the kisses are her's and her's and his three's company too...
Grand Design has good quality stuff from what I've seen. I really like their stuff. But you are very correct in that it is too long and too heavy to be towing it at the bumper with a 1/2 ton. Definitely would want a 3/4 or better and a good quality, anti sway/weight distribution hitch for this one.
Slide a bucket??? LOL...
Front storage is great. Got to love the drop frame.
Love that it has solar on top pre-installed.
Overall, I think it's great. Your evaluation is spot on. Thanks for taking the time to showcase it.
Pat
TY Pat!
We own a 2021 Imagine 2970RL and LOVE it..... Grand Design is the BEST.. Love customer service when we needed them or had questions and we did have 2 recalls and they took real good care of us and our needs. Great Company.. The only difference I see so far from ours is the table. We have the floating chairs. Love this because of the camp side view. We wouldn't trade if for anything in the world and we researched a ton of RV's until we came across this one...
Great to hear! After sale support is great to know
YES!YES! YES! This checks all the boxes. I would option this with slide awnings and yes change out the fart fan. The sliding shelf under the bed I would take out. It would be a good place to store camp chairs, as I currently do.
OK Josh.... She is big, and with the opposing slides in the back, she really opens up!!! This one really hits all the buttons... Great kitchen on this and with the option for a table and chairs in the kitchen and the trifold sofa and theater seating... All of the outlets in a great place... And the bedroom storage... Hey, I'm a fan!!!
Josh I have been waiting on this since last September when we ordered ours. We got ours with the table and chairs cuz it just seems more homey. Also got the second air in bedroom for beach camping at OBX in July. I’m so relieved that this unit gets your seal of approval and high marks. We fell in love with it the moment we stepped in it. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Congrats! Hope I did it justice!!
@@JoshtheRVNerd it most certainly did!!! Thank you so much!!!
Where do you go beach camping at the OBX? A friend of ours has a house in Rodanthe that we usually stay at, but beach camping sounds FUN!!
This thing is beautiful!! As always, great video Josh!
It really is!
I hope Bish's appreciates what a special person they have representing them. And not the "ate too much paste as a kid" special either.
The more I see Grand Design the more I really like them. 👍🏻
Same here. When you see them up close you start to appreciate those LITTLE things they do
Very nice, love all the storage. This would be an option for my final camper if I was going to park it for a season. I like the recliners and that the outlets are on the back of the booth instead of the arm rest.
Here is an RV that finally looks like they got just about everything right from back to front. You can quibble on a couple of things maybe, but overall, this is one of the more acceptable floorplans I have seen in a while.
no you're spot on. It's a few tiny "meh" things but overall.. holy cow. BIG hitter
GD makes some nice looking campers. Thanks for sharing Josh👍👍
Nice unit. It needs to find a spot next to the pool in a RV resort. Park it and forget it. Then take it south for the winter. Thanks
I feel similarly. Awesome seasonal model
Oh Josh…. I can be having a stressful day and check out your video and have my first chuckle of my day!!!! Thank you so much 🤪 such good info and it is enjoyable.
Well I hope it gets a little better for you
Now this is just what I have been asking for!! It’s everything I want in a pull behind camper! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thanks Josh!!
Wow! Glad to hear it. Thank you for watching Lynn
Other than no table and chairs, the dollar store vent fan and the exposed wiring under the sink next to the drain, this is darn near perfect👍
She's a beast! Working thru the night to get her published for YOU steve lol :)
"Dollar Store Vent"
You crack me up dude :)
@@JoshtheRVNerd I’ve had my share of them with the brittle chipped blades after only a couple of years, so I really believe that they aren’t worth much more than that😬I expect to see them in so many entry level manufacturers, but Grand Design does so many things right that it surprises me that they haven’t upgraded them?
Pantry needs a light strip, top to bottom, to light up all the shelves.
Love that idea
I thought so highly of this video I bought one this week... LOL. Seriously I bought one
Congratulations!! Good choice!
Would it be out of the question to drop me a quick review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review by chance?
When I get a chance possibly. Don't have it yet. I pick it up in march@@JoshtheRVNerd
This just ticked all our boxes and then some. 👍
Nice! What specifically were you seeking?
In my opinion, this is the best floor plan of any pull camper I have seen. I have yet to see anything that gives more function and space, and I love the 5th wheel feel without the stairs for these old knees! We bought a Keystone Passport 2870RL with a very similar layout but is about 1,000 pounds lighter, which we needed for our 1/2 ton. This is our second camper, and like a lot of people, we learned from our first one what we liked and what we didn't, and this fixed everything for us. I am glad to see you are keeping up with the great videos you do. There is always something to make us chuckle.
Was that 2870 dual slides or just one slide living? I cannot recall offhand
@@JoshtheRVNerd It is dual slides, exactly like this model. There are only minor differences between the two.
@@daronrose6409 this is going to sound funny but I am thinking of the 2780 not the 2870 😜
You mean to tell me that you don't have every make and model memorized??!!
@@daronrose6409 you’d be surprised the expectations people have man
Love the cpap space!
Friends just bought this floor plan but in a Sundance 293RL. Not sure how Grand Designs does it but their hitch weight is 200lbs less. Impressive.
What it’s missing which is marginally debatable is a washer dryer prep in the master bed closet. The VIBE has this option if you want to remove the shelving and put a portable washer and dryer. We are seriously considering this unit.
Anyone have any idea if those hookups can be added? They have them in the almost exact 297rsts reflection so I'm wondering if it's already piped behind the wall in that closet.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner….
This one is beautiful.. Thanks Josh.

Hey Uncle Josh the Grand Design Imagine 2970 RL is on point. The inside is perfect, even though you don't have access to the kitchen and living room that's ok. The bedroom an bathroom is on point. The storage in the bedroom is awesome. I would want it with the 2acs. An having a slide next to the entry door an it having a awning on it is spot on. I do wish the outside speakers were down lower. This is a perfect travel trailer in my eyes. Thank you Uncle Josh for the awesomeness that you bring when showing us travel trailers, fifth wheels, an motorhomes!!!! Leonard Nelson from NC your number one fan. Have a great an blessed day!!!!!!!!!!!
You rock Leonard
Thank you Uncle Josh 😎👍🤟
This is almost perfect for us. Wish it had fridge access in 'road mode'. But, the main deal breaker is no King bed option.
Just bought 1 here in Atlanta Josh! Wish could have drove up there to Bish's. Thanks for all your videos!
Next time perhaps! Mind dropping me a quick review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review in return for the helping hand?
Done sir!👍
Josh this is the best video walk-through on this floor plan I’ve seen so far! The only thing that would’ve made it better is if you could’ve opened up the refrigerator so we could’ve seen the inside and if you could’ve open the awnings. We’ve ordered this trailer and are really excited about it. The only thing I don’t care for is the two-tone cabinets. I do like the European style though. I do a lot of cooking and I believe this kitchen serve me well. Thanks for doing such a thorough video and opening the cabinets etc.🥰
TY for the constructive input btw! I do TRY to open fridges, but most of the time the RVs aren't quite on level ground and the fridge doors try to pull themselves shut so sometimes I just can't do it on camera working alone like I do
I'll do my best to make it happen where I can, though!
I love this floorplan even tho i dont own any. i feel like this is a good retirement home.
Laugh at the bunion burner.
How about Tootsie Tanner
🤣… blessings from Gettysburg Pa..
Tootsie toaster is another I use regularly
I like ALL your videos, a lot of great info, but I never have seen you do reviews on ODRv's Travel trailers!!
Give me a little time. They are among our lineup at Bish’s and I hope to get my hands on a few
Inside the living space is most definitely 5th wheel living. Nice long, but yet not trailer right here. Hey Heng's, get onboard before it's too late. LoL
Needing you're best deal on this camper!! Ready to buy
Drop our team a note at www.bishs.com/contact-us and they can assist you! I’m not in sales myself
I have a 2019, 2670MK which is the next down from this one. The floorplan of which has got to be the ONLY " non reproduced" in the market.
This one here certainly is commonly seen but generally with a bed slide=weight. Under 8k# makes it a superior compromise however NO loss of storage.
I really like that one. I been out looking at camper . I seen that flagstaff has a few that look just like that. I like em.
Yep! They have some similar layouts to both this and the 2670 as well I believe
Ok thats great
If it were me, I'd make up a second slide-a-bucket so it would have two removable trays that you can use them like drawers, with trunk space underneath.
I appreciate that you showed the bathroom vent fan. I realize most will have that tiny 4" fan, but if you could keep showing that in your reviews I think it would be helpful. I don't know that you'd have to comment on it, but showing a prospective buyer so they would see whether they'd have to replace that would be nice (source: me buying a different model and already ordered a new bigger vent fan) :)
I'm glad you said this. I feel like sometimes I sound like a broken record but I don't always realize you might not have seen the 50 previous videos where I said that same thing
It may not be the shortest out there but they executed the little extra length very well, obviously for some people they want the king bedroom space of like the rockwood 2906bs which is still under 36ft but this checks all my boxes👍👍
I do like how they do a lot of these kitchens along the rear wall. It provides benefits of two big full super slides without the extra length you often get from a rear sofa or dinette
The only thing missing in this is a W/D. Otherwise, its pretty perfect!
Come and knock on our door.....
😉
I would like to see a video on a Durango Gold 5th wheel and get your opinion on the build quality. Front bath is our preferred layout Thank You we love your video’s and your insight
Lot of requests for those. I will try to get my hands on some where I can
Baptist Medicine cabinet
I wish the kitchen slides were built out to the inside edge of the floor slide. Cooking at that stove looks like a toe buster for sure. If they gave you two more inches of cabinet depth and move the stove two inches further into the unit you'd have more storage and safe feet.
They do that in their fifth wheels but I’ve not seen it done in trailers
Good morning Josh.
hey hey
Hi Josh, Could you make a youtube video dedicated to the best travel trailers with out heating ducks in the floor/ ventless floors. Thanks!
Very nice unit inside and out! Very tow friendly but i do not like that electrical hub being right under a sink. Seems like an accident waiting to happen although i hope it never does 👍🏼
I would like to see an outlet left of the stove , the added storage behind the TV and drawers in the booths or bench henges to better access. And a outside gas grill hookup . The front storage compartment could hold a small fridge. And aircompressor. Also a outside hot and cold hook up for a hose or shower. No carpet under kt table. You didn't mention size of propane tanks. 2- 30 gallons would be nice. Also I don't remember you mentioning if it has electric self leveling and electric hitch to raise it up and down. A second airconditioner in Bed room is nice. Over all good design.
Thx Suzanne for watching and sharing today!
there is an outlet next to the stove behind the light. A quick disconnect is under the camper. Yes to electric tongue jack and some have electric stabilizers some don’t. Ours does. And theres an outdoor shower in the passthrough. Its a great unit, Josh did a fantastic review and touched on a ton of stuff others have missed!
Howdy Josh,
We continue to appreciate your videos greatly! Thank you again!
Just wondering what your thoughts might be bewteen these two travel trailers....
The Grand Design Imagine XLS 177MKE and the Jayco 166 FBS
These two seem to run neck and neck...

Table and chairs.
Hello Josh! Purchased a Grand Design 337RLS in November and love it! Where can you buy the sink racks! Love they fit the farm sink just perfectly♥️ Really like the different layouts of the different RV’s you show😊
Most any RV center's parts shop should be able to assist with those!
Man they’re so close… wrap around backsplash and a bigger stove and we’re there!
You had me at "wrap around backsplash"
How about a charger recept for the rear theater seat?
That would be cool
Wife and I just toured the 2023 today, and they were adamant that my 2016 Ram 1500 in fact will tow this. Especially with a sway bar and such.
What say you?
Without specs on the truck I cannot say with certainty but man that’s a lot of trailer for a half ton
@@JoshtheRVNerd what's the closest trailer, in terms of floor plan, to this that you would recommend for a half ton?
@@GZUS96 Opposing super slides like this push most any half-ton. Not only does the weight of the camper become a challenge but the length as well. Longer trailers more easily push around vehicle and there's a lot of shorter wheelbase half-tons out there today
but to try to answer the question brands like apex are pretty good about making a decently sized RV lighter in weight. Their 293RLDS perhaps?
Hey man with the weight distribution and sway hitch you should be good to go. The hitch weight is low on this model and overall weight is probably under max tow. I will be towing this model with a 2007 tundra that shows max tow 10k. I will add airbags to keep it from sagging because even with a weight distribution it still will. I have towed two other rvs 35’ 10k with it and never had an issue, other than squatting more than I like to see. Any truck other a dually will squat. We previously had a 2017 ram dually with a payload of 5k and our momentum with hitch weight of 3500lbs still weighted it enough to active the air bags on that. Sorry long post but just check your max tow and payload
Plugs beside the bed could be used for an electric blanket.
oooh!!! My wife would love that
Outstanding review with great details. The 2970 is definitely one were interested in. I have a 2019 Ram Laramie 4x4, Tow rating is 11.5K and Payload is 1600lbs, is there a safe and effective percentage of these max capacities that an owner would want to tow? Like 80 -90 % for safety and not straining the engine. Thanks
It really depends a lot of different factors. Like your experience, the wind you commonly get in your targeted towing area, hills and mountains… There’s really not a single determining factor. I do recommend trying to keep the trailers wait 80% or less than your max towing weight as a general guideline and scaling from there
This is too big of a trailer for your truck. This is in 3/4-ton territory. The estimated "real" tongue weight is around 1170 lbs, which may exceed the probable hitch capacity of your 1/2 ton pickup. Crawl up under the back of the pickup and look at the weight-rating stickers on the hitch. Recommend you weigh your truck fully loaded for camping with passengers and subtract that number from the truck GVWR. Then you will have your actual payload capacity. Check your owner's manual for the tow ratings on your pickup. Most of the payload ratings don't include driver and passengers, which are part of the payload that applies against the rating you mentioned.
Would like to see how side panels work but otherwise great presentation!
Very nice. Ever figure out what they have against axdele?
I don't suspect they have anything against it specifically
Truth to tell. I really don't think that the RV would need any more storage, especially behind the TV. Just with the storage capability it has now, you can easily go over the gross cargo capacity. I think that trailer would be better with a 2,000 lb. cargo capacity. As far as a tow vehicle. It would be over kill but a 1 ton with a high rise cap on the bed of the truck would help with some aerodynamics towing the trailer as well. Plus with a 1 ton dually you'll get the extra payload capacity to bring extra stuff and a truck cap would help a lot with keeping the extra stuff dry too. Curious. What's the width of the trailer? Is it 96" , 102"? The specs list didn't show the width. Nice RV, if Inhad the money to buy and use it, I would buy it. I would change the theater seating for, if possible, two swiveling recliners and the sofa to a real sleeper sofa with an actual mattress, the type of sofa that it has when folded out to a bed doesn't look like it would be that comfortable to sleep on but again, I had never layed on one to really know? Add another solar pannel for redundancy and a bigger vent fan in the bathroom would also be changes that I would make to the trailer. There's one thing you can do to help keep your battery charged to the RV durring transit and if you want to keep the fridge running. Add another alternator tonthe vehicles engine and a side lead from that directly to the RV battery or add a much bigger amp output aternator to handle charging multiple 12 volt batteries.
Could you do a video of the Winnebago voyage V3235RL?
Will watch for it
Do you ever recommend any opposing slide travel trailers for half ton trucks?
If the weights and measures line up, then sure. But it depends on the truck and trailer in question. Half-ton pickups is a category with more variance than anything else out there on the road.
Pretty much the same layout as a lot of medium sized 5th wheels.
I would rather have a televator like in the other GD you did today.
Nice kitchen layout.
How much more does it cost to put a good fan in the bathroom rather than passing that on for the buyer to replace? Do it right the first time at this price.
Fan costs can vary by a few hundred dollars actually. That’s why a lot of brands are hesitant to do it
Do you know what the dimensions are of the booth dinette for sleeping? Thank you much in advance!
Not exactly but they’re usually about 5ft long
I had the opportunity to go through this model, new dealership in town. Microwave to small. Eliminate the small cab to the left of Microwave and enlarge micro. Forgot to look for electric outlet by range, is there one ? Looked like under overhead cab to the left.
Yeah under the overhead
Can you do an updated video on the 2022 wildwood 261 BHXL pleeeease
If they ever build me one? You bet lol
@@JoshtheRVNerd we are going to look at it tomorrow. I have watched your videos on the factory and how they are made and you seem to give them good praise. Do you still feel this way? Is it a good buy?
@@Allthingsjilld Wildwood commonly has a little issue with small fit and finish here and there - like trim pieces. Structurally they seem to be solid
@@JoshtheRVNerd ok thank you josh!! Your knowledge is much appreciated!
We are looking at buying the 3100rd and I was wondering what you thought? I couldn't fine if you did a video on it.
Haven’t done a video quite yet
Ok. I know they aren’t easy to come by. We were going with the 2970 until we saw this. It reminds us of a fifth wheel layout. Thank for you time and effort we enjoy your videos.
Love the layout , don't like euro look rather a natural pecan wood color
Looking 4 a lance style height bumper pull toy hauler any suggestions?
Lance has really done a great job of forming their own identity. What qualities about them interest you? That might help me know which direction to go for you.
Height but what I saw wasn’t a toy hauler, would like a closed garage from the front of the rig with no slides.
would rather see drawers under bed like the rockwoods. Who wants to lift up a mattress everytime you want to retrieve something?
Totally fair! Thank you!
Freedom Express / Apex / Spirit all have amazing bed storage systems as well. Have you seen any of those?
What are your thoughts on the lack of tank heaters? Thanks
I know 0° testing can still be passed even without tank heaters. And unless you’re going to be parked long-term in some serious subfreezing conditions the fact is most people really do not need them but there’s been a big recent trend toward them
A lot of people now associate tank heaters with “four seasons” camping with the two are not necessarily locked together
Thanks
Information on water heater ?
As I recall this is a gas/elec water heater. 6gal vessel. About 17.8gal/hour recharge
What's with the manual stabilizer jacks? Who still does that???
The Majority of brands actually
Power stabilizers are a common option of course
OK Josh, what happened to the Rockwood Ultra Lite campers? Haven't seen any new ones for a long time. Would really love to see the 2022 Rockwood Ultra Lite 2606WS. Saw the east coast tour of one quite some time ago but I can't watch it without taking dramamine. That's an east coast dealer that doesn't know what camera whipping means.
Nothing happened with them, but we already have 2022 footage for many of the models I've been able to get my hands on.
They're SO overwhelmingly popular that we almost never have any IN STOCK to record
Once there are product updates i'll have a good reason to get fresh footage for everybody
TY for mentioning the camera whipping thing. There's this trend now that "fast movements are exciting videos!" and I just don't buy into it. I'm making content so people can see and learn details. Any dingbat can run thru an RV with a cell phone lol
I've commented to Scott Huddgins about his camera whipping and he just laughs. At least you take and invite suggestions and comments to heart and follow through. The ah and um would be nice to go away but you're still the best camera operator and informer of all rvs and I appreciate it.
Josh, what’s your dealerships best price on a unit like this? I’m in the market. Thanks.
I wouldn’t know as I am not in sales nor at a location that handles these. One of our outfitters can answer that for you
Josh, first time buyer. Budget $50,000, gonna live in it and not really do any traveling. Just me, pup and sometimes my gal. What do you recommend
Apologies sir. There are a lot of factors and questions that I can’t get a grasp. Love with a quick post like this. I find difficulty offering specific advisory with limited information. This is really where you need to have a real chat with member of our team so they can better understand what variables you’re working with and what goes you’re seeking to accomplish more clearly.
Hey just as heads up I got two dealership yesterday to quote me two 2970 at 50k out the door. Both being 2023 models and With the weight distribution included. We decided to go with a 2022 for 46k out the door with the hitch and a forever warranty. Just work it !

This one? m.czcams.com/video/VnnxSY-S5f8/video.html
I have a ton of questions:
What actually changed from 2022 to 2023 on this model?
I’m in Texas and just found out the Longview store can’t sell the grand design… which stinks. Not sure I can add a 1600 trip into my costs just to buy.
I’m looking at a used 2022 model and trying to decide if the extra cost would be justified to a new one.
Could the tank water heater in the 2022 be swapped to a tankless?
Are there any power outlets on the back wall? I’m thinking of taking out the couch and putting in a work desk and chair (similar to the 2670MK)
Is the refrigerator work okay compared to the 12vDC compressor one? The seller said it is a dometic and runs on dc, gas, or shore
power.
Can the heng fans be installed by an end user?
Well shoot, the rest of my questions went out the window. SMH.
Thanks Josh for all the information you provide, it is greatly appreciated!
Apologies if I miss something. CZcams doesn’t allow me to scroll a long post and respond at the same time
Very little changed on the 23’s. Tankless water after heater is one of the knot noteworthy changes
Hengs can be put into any powered vent
Tankless could be swapped in for a cost of course
There are 12v and 2-way fridges. They’re not three way as you were told
Propane or 110. Not dc
@@JoshtheRVNerd uncle Josh you are awesome. Thank you. Okay to all the responses! I’ll keep my posts shorter 🤣
When do the 2023 models come out
There's no official release dates announced to my knowledge currently. Last I knew we tended to see things like this around June-July
Wonderful thank u.
1300 lbs CCC. 52 gallons of water weighs 430 lbs. That's less than 1000 lbs cargo capacity. This rig is going to have a buttload of empty cabinets.
Low ccc is a super common problem right now

You can drop me a quick question or two here but if you’re looking at a purchase then you should contact our team at www.bishs.com/contact/
Thanks! Looking at the difference from a DOMETIC fridge vs a Magic Chef. RV comes with a 190W Solar. Mini Lite 2516S comes with the Magic Chef standard, however the models I have seen have the Dometic.
@@GreyAlien1 I am not trained on the differences between individual 12v fridges on that level unfortunately and don’t want to steer you wrong. They’re all roughly equal in my view but that’s largely theoretical and I lack enough real world use with each type
