Robby and Mike Menzer were too honest for the Weiders
Regarding the Weider brothers, they had very different personalities, and others have opined that Ben was actually a bigger prick than Joe in some ways.
Other honest bodybuilders were/ are Boyer Coe and Pete Grymkowski.
Lee Priest was too honest too😂

You can say that all day. Everyone has faults. But let's not forget without the Weiders you might not even know who Robby Robinson is. This is what people forget. Sure many never made the money they should. But they got exposure they never would have got too.
Such a great guy. At 78 and still looking like a true champ 🫡
It’s called a God given body (genetics).
What an inspiration. When you listen to him you hear a lot of bad things that have happened to him but you would never realize how bad that were because he does not focus on the negative at all.
Yeah you can really notice it doesn't even affect him.
Guy shrugs it off.

Thank you for this. Robby isn't just a great bodybuilder. He's a great human. I got a phone consultation from him years ago and Robby would call me every month to see how my progress was going and see how training was going and just give me tons of inspiration. That wasn't part of the consultation but because he did that he will always be #1 in my book. Keep it up Robby. U have inspired alot of us muscle heads through the years and continue to do so to this day.

How can you not love this great person, Robby Robinson, the Prince and Gentleman of Bodybuilding! If Weider and Arnold used to add "black" as in "black prince" or "black hope" it was only because their narrow mind could only see that much ... He lost his career for being honest to a 13 years old kid - that says it all about him!

Excellent interview! Told I was aware of majority of what he was mentioning in here and talked about, there was definitely some new trivia exposed.
Specifically the time lines with revealing the bust/moving to Europe, etc.
Now this makes sense why he wasn't making too much of a splash in '80s with competitions. Dude litteraly got banned .

For the sake of BB history, legendary names as RR are very much needed right now to recollect and retell stories of the past that were forgotten/brushed off.

There are only a few men who looked great later in life after bodybuilding careers were over. Four come to mind for me at this moment and I’m sure that when I send this 4-5 more will come to me. With that said please forgive me for being older, caught up in life, and forgetful. These men all look great for different reasons but it shows that they did most things correctly

This man has been through some crap racism included. I admire his tenacity mental fortitude and his sagacity to endure,the people who are and were in this sport.
I remember being a kid in the 90s pre youtube trying to get big. Me and my friends would read all those bodybuilding magazines like Flex. They lied to us bad. We were drinking low fat milk, with1500 calorie weight gain powders to try to get as big as the guys in the magazines. And we truly thought they were natural.
Great interview i stumbled on it by chance but now im subscribing to the channel. Robby revealed alot of interesting secrets from the Era and there were no lies detected on my end i wish other black bodybuilders like Serge,Bertil and Sergio could have been able to tell their stories also.

This is an amazing interview. Things I didn't know but loved Robby Robinson. All of my friends had Robinson's cover plastered on their bedroom walls and later college dorm walls. This is also sad and it is consistent with how black men and women were treated in all industries especially the entertainment and sports industries back then, Only the big money contracts went to whites.

I saw Robby at the 75 IFBB Mr America, and he was great, but I also saw Arnold in his prime, and no Robby was not better.
@olegariomartinez6807 Did you see Robby in 1978/ 1979 ? I believe he may have been at his best. I'm less familiar with his condition in the 80s
@odessafile75 I did, and I favored Mentzer as he was more complete. The last time I saw Robby was at the 84 Olympia at Madison Square Garden. I have always thought he was an elite bodybuilder. I have never been an Arnold fan due to his cockyness.

Supplements were such a hustle....smh
Agreed with very rare exceptions such as MetRx which I found to be beneficial.
In addition, Larry Scott, Zane, Arnold et al actually used Rheo Blair protein which was of greater quality than Weider supplements.
Joe Weider is a jealous man especially against Robby Robinson.

Great interview. Robbie nvever got the credit he desrved for body building. He was just as good as Arnold but was always whiteballed by racism. He is similar to many of African American athletes who trailblazed in all sports. He stands with the great Serge Nubret and Sergio Olivia. The black quarterback is a prine example of how they were not given a chance to succeed Most were sen

I NEVER cared for or liked Joe Weider, ass I always felt like he was a FRAUD...Now I KNOW I was RIGHT!!!
I am NOT a supporter of gang culture. However, this whole interview had me reconsidering the true reason why arnold refused to commute Tookie Williams' death penalty. Perhaps, life in prison for Tookie was not enough to satisfy arnold's lifetime of insecurities. He also had issues with Big Graig Monson flexing his giant biceps at Venice Beach. It would seems that the "terminator" had/has some bitter, discriminatory stigma against Black Men's physics 🤥🧐🤔...
Wow, I Thought About That Too, But I Didn't Know About The Craig Monson Issue. DAMN. So Disappointed.
Yeah, Big Craig has a few video interviews on CZcams. He said, first they wouldn't allow Blacks to workout at Venice Beach, so he and his friends would jump the fence and workout anyway. Each time they got caught and escorted out, they would press them for a membership pass. Eventually, beach security got tired of escorting them out, so the people in charge approved their membership.
Afterwards, he met Arnold and was excited to pose with him, but Arnold discouraged him to flex because Craig had bigger arms than him. Big Craig waited for the camera man and flexed anyway; Arnold was not happy!
Nevertheless, Craig just laughed at the whole thing, he just enjoyed the sport so much, he didn't let these types of experiences to discourage him.

Such a shame how they did that man so dirty, to think to this day the amount of money the company is worth it would be peanuts to compensate him, but I guess doing so would be admitting their guilt. To swindle anybody in such a way regardless of race is so corrupt on all levels and taints the credibility of the Weider legacy.
If the best steroid is water, then why not drink water. Its free gear is not. It’s funny how these guys do 20 plus years of steroid use. Then when they retire they are against it
Robby did not say he’s against gear. He’s against using it year-round but when competing it’s OK in certain amounts the last eight weeks pre-contest. Today you have guys that are blasting gear year round and they don’t even compete. What’s the point? And yes, drink a gallon of water every single day of the year. That’s part of being a bodybuilder.

Robbie was too nice. Joe Weider the snake took advantage of his kindness. And we're not going to talk about the pink elephant in the ring?! Arnold Schwarzenegger was/is a racist!! We'll he definitely was back in 1975. Robbie was a threat to him and was jealous of Robbie! Lou Ferrigno was white. But they tried to make him black to win that contest!
I haven't seen one post on how much of a piece of s!#t Arnold and Weider were. He didn't give contracts to black bodybuilders yet still his physique as the template for his company.Arnold gets mad and jealous. Stop talking to the man,yet he has to overcome all this hate. He's definitely a mental and physical genius.
And the part that Arnold was racist? Bullshit , he busted EVERYBODY'S balls. And I remember 1975 very well ....there were a lot of black guys dancing with white girls. If the "world" was SO racist then at the 1979 NOC where Danny Padilla was leading Robbie in pts ,and honestly Danny should have edged Robbie, Robbie won. Great physique , and certainly un-crowned Mr Olympia , but a questionable memory.
