LYRICS:
Give me your hand (conceived and born was one of light)
Blood is spilled and man will follow
Infernal man (rain and dark, the other born black night)
Punishment too great to bear
Raise your head and taste the courage (the one of the light)
Fall from grace, unholy night
I've come here to kill you
Won't leave until you've died
Murder born of vengeance
I closed my brother's eyes tonight
Give me your hand (conceived and born was one of light)
Blood is spilled and man will follow
Infernal man (rain and dark, the other born black night)
Punishment too great to bear
Raise your head and taste the courage (the one of the light)
Fall from grace, unholy night
I've come here to kill you
Won't leave until you've died
Murder born of vengeance
I closed my brother's eyes tonight
It's cold tonight as the clouds turn grey
And from my hands to my brother's grave
You took his side, you took his gift
Feel the power of a fallen man
Crestfallen man
Far away in this land I must go
Out of the sight of the One
A punishment sent from his hands
A hardship that no one should know
Now go out of the sight of the One
Away in this land you must go
Where has he gone? What have you done?
A voice commands from high above this earth
From the soil his blood cries out to me
Murder, liar, vengeance, deceit
Far away in this land I must go
Out of the sight of the One
A punishment sent from is hands
A hardship that no one should know
Now go out of the sight of the One
Away in this land you must go

Fuck, this song just doesn't gets old

This album doesn't get old
This band never gets old
@Kent Senich dont do it cuz its a phising
Glad to see people appreciating this song so many years later. Memories amiright?

"Without them you equal NOTHING!"
Fuck yes man
Oh yea, so many drug infused, self reflective, depressed and lonely yet had people to appreciate and have an awesome time listening to music like this with, super nostalgic memories
Yes. First song I ever heard by them. Still sounds as good now as it did back then.
2024 still listening..

Idk dawg, nightmare is pretty good, it has buried alive, nightmare, welcome to the family and natural born killer
Jim Pickens best song from nightmare is save me tho
@@yeetosis9097 - Owned this years ago, USPS lost it when I shipped it and many other CDs to another address. Forgot about it... Bought it and Nighmare at the same time. Seventh Trumpet is better imo. I'm probably the only person who has that opinion though

I just realized this sounds like the story of Cain and Able. I've know this song forever but I never looked at the lyrics.
Aaaaaaaaaaa, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Fun Fact: The inspiration of this song comes from Genesis Chapter 4 Cain & Abel and however I have huntch that the band has got their name from the same chapter where it says "Cain shall be Avenged Sevenfold, then Lamech Seventy-Sevenfold."
That's indeed where they got it. And the most interesting part? This song and the band's name aren't the only biblical allusions made in their discography.
Their first album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, alludes to the seventh and final trumpet that heralds the apocalypse in the book of Revelation.
Their album after this, City of Evil... The title alone is a reference to the description of the city of Babylon. The horseman portrayed on the album cover, I believe is meant to be the fourth and final Horseman of the Apocalypse, Death.
Beast and the Harlot references the story of the woman on the beast in the book of Revelation.

Love this track. Just learned today that the drummer wrote the entire thing himself. That's pretty rare for a heavy metal drummer!
Yeah he honestly had a huge part to do with the band’s sound as a whole. He played the drums, the piano, and sang
The Rev wrote many lyrics and songs RIP
he did? i'm not surprised
he wrote many instruments part for sure, lyrics? not so much
Rev was integral to the music and theme of Avenged Sevenfold. After his death... I kinda feel the writing and music has taken a hit in terms of novelty and stuff, but still nobody can deny A7X is one of the best bands out there.
Best Cain and Able song ever made.
Matt's Vocals at 1:30 are so good
That's the best part imo
4:21 never fails to give me goosebumps.
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME-
It is THE part
It's 4:42 onwards for me. The outro.
The guitar tone is out of this world. I adore little parts of certain songs that make your hair stand on end.
Nothing like a scare that makes your hair stand up and your heart beat fast to make you feel so ALIVE
MURDER! LIAR! VENGEANCE! DECEIT! This song is freakin awesome!
It's COLD TONIGHT as the clouds turn Grey and from my hands to MY BROTHER'S GRAVE!!!
arguably their best song they've ever done
facts
nah

Yeah, arguably the best album they've made too.
Ik this is good but I wouldn’t call it the best
Respect for anyone who can play the drum cover for this song..also AVENGED SEVENFOLD WILL NEVER DIE
Yee i played this song near to what the rev did, very difficult
Whenever I hear anything from this album, it instantly reminds me of Halo 2.
I can remember coming home from school, putting my Xbox on and playing Halo 2 until bed time, with this album on repeat.
good times.
I have a similar things, just with AC/DC's Highway to Hell album and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
anytime i here a xylophone or any other similar instrument i think of LoZ twilight princess
wow, i meant 'hear' -_- no wonder i had to retake my England GCSE
+HoneyMoney Whenever I hear a xylophone, I think of Nightmare lmao.
there all lots of people saying what their top 3 sings from this album were but can we agree that every song from this album is just as good and amazing?
As would Heisenberg (Breaking Bad) say: You're godamn right
I don't rate by best album. I rate by best songs. my favorite is Almost Easy.
I, personally, am a fan of Save Me
Wow! All Three of us have the same profile picture! xD Also, you're fucking correct.
My album ranking:
8) StST
7) DitR
6) HttK
5) WtF
4) The Stage
3) CoE
2) A7X
1) Nightmare
And my favorite song of their's is Save Me.
This was one of the best albums ever imo. Every song slapped so hard
The transition from “away in this land you must go” to the duel gives me the chills everytime. This song and this entire album is a masterpiece.
That part of the song from 4:18 to 4:58 is what made me love A7X!
0:00 to 5:43 make me love a7x
hey, listen demo version!

This song is perfection in all aspects. This band is beyond description.
+Khaled Al Jabri They are amazing beyond anything I have ever seen.
2022 and this song still gives me goosebumps. 🖤
Update. It still gives goosebumps in 2023
@@bleakpeach872 It hell does! 🖤
I still have a Waking The Fallen poster in my living room at 28! I still think it is the greatest metal-core album of all-time.....every single song is an absolute masterpiece... perfectly orchestrating the instruments to heavy riffs. melodies, solos and impactful vocals!!
My metal band in high school covered this. I played drums. This song helped me become a better drummer!
This is true Avenged Sevenfold.
+PrideEd BBI i think they are fuking awesome still but its not the same without the rev😞 u know. #forREVer
+Samantha Martin Nightmare was fucking great. Better than some A7x albums.
+PrideEd BBI self titled and city of evil are top 2 in my book.

listen to those drums!!! man the rev is the man

"where has he gone? what have you done?" always gives me chills...damn the guitar on that
Knowing this is God speaking to Cain in the end…yeah, I wouldn’t want to have been him.
And yes…The guitar solo is epic.
omg that's my fav part!
I don't listen to metal anymore, but this is one of very few albums I can come back and listen to periodically. Classic.
Listen to metal man
This song its so intense...its not only metal ...this is art❤❤
Its like witnessing first hand the events and emotions that occured. Its a 360 view for me.
Stephen A great work of art for sure! Just AWESOME!
This song is definitely a work of art!
@Alberto Garcia yes it is
@Alberto Garcia it is
I remember I heard them live before City of Evil was released. Such a great band and even great live. Being great on a record and live isn't something bands can do now adays.
I think when the rev died though, their enthusiasm with live shows died.
Jonah Smith Nope, not at all. I saw them live after the rev passed away, they were just as great as they were before.
Even the guitar tells a story. And that’s what makes A7X great.
ikr
Madden 04 (GOAT soundtrack). Not even a metal head, but I'd hear this and get hyped AF.
Same
This album is a explosion of feelings, the vocal feelings is great!
Some of their best riffs are into it, as well.
Serial Master Yes, all of that, plus it's a really cool way of retelling the story of Cain and Abel.
This song I mean.

"Oooh, I'm a true metalhead, I listen to Cannibal Corpse and Celtic Frost, and my favorite album is "Rust in Peace" from Megadeth. This Avenged Sevenfold thing is shit because I say so."
Seriously, what wrong with this people? I used to hate on this band, just for fun (to annoy my friends, actually) then just a little time ago I listen to some of their songs, and they are in fact pretty catchy. I can't understand what problem people have with this band. It seems that you have to dislike this music to be a true metalhead, but in my opinion, whatever who truly hates on any band is not a metalhead.
Just hear what you like and that's all, it's all music, this isn't some Justin Bieber Autotuned shit or canned musicians from Disney. Even if you dislike it, this is metal.
To each their own I guess. I'd call myself a "true metal" guy because I like a lot of diverse metal bands. I love some of Avengeds older stuff like this song, I like all the classic metal bands like Maiden, Priest, and Sabbath. I like some Slayer, some Cannibal Corpse, etc. Christ I like a lot of stuff. I just don't see how or why anyone would limit themselves to one flavor of one genre of music.
argentinianseba why u putting them agenst metal core its hard rock dumb ass
Then go and listen your black metal shit what are you doing here?
Miguel Ruiz I think you are in the wrong comment, or you are just really stupid.
But you have to admit, Rust in Peace was a pretty bomb album.
4:42 One of the most beautiful riffs In existence
Best ever
I sometimes forget how good this song is. Then remember how amazing the entire record was. Might blast this on the way to work tomorrow
This was the first song I ever heard from A7X thanks to Madden '04. Been a fan ever since

This song is amazing I don't know how it's not more popular
Blame the pop shite
It's from the Bible. They got their name from the Bible. Chapter four of Genesis. The first murder in human history. Cain killed his brother Able for having a better offering to God. He was jealous and committed the first murder. God marked him and sent him to the wilderness. The blood of Able cried out to God from the ground for justice. This song is very deep.

Been a big fan of these guys since i was 14. 20 years later this album is still their best
Been a fan since I was 3. 7 years later, nothing changed
Still listening to this song eventho almost 10 years they had been release and still evergreen to all metal-ians like me plus the drums really awesome. Really like the drum tempo
I’m re-reading the Bible and this has been stuck in my head for a week now
Waking the fallen album was the best for me
Me too
I think this was the first rock/metal song I ever heard.. I was around 12 years old and I was listening to a pop music compilation and somehow this got put in there and I was like "YAAAAAAA BEST POP SONG EVEEEEEEEER." I had long forgotten about this song and now 5 years later I just realized that one of my favorite bands sang it...
I came out listening to rock and metal.
All hail Tony Hawk's, Dynasty Warriors and Need for Speed ;)
CodeXIX This is pop. It's good and all, but it's pop regardless. Metalcore has become pop music, especially with this upcoming generation. Not only is it pop in a social aspect, it's pop musically. The way it's written. The chords used. Melodies.
I'm pretty sure this sounds nothing like Katy Perry or Taylor Swift...
CodeXIX Musically, the melodies and chord progressions they use are almost exactly the same ones that Katy Perry and Taylor Swift uses. And furthermore, pop doesn't just mean Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. It's the most popular/well-recognized music. Metalcore is a well recognized genre in this day, if you can't tell by the fact that Warped Tour has transformed to a Metalcore festival from its Punk roots.
Please pop was Britney Spears,Beyonce and alot of rap now it's even worse with Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and rap that has 0 zero lyrical meaning now
is it normal that this song relaxes me???????????????????? nothing like a good old scream to close the day
this album is gold. thank you, reverend, one time musician for each century.
The Rev’s stage name is so long lol
The Rev's backround vocals and drumming is absolutely beautiful. We miss you brother. 🤘😢
Top 3 songs from this album:
1. Second Heartbeat
2. Clairvoyant Disease
3. Chapter Four

I agree with 1 and 3 but 2 would have to be Radiant Eclipse for me
Afterlife
Second heartbeat
Chapter four.
+Miguel Guerra afterlife is from the self titled album
+Michal Gabai thought you guys were doing top three fav songs not from this album lol sorry.
Alright, to everyone arguing about people dissing other genres, I'm here to explain some shit to all you guys, a real Avenged Fan should be too busy being a loyal fan to go fuck with other genres, if you don't like that genre, keep it to your fucking self, I am proud to call myself a "Deathbat", and I don't want any pansies fucking with the band
That's it dude, music has been made to be enjoyed, if they don't like it they miss it, more A7X for us.
The best avenged sevenfold song ever
Was my fav when I was 12
Its 2011.. I'm 13-14.. I'm playing MW3 online with my mates.. were playing guitar along to Waking the Fallen start to finish.. thank you A7x
I wish they still made music like this or at least something with some heart
With some heart, I guess the Rev had an enlarged heart so that may have been what made it different. (I miss the old albums too btw)
Anthony Parker The Stage has tons of heart.

+Laura Brosco Too bad The Rev died... ;-;
+Laura Brosco The true A7X does what they decide to do. That's what they do. All of their albums are amazing in different ways.
+CookieGir “xXCookieGirXx” Gamer Actually he is just training his stallion duck so he can return to become the Knife Master, he should be back about 2017ish. (Rev in piece)
Slowly becoming my favorite A7X song. The lyrics are amazing, as is the vocal stacking on the track. Plus, it's why the band has the name they do. The Rev's writing at it's best, and the band at one of their most musically in sync. And that bridge guitar riff is amazing at 4:22, could have been a song of its own, it's so good.
this song never gets old
3:29 is just magical
5:10 epic
Illjay played this song amazing. Mad respect for him after I saw them live.
I found this song in NHL 2004 when i first played an excibition game
This song always reminds me to be a good person towards others as much as I can because this song narrates the story of cain and abel and the punishment that was given to cain that should be a lesson to be reminded to everyone.
I love this refrain at the end so much
blood is spilled Batman will follow
that's new...
